View Full Version : More sines and cosines! This time with a flair of tangent!

This will be on the test I have to finish tomorrow, but I don't understand it.

cscx= -3 tanx>0 Find cosx.

The only thing I can figure out is that sinx= -1/3 so for tangent to be positive is for cosine to be negative (thus making the multiple choice question a bit easier). But I can't quite figure out how to get an exact number.

Sin<sup>2</sup>x + cos<sup>2</sup>x = 1
