They're not too hard, of course I had a lot of practice with games like Street Fighter back in the day with the diagonals. If you're having problems, use this little trick: Of the cardinal directions, tap the first direction twice, then move on to the next cardinal direction. Thus Aura Bolt will be down-down-left, Fire Dance will be left-left-down-down-right. Substitute two cardinal direction button taps in for one cardinal and one diagonal button "drag" and you should be able to execute the blitzes without any problems! :)

Yeah I simply could NOT do Aurobolt at all! Then I found out that you can do down, down, left instead and that made it MUCH easier for me. I would never be able to do Bum Rush if all I had to use was the PS D-Pad if they didn't allow you to tap- left, left, up, up, right, right, down, down, left.

I don't think it even tells you that there is an easier way to Do his Blitz's in the game. Naughty Square!

I don't think Square intended for us to be able to do them this way. :p

Rolling around the Dpad tends to work with occasional failures.

The worst part is it doens't tell you how to do it, you have to find other methods (i.e. the internet) to learn the comand - where Zell in FFVIII actually showed you what to do, newcomers are left to guess with Sabin.

It's always told you what to do. Under the Blitz section in the main menu it tells you what keys to hit for each Blitz.

Isn't that after you've done one for the first time though? I'll have to check.

Nope. As soon as you learn a Blitz it shows the details in the Blitz list in the main menu.

I thought that the Blitzes were easier to do on a keyboard than on a pad. Consequently, I prefer to play fighting games on a keyboard than on a pad, and I have to look really awkward when I play in tournaments for fighting games like Street Fighter IV which is coming out soon.

You don't even really have to enter them like you would in an actual fighting game- you just have to hit either down or left for down-left for example. Edit: Oh I see someone already beat me to it.

It took me the longest while to figure out how to use them since I never used to play those kinds of games.

Yeah, that's what I mean you "learn" one by doing it for example; pummel is learned by pressing "left right left" (or "right left right") for the first time. I never had any "blitz" comand instructions, until after I had inputted the comand. (before any asks, I learned them from a guide)

No, you learn them by reaching a certain level, even Bum Rush, although it's more efficient to learn it from Banon.

Sabin learns his blitzes at roughly the following levels:
Pummel: 1
Aura Bolt: 6
Suplex: 10
Fire Dance: 15
Mantra: 23
Air Blade: 30
Spiraler: 42
Bum Rush: 70

Whether or not you've input them before has absolutely nothing to do with learning the blitz.

I loved doing bum rush. Its been so long since I played I forget most of his moves. but bum rush was fun and easy.

I couldn't get it at first, either :(

When I pressed the two buttons together carefully to make a diagonal I nearly always failed, but when I just quickly rolled my thumb around the D-Pad, it rarely fails.
