Eyes on Plays Final Fantasy Fanatsy VI Rules

When you begin the game, please post a digital camera picture or a screenshot in this thread of your game that has your party clearly visible on the screen. You MUST do this to be eligible for participation in the Challenges; we have to be able to see the names, classes, etc. of your party so we can compare it to your finishing party, and make sure you don't just stick in a memory card or load up a save state without putting in the effort.
That's right, you must also post a picture from the END of the game in this thread with your same party being displayed. This way we can confirm whether or not you met the criteria for any/all of the challenges: what level your party is, what class they are, etc.
You CAN play the game on an emulator, and you CAN give us a screenshot of that. Just don't go talking about where you got the rom, mmkay? ADDENDUM: Also, don't go using frameskip on us. That's weaksauce.
You can achieve as many challenges as you want, and yes, you will be able to show off your winnings in some manner once this event is over.

Yay I can actually play again! I'm in the WoR, I have Celes, Edgar, Setzer, Sabin, Cyan. I had to get the fifth character so I could get rid of some characters and do some heavy leveling up more quickly. Right now I'm using Sabin (without Exp. Egg) and Setzer (with Exp. Egg). Leveling up fewer characters earlier = the ones who join later join at a higher level! Yay!

I'm gonna tack on "All Characters Level 99 and all Magic learned" to my list of challenges, which is now as follows:

EDIT2: And our lovely Magitek Knight Terra/Spekio is now level 99. Illumina + Offering + Dinosaur Forest + Ridiculous M. Block = simple, but tedious leveling. I had an M. Block of 127% (via Illumina, Paladin Shield, Force Armor, Zephyr Cape) so no hits were taken, huzzah.

EDIT3: Treasure Hunter Locke/Crono joins the ranks of those in the 99th level. Same method as for Terra, except more streamlined (bought 99 Sleeping Bags for healing, rather than using my previous method of flying over to Gau's daddy's house and sleeping there). I'm realizing that this method won't work quite so well for those characters that can't equip the Illumina (which gives a sexy +50% to M. Block). I've got Gogo with the Magus Rod, Force Shield, Bard's Hat, and Tao Robe right now with an M. Block of 126%; I'm concerned more about how much attacking will be necessary though (a lot more than with the Illumina!).

We just moved to an army base, so I'll do my best to emulator this out, but yeah, baby + moving in + getting army stuff done = little time.

The baby plays WoW with my husband and I, so it wouldn't be a big step for her to play FFVI with me. :razz:

Grab a Merit Award (http://figarocastle.homemade-websites.com/ff6/relics.php?singleItem=Merit+Award) from the Coliseum and the character can equip any equipment (Imp Halberd -> Cat Hood -> Merit Award). I'm sure you have dozens of Imp Halberds by now if you've been wandering the Dinosaur Forest.

Also, I had my first boss battle with Natural Magic only via Ultros in the Opera House. Usually I have someone with Bolt from Ramuh so they use that, but it wasn't necessary. Sabin with his Genji Glove was more than enough for Ultros. :cool:

Plus having four Green Berets before the three-way battle in Narshe was nice as well.

Pincher attacks in the MagiTek Research Facility officially suck on a Natural Magic Only challenge. I run from every other battle since I have no magic and physical attacks are weaksauce here, but I had to hang out and use potions to heal while I waited for Celes' turns so she could fire off Ice at the enemy.

I'm realizing that this method won't work quite so well for those characters that can't equip the Illumina (which gives a sexy +50% to M. Block).
Grab a Merit Award (http://figarocastle.homemade-websites.com/ff6/relics.php?singleItem=Merit+Award) from the Coliseum and the character can equip any equipment (Imp Halberd -> Cat Hood -> Merit Award). I'm sure you have dozens of Imp Halberds by now if you've been wandering the Dinosaur Forest.

That is an interesting proposition, actually. But it would take up a Relic space, and I've been using Exp. Egg/Offering (once the 4 attacks become more powerful combined than one regular attack). So I got a whole set of Imp equipment (which was also not hard, wandering the plains outside the Dino Forest = lots of Sprinters = lots of dropped Imp's Armors, which can be Coliseum'd for the Titanium and TortoiseShld) and have been wandering around as an Imp. 255 Defense is nice; only Meteor (and Ultima, if I fight any Brachosaurs. which equals death) gets through for any significant damage, and I can often survive that.

I played FFVI GBA a little while ago so I don't feel like playing again. I'd much rather play Chrono Trigger DS. But this is my favorite game ever and I really like Mullet's icons for the awards.

I'm currently playing this on and off on my Playstation. I'm switching back and forth between VI and VII. I'm in the WOR and currently have all the characters bar Locke & Gogo.

I've been trying to get all the rages for Gau, however I somehow managed to not fight a Bountyman. I was sure I fought all the battles before you fight Kefka in Nashe. I guess a Bounyman just wasn't one of them. It's very frustrating trying to collect all the rages (not including the impossible ones- Pugs, Allover, Chupon and Siegfried I still need 67 more lol). I keep soft restarting until I get near the monsters I want to fight.

I'm going to go and try to get eating by the Zone Eater and then use the moogles charm to get a fake mustache or Relm next. I would have replied to this thread ealier but I wasn't able to post any pictures of my levels.

Well, given that my current task is quite tedious, I've been taking a little break from the FFVI playing. (I played through FFIV yesterday instead.) But now I'm ready to get back on the ball and level up the rest of those that I currently have to 99, then go get Shadow, Gau, and Umaro (who will join at 99!). Then it's off to Kefka's Tower for a bit to fight the last two dragons and acquire the Crusader Magicite, then over to the desert near Maranda to fight Cactuars for 10 Magic Points each for the fastest possible magic learning. That's gonna take a while too because some characters that I haven't used the whole game have never had any Espers attached to them and will thus have to learn it all. I need that gold star though.

I'd love to play the GBA Japanese version but it's very buggy on my emulator for PSP. I need to make a strategy plan!

Edit: So. I found a way to emulate SNES games on my PSP, but FFVI J Advance is still buggy (some Japanese characters are changed to Thai font for no apparent reason).
Should I play the GBA version in English, or the SNES version in Japanese? Now that's a dilemma for me...

Edgar is at 93 I believe, and then Celes will be the last one I have to level up, and then tedious task number one will be done!

Kefka's Tower is going to be kind of hilariously easy.

EDIT: Grrr I was expecting Gau to rejoin at 99, but he joined at the level I last had him at, which was a measly 28. And him with no Fight command. I guess I'll cart him around on every remaining sidequest with the Exp. Egg and see how much patience I have. I wonder if this happened with Shadow too (though he's far easier to level considering he can Fight).

Unfortunately you can't get back on the Phantom Train. I'm guessing you missed <a href="http://figarocastle.homemade-websites.com/ff6/enemies.php?singleEnemy=Over+Mind">Over Mind</a>? But you can still get back into the MagiTek Research Facility, although it's a moot point now.

Here's my completion. The quality isn't as good nor is it a speed run/wr attempt but it was fairly challenging.

I definately have all the silver objectives done save a couple. I'm sure I've got a few Gold ones done. I don't think I have the time to do all the 'gold' challenges. :D

I'm sure I can do all the Gold challenges since there's no level cap. Celes and Terra NMG would be easy if there's no level limit.
