With Pushing Daisies being canceled because you bastard children didn't watch it, I am quite depressed. But let's talk canceled shows anyway. I'll do a double stuff oreo topic:

1) What's your favorite canceled show?

2) If you could cancel any show currently on TV, which would you axe?

One or the other, both, whatever.

Angel is my favorite canceled show. It's true it went on for 5 seasons, but technically it was. The final season had the highest ratings yet when the network told the crew they weren't picking it up for a sixth, taking them by surprise.

If I could cancel one, I would cancel The Hills. I've never watched it, yet feel safe in hating it a lot.

Arrested Development. :crying2:

I watched Pushing Daisies last week. It was kinda cheesy.

I heard that MadTV just got the axe, and so did King of the Hill. I'm not a viewer of those shows, however. :p

I'd cancel The 700 Club. Pat Robertson is such a tool.

for canceled shows i have a three way tie

firefly - lasted 11 episodes
dark angel - 2 seasons
Jericho - at least 2 seasons

if i could kill a series it would be the new adventures of old christine. she wasn't really that funny in seinfeld so i dont see how she earned a new show

That was a travesty that was.

Funny, that's the show I was going to say that I'd cancel

On a side note, I have a really bad feeling that The Big Bang Theory is going to get cancelled. That would suck as it's like, the only new sitcom that is good.

I miss Firefly. That show deserved so much more. How can you cut something 11 episodes in?
Dark Angel needed more networkin' love, too.

As far as canceling;
Network people, please axe "The New Adventures of Old Christine", any of those reality shows that give whiny Orange County/New York wives any money or airtime, and please cancel "The Sarah Silverman Program" and remove that woman's larynx. Thank you!

^ You up there! You reminded me of "Mind of Mencia"! *cringe* I hate that show. If it's unfunny, it'll do it.

You're kidding right? Julia Louis-Dreyfus was great in Seinfeld (which was a brilliant show in itself). The New Adventures of Old Christine is very medicore fare though I agree.

Arrested Development being cancelled was a bad joke :(

Arrested Development, Firefly, Eli Stone, Pushing Daisies. AD was my favorite. :(

Is According to Jim still on? I'd cancel that show. As well as half if not all of the CSI spoofs.

Firefly easily, followed by Pushing Daisies. Then The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest. All heart-breaking losses.

And I would so cancel Kenny vs. Spenny, West Coast Choppers, and Dog the Bounty Hunter, but mostly so BJ would stop trying to put those on while we're eating dinner. I hate those shows!

I always wanted to see Pushing Daisies. It looked like such a great show. I bet once I see it I'll be raging about it's cancellation as well. :(

Serenity -is- awesome. <3 I'm glad they gave us a movie instead of just canceling Firefly and leaving all us fans utterly empty-handed. The Serenity/Firefly comic books are excellent, too. If you like the show and movie, keep an eye out for them. They do not disappoint.

Arrested Development, Firefly, and Futurama are my top three, in that order.

I'd cancel the entire Fox News Channel.

Ironically, all three of my top cancelled shows ran on Fox.

I neglected to put Futurama on my list partially because they have all those DVDs being made now, and partially because said DVDs have tainted my love for the show.

So sad about Pushing Daisies. :(

It pretty much made my heart burst with Awww-ness every time I watched it. Probably my favorite new show in recent years and it didn't even get a full season. God damn writer's strike. :mad2:

Firefly, obviously. And Arrested Development.

It didn't get canceled (well, I mean, it was put out of its misery after season 5), but Alias basically got fucked up the ass during it's last few seasons and nothing TV-wise stings more than that. Because it's probably my favorite show ever, and to see something so fantastic descend into utter <img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /> was heartbreaking and really difficult to watch. But I kept watching and hoping, and it was like a kick in the groin with every new episode.

I would cancel all the CSI shows, The Hills, and the reincarnation of 90210.

Firefly and Arrested Development were two of the greatest shows to ever grace the small screen. Luckily, they are both get their turn on the big screen and with all of the major actors returning to their parts! Angel was also another one that was good, but at least that didn't end too prematurely.

I'd probably cancel American Idol, So You Think You Can Dance? or one of those other horribly crappy shows that shouldn't have money wasted on them.

Pushing Daises was also super good but didn't stand a chance from the beginning. It was too different and beautiful and America hates those things.

In during Firefly and Arrested Development. Also going to add Space: Above and Beyond.

Would cancel Eastenders. Or Hollyoaks. Or Emmerdale. Or any <img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /> like that. I'd rather have reality TV than any daytime soap.

Or maybe The Simpsons, that'd be an act of mercy at this point.

So You Think You Can Dance is brilliant! Through what other medium could the general uninformed masses be exposed to genius like the Alvin Ailey (http://www.alvinailey.org/) dancers? Honestly, it's one of the few TV shows that actually exposes people to more than just talent and entertainment, but actual fine art.

Firefly and Arrested Development I can quite agree with. I chose Angel as my favorite because I had a nice while to get attached and grow to love it. It had a pretty good run, thankfully. But as for most devastating, it would be Firefly. After Fox smurfs up Dollhouse I'll be back in this thread with another show on my list.

So You Think You Can Dance? is my guilty pleasure :aimblush: I hate myself for it a bit.

Edit:

There's talk about a Pushing Daisies comic continuation too.

Wow, that's cool. I hope it happens. But in comic book form Olive can't effectively burst into song like the sexy freak she is. Le sigh.

I neglected to put Futurama on my list partially because they have all those DVDs being made now, and partially because said DVDs have tainted my love for the show.

Bender's Big Score wasn't up to the standards of the original show, but it also wasn't as bad as everyone said it was. I've yet to watch The Beast with a Billion Backs.

In any case, full-length DVDs aren't really the same as new episodes; the pacing is completely different.

Shlup
12-18-2008, 05:19 AM
Yeah, the pacing is the problem. Beast With a Billion Backs is blah, and Bender's Game is just... bizarre.

Futurama, The Critic, Pushing Up Daisies, Megas XLR, The New Adventures of Johnny Quest, and Moral Orel. :(

I'd cancel pretty much every drama, sitcom, and reality series out there cause most television shows are rubbish anyway but if I had to be specific... Any cop show, all the Law and Order shows, all shows with CSI in the title, and both VH1 and G4. Yes I do mean the entire channels.

No more Pushing up Daisies... well at least I still have Burn Notice....

That would have been an act of mercy 8 years ago.

My favourite cancelled show: Farscape. I won't bother mentioning my other choices as they've all been mentioned already.

I'd probably cancel Pushing Daisies. Oh wait, nevermind. I guess I'll go with every show that's like American Idol and every reality TV series.

I know there were plenty of factors but i'd like to blame J.J Abrams for leaving this to go work on Lost!

he didnt even finish what he started in the final season!

Bring back The Day Today and cancel Skins

I think Futurama is the only show I really wish I could bring back in full force. I have seen 2 of the 3 movies they have made and I think they fit right in with the rest of the show perfectly. Some of the stuff in the movies were blatant fan service but that was to be expect to some extent. Overall, I loved Bender's Big Score and did not like Beast With a Billion Backs. I think I really liked BBS for a couple of reasons.

1) It went through out the series and filled in some gaps here and there that didn't need to be filled in such as how fry's dog came to be in that stone casing.

2) I love time travel plots done right and this was done right.

3) More Al Gore XD

If I could cancel a show on television I would say cancel all cop dramas besides the original Law and Order. At the very least Law and Order is kept some what fresh with new detectives and prosecutors in the D.A. office. Plus half the shows are pulled from the headlines in the news.

Worst suggestion in this thread, really.

There was this show called The Class (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Class) that was on CBS for one season. I swear to god I was the only person that watched it, but it was great. I was so crushed when it wasn't renewed for season 2 D:

No you must mean Static Shock. There really isn't any show that I'm upset about being canceled except for Futurama. Although with Moesha, I thought they could have done at least one more episode. They canceled it on a cliffhanger. I think Moesha got kidnapped by Lil Kim and she was being tortured in a warehouse by her. That was just dirty.

Cancel Heroes. They should have given up after the second season when they proved they couldn't match the standards set by the first season. They always pick the most obvious courses of action. Like a soap opera. Being predictable is one thing, but they stopped even doing it well. Tired and boring in the end

I'm one of those Firefly people. Unfortunately I only heard about it shortly after it was gone. I saw it when I got the DVD collection on the cheap. It was worth more than cheap

I can't say what my favorite show cancelled would have been. Upon thinking about it though I suppose it'd be interesting to see where some of the Start Trek series might have gone by now. Without having moved on to stuff like Enterprise

That's because FOX royally screwed it over by not showing the episodes in sequence, and showing Episode #2 (The Train Job) as it's premiere instead of the 2-part pilot (Serenity). Not to mention they did an absolutely HORRIBLE job of marketing it. I didn't even know it existed until the movie came out. Unfortunately, Joss Wheden screwed himself over even more by killing off one of the best characters in the movie.
