I've just started watching True Blood on account of having watched all of Firefly and now feel slightly meaningless in the universe.

So what does everyone think of it? I'm 4 episodes in and it's keeping me entertained. Just the right amount of giggles to make sure it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Favorite bit so far is when the main character's brother drinks a whole vial of V and freaks out

I've been meaning to pick this up, everyone I know who watches it says it's great. I should get onto it.

Supposedly, vampirism represents homosexuality, I watched an episode once, it was fun, but anything I would watch religiously.

Yeah I just saw a picture of the ad but that's it. What's it about?

Supposedly, vampirism represents homosexuality

How's that?! I mean in general it's a very sexual thing, and in the Anne Rice books there's a lot of manlove, but...yeah.

Anyways I loved the show and people have been telling me to read the books but I'm not so interested in reading it...The show is good, but the cliffhangers are a bit too much for me sometimes...

Yeah I just saw a picture of the ad but that's it. What's it about?

It's based on The Southern Vampire Chronicles book series about some ho named Sookie Stackhouse in... I think it's Louisiana. She can read people's minds and works in a bar.

So the Japanese have invented a synthetic blood, and because of this the vampires of the world are coming out of the closet and forming a "Vampire Rights Movement." Some vampires are "mainstreaming" by living as humans and drinking only "Tru Blood," while other vampires are like "SCREW YOU PUSSY BITCHES I'M THIRSTY AND EVIL!"

The series is part murder mystery, part horror, part drama, part love story, and part porn.

It's not great, but I enjoy it.

In some ways, I enjoyed the series more than the books. I do love the books and all though. It becomes increasingly strange as things go on, but when I finally accepted the universe for what it is, I had a better time.

Sookie seems bitchier in the series. I don't know if that's good or bad.

I think that they relate vampirism with homosexuality, because I mean come on, after hundreds of years you'd be ready for new things too.

I love True Blood. I've seen the entire first season, and I'm so purchasing HBO just to watch the second season when it comes out during summer.
I like Jason <3
But Sookie looks like an alien. And Tara annoys the crap outta me cuz she looks like a man.

Good Show. I'm reading the books now too =)

Well.. I agree that vampirism is very sexual, but I don't know that it can really be equated to homosexuality in every case. I mean in a lot of literature/other media, I'll agree that the two go hand in hand, but I don't think that it's used as a representation, especially not in this show. But maybe I'm just missing something.
