So what do you think? I like the original but this might not be such a good idea? But I'll still look forward to it though.

I Am Legend was awesome until the final <img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /> scenes. (The alternative ending is the one I consider to be the real ending, actually.) If there was plenty of tension and not much bullplot then I'd probably like it, because that movie did have some goddamn awesome scenes of tension.

If it still has Will Smith in it, then everything should be okay. He was incredable in IAL.

What was the alternate ending. I already saw the movie and read the book which is an entirely different story.

He shows the infected that he can save them and they allow him to basically help him if I remember. anyways he survives.

Im actually suprised no one is bashing this idea. In one of the post of the actual movie people hated it. O well. I like this idea and I think WIll Smith will do great with this one too.

Hrmmmmmm.

I loved the first one actually (Though that ending was super rushed like a BIG-BUNCH 'O' PALOOKAS) ... I'd probably see the sequel o_0; but it'd be all boring and political imo.

I liked the alternate ending better. It made more sense and was clearly the intended ending and not the crap ending they used in the theater.

The alternate ending had Will Smith giving back the creature he had captured to experiment on and the creatures let them go and live. Will Smith had come to the conclusion that while the virus might have turned everyone into these creatures, over the years they have become more than that. They have feelings for each other and a social existence and he goes around hunting them during the day when they sleep. In a sense he is a Legend to them just a Vampires are legend to us. He hunts during the day just as a vampire hunts us during the night. This is something that is unstated in the alternate ending but is clear that was some of the intention and thus remains truer to the novel to my understanding.

That explanation aside, I would not like to see a sequel to the movie...that would suck and would be dumb. Will Smith is dead and if you used the alternate ending, I think they came to the conclusion that they would live in isolation away from the creatures instead of trying to cure them.

A prequel would be awesome. I think the story of what they were doing and how everything got so out of control could make an awesome movie. It is kind of explained through flashbacks but I think there is more of a story to tell and that it could be very interesting.

Prequel would not make sense. It would just be Neville finding out about the virus (I didn't read the book -- he seems adamant about 'fixing it': did he cause it?) and other events that should have been covered by IAL's flashback scenes.

Ugh.

Ugh.

What doesn't make sense about it? Neville finds out about the virus, tries to deal with it, and watches as people all around him die or turn, and he gets more and more crazy, scared, and panicked as times passes. Given how by far the best thing about I Am Legend was Will Smith's stormingly good acting, that's a movie I'd gladly watch.

I don't believe the virus has a Human cause at all in the book.

Ugh.

I believe he was part of the team that developed the virus and then started to work on a cure once it broke out. The events leading up to the break out and everything I think would be interesting. You would have government cover ups. The virus getting out might have been from terrorists. The reactions to what they have created could be bad. Maybe a different branch of the military got a hold of it and figured they could use these things in combat situations. There is a lot of potential for a very interesting story and it would give Smith a chance to show off more of his great acting skills. His reactions and protection of his family and how he deals with the mounting stress. Heck, they could take it a step further and have his family dying come into play during the movie in an uncut sort of way and see how he deals with that in the immediate aftermath of that situation.

The movie has a ton of potential to be good and interesting.

EDIT: I decided to try and find out what I had initially said about the develop of the virus thingy and I couldn't find it at all. I remember reading that someplace when I was researching the story well before the movie actually came out. That part might have been in one of the other movie adaptions "The Omega Man" and the other one...Last Man Alive or something.

Still a lot of the other things I said can be used like the protection of his family, terrorism, the after math of his family dying all the way up to how he became barricaded in his house in New York where everything was going down.

The only good thing about the original was the dog Sam. Everything else was just one big cliche.

If they decide to make a sequel/prequel it will probably end up making a lot of money, though.
