This is one of my courses for this spring, which is cool because it's actually interesting and awesome because it doesn't involve reading a book. Already started reading up on html tags and learning the basics. Going to start on css on Thursday

I'm going to work on a project all spring, I have to make a webpage and I'm looking for ideas on what to put on it. The only thing I know I'm going to need for now is some sort of e-mail system where people can type in stuff that gets sent to my email, info that I can put on the page.

Here's some examples of what students made last year:

This chick made a page about poland, and her email thing was simply a feedback form:
http://prosjekt.hia.no/users/katarn07/webpage/

this chick made a page about quotes, and she made a form where people could send in quotes:
http://prosjekt.hia.no/users/inaes06/

also note that she has a dead link to EoFF in the links section. xD

I have some ideas already really, but they're a bit boring. :p So that's why I'm asking you guys! Hey, it could even be EoFF related.

Oh my, a dynamic html course? Our Levian is growing up!

Hmm, a page that incorporates some type of feedback or contact with the author? Beyond video games, what kind of hobbies do you have? Perhaps you can build it around a hobby so you'll enjoy working on it more. If this was the old days, I'd say build a website that tracks high scores and people can send in their high scores for bragging rights, but high scores aren't very common anymore. Perhaps achievements?

Never code anything when you can't give at least 75% of your attention to it. An extra > in your code will break the entire page, and it is a pain to find it and fix it when you have a lot on the page. Especially if you have lots of tables. ewww!>_< Also I recommend you copy the pieces of html into a LJ post or something to test it first. It it gets really big, copy small chunks and test them one at a time. That way you can see where any mistakes are.

Perhaps you can make a site where people post their total amounts achievements from their XBOX360? You can include things such as number of games, and how long they had the system as well. XD And you can link EoFFers who go up on your site back to their profiles here :)

Edit: also whenever you are making a link to anything out of your site, add target="blank" right after the href="" like this (remove the ' in both of course )
<'a href="site" target="blank"> text<'/a>
It opens the link in a new window/tab.

And the EoFF link in the second example made me :D

don't use tables

Don't listen to them. Your website isn't complete unless you have tables in your tables for your layout.

Experimenting with tables is INEVITABLE. Who hasn't gone a little crazy in college and experimented with tables?

and I'm proud to announce that my website is ON THE INTENET.

Somebody stop me! (http://home.uia.no/cshunn05/hesten.html)

edit: oh right hobbies. I don't have any! outside videogames, I like insanity and having fun! I would love to have a website about some bizarre <img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" /><img src="http://forums.eyesonff.com/images/smilies/rpg_009.gif" alt="skull" />. just don't know what. and I don't have an xbox qwerty ;o

Why would you type that you're a worm?

"Llama Worm" -> "I'm a worm" Get it?

It didn't do anything when I typed "alpaca" either.

Don't do large code, my good sir. Are you allowed to have multiple files? Well, you probably have to...... What I did for learning HTML was make a website about me! It's still in progress, but Im planning on putting more sections in... like reviews on books, movies, music, etc.... I store every little element, including style, in different files, then just included them. I have a handy little site I frequent if you ever run into a roadblock. Actually, ApocalypzOrigin (sp?) turned me to it. I get on more there than here... heh heh heh :shifty:
