View Full Version : EoFF Cinema January Special! - There's a poll in my bucket, dear Leeza

Last time was really fun! 90% of the thread said MEAN GIRLS! Not many people showed up, but I think we all enjoyed it.

If you all wanna try it again I think we can decide on a movie by next week, and then watch it the week after. The best thing to watch in a group like this is probably a comedy or the cheesiest movie we can think of.

If you've never done anything like this before, what we do is we all watch the same movie at the same time and talk about it while we're watching it in a chat room or an MSN conversation or something. It's a lot of fun!

NOW SHOWING in #eoffcinema:

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Saturday January 24th, 3PM Central US time.

For those of you who don't know how to get there:
1. Click on Community in the handy little toolbar.
2. Go to Java Chat
3. Once you are in #eoff type "/join #eoffcinema"

Little Miss Sunshine is <3.

I was watching a movie the other day and while I was watching it, I was like "OMG this'd be the perfect EoFF Cinema film." Sadly, I don't remember what it was. :(

Last time, I think people just suggested Mean Girls with no intention of watching it to spite those who did want to see the EoFF movie! :p Even though Mean Girls isn't a great movie, I still had a good time watching it with you fine folk so I'd be down for it again.

...unless you assholes choose another chick flick.

...yes Mean Girls is a chick flick.

...shut up yes it really is!

I thought the intent of EoFF Cinema wasn't really to watch the movie but more to talk about and possibly mock the movie in chat. :p So it doesn't have to be the "best movie ever" just has to be fun to discuss. :D

Miriel

I thought Little Miss Sunshine was hysterical. A good movie to watch with other people.

I would've participated last time if it had been done in a thread rather than chat. I know know, these types of things are MUCH better suited for chats, but in chatrooms, there's that uncomfortable pressure to be saying stuff all the time. I don't like that. :greenie:

From personal experience the Shrek films are fun to discuss while watching them. I'd consider participating if one of them was the chosen film.

Or either Toy Story.

I would have participated last time if I had gotten the day right. x)

Little Miss Sunshine is great, so is The Grail. But I would like seeing something I haven't seen yet.

You should watch Breakfast on Pluto. Everyone likes a story starring Cillian Murphy being a sweet Irish transvestite looking for love and his mother, who looks like Mitzi Gaynor!

Is Tropic Thunder out yet? Lots of hijinks and hilarity and stuff blowing up. Robert Downey Jr's performance is reason enough to watch that movie. :p

In Bruges.

I tried screening this with a few people and it does not make a good group film. I enjoyed it when I watched it alone. But watching it in a group setting was kind of odd. It's a very quiet sort of film (although I did bust out laughing a few times) and a bit too dark and moody to go over well when you're watching it with a group of people.

WELL FINE MIRIEL >:\

Tropic Thunder would probably be a good movie for this. Comedies are almost always the best choice for something along like this because it has a wider range of options for everyone.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall would be another good one so long as people don't mind seeing tiny penises every one and awhile.

Serious movies aren't worth watching as a group because you should get into them rather than make fun of them (hence why Mean Girls was ideal). Go for funny things. Tropic Thunder was good, btw, I liked it - particularly Tom's character.

Watch Superbad or a really bad film like Chicken Park. Actually, don't watch Chicken Park, it's got porn in it and that's probably not cool. I don't even know. I'll probably not be around so yeah.

If we're going for movies to make fun of then I suggest narrowing the vote to Tropic Thunder, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and this movie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jesus_Christ_Vampire_Hunter).
Mostly because I have access to all three of them without having to travel through all of the snow and derailed trains around here :rolleyes2

If you want the cheesiest, weirdest, funniest, not that long movie ever, watch Superstar.

"Orphan Mary Katherine Gallagher, an ugly duckling at St. Monica High School, has a dream: to be kissed soulfully. She decides she can realize this dream if she becomes a superstar, so her prayers, her fantasies, and her conversations with her only friend focus on achieving super-stardom. Her big chance is a school talent contest; her main competition is Evian, the school beauty, who is dancing with Sky, the object of Mary Katherine's kiss dream. Mary Katherine gets some talent-show help from her fellow special education students, her grandma, and Jesus, and inspiration from secrets in her past. Watching are Sky, Evian, and a silent classmate"

YouTube - SUPERSTAR Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW85KbKYwYs)

It's an amazing movie. SUPAH STAH.

These three I wanna see more than others (damnit I forgot to check the "Little Miss Sunshine" box wtf D:) but I checked a couple others that are still like, enjoyable.
