I didn't listen to much new this year, but "mc chris is dead" from mc chris is one of the best albums I've heard in ages. It's almost endlessly listenable.

This wasn't a good music year. I'm gonna have to say "Who Killed Amanda Palmer" by Amanda Palmer.

I thought Modern Guilt was disappointing in my early listening sessions with it, but—as Beck has done a couple of times in the past—this album grew on me immensely. Maybe it actually is a good album, or maybe it’s because I’m a little blinded by a long-awaited deluxe Odelay, but I really do enjoy Modern Guilt these days. Ladies complain about size, but what would they know

Did I like any other albums this year? Probably not.

Oh, I did like Viva la Vida. I never owned a Coldplay album before this one, and I only bought it because of Violet Hill.. which isn’t much of a surprise, I suppose. But unlike other times I’ve bought any album for just one song (I have never done this, but I’m sure somebody else has), I like to listen to other songs on the wrap. Hey, I won’t name them, but I’ll say that I like most of ’em.

I don’t know. I can’t think of anything else. That ain’t to say that 2008 was a splurge of bad albums or anything like that. You know what I mean? I could think of a few good and pretty good albums, but nothing I’d pipe into that favorites Baggie. Am I getting through to anyone here or... probably should stop huh.

Oh yeah do not forget I Am... Sasha Fierce. Nah, I’m just kidding around. Man. Good title, though.

I really liked the Thursday/Envy split, and United Nations' first album is good.

I was lazy in terms of new music this year. I hope to change this for 2009.

I have a very pop/Billboard Top 40 taste in music, and my 2008 favorite was definitely Beyonce. Loved her latest album!

Antidotes, by Foals, is probably my number one. Listen to it if you can.

Here are the albums I remember from the top of my head - there are probably more:

- "Jukebox" - Cat Power
- "Oracular Spectacular" - MGMT
- "Santogold" - Santogold
- "This Is For the White in Your Eyes" - Choir of Young Believers

... and that's all I can remember right now (dammit!). There are definitely more than those ones.

Gregory and the Hawk - Moenie and Kitchi
M83 - Saturdays Youth
Helios - Caesura

That's about all I can think of. And it's pretty funny that I just started listening to most of those albums at the end of the year and I'm loving them. Especially Gregory and the Hawk. SO GOOD. I'm never going to stop listening to "Two Faced Twin" or "Doubtful" or "Oats We Sow" or "Gray Weather"

I downloaded Portishead's "Third" but I didn't like it that much, really. :S

The Walkmen - You & Me is an awesome album. One of the best I have heard in years.

The Man

for me the final list ends up being something like:

1. Esoteric - The Maniacal Vale
2. Krallice - s/t
3. Deathspell Omega/S.V.E.S.T. - Veritas Diaboli Manet in Aeternum
4. Cynic - Traced in Air
5. Moonsorrow - Tulimyrsky
6. Enslaved - Vertebrae
7. Mirrorthrone - Gangrene
8. A Silver Mt. Zion - 13 Blues for Thirteen Moons
9. Coldworld - Melancholie²
10. Ihsahn - angL

with honourable mentions to (in alphabetical order) Darkestrah, The Fall of Troy, Hollenthon, Leviathan, Meshuggah, Hollenthon, Ihsahn, The Mars Volta, Mgła, Nyktalgia, Opeth, Origin, Sigur Rós, and Skepticism. If you're a fan of metal it would come out as a strong year; otherwise it'd have been pretty bleak.

I'm pretty Sure Kamelot - Ghost Opera was 2008, maybe late 2007 though.

Viva la Vida, definitely! Cemeteries of London might be my favorite song ever now.
