What's yours?

I'd say .... 75-80 with maybe 2 errors....

My WPM isn't very outstanding. I correct any errors I make as I type, so I only get maybe 40-50 words per minute.

I've never cared to check. My typing skills are good enough to pass Keyboarding I, though. :p

I've hit 100 before at my typing class. The only thing about me though is that I have to go back and correct errors, but I still have a wicked fast wpm. If I don't go back and correct errors it's a lot less accurate but hella faster. I don't look down as I type... in fact, a few of the keys on my laptop have already had the misfortune of having the letters rubbed off. I no longer have a s d c b n m e. g looks like it's about to go.

Does anyone have a website where we can find out our words-per-minute?

Balzac

Probably about 40-50, I easilly get distracted when typing.

The second one made my brain explode. It's like keyboarding 1 all over again. My fingers moved so fast that I would mix up letters, and it would count as errors. It would be like 75 WPM with 9 or something errors XD then it would reduce the WPM to like 25 XD

79 wpm, no mistakes (I corrected them as I typed).

Scratch that. I prefer my later score of 2618 wpm, 102 mistakes.

I heard the QWERTY keyboard was designed to slow typists down so that they wouldn't jam up typewriters back in the day... odd how now we can't change it to a quicker layout because it's standardized.

What do you mean "can't"? It's very easy to do, ara ;)

1) download key layout Introducing the Dvorak Keyboard -- Switch Your Computer (http://dvorak.mwbrooks.com/support.html)
2) pop your keyboard buttons out and replace them!
3) learn how to type again

Mine is :skull::skull::skull::skull: because I make a lot of mistakes. I made one grevious error just typing that sentence, and another typing that little clause, and 3 more typing that little part!

That first link said 79WPM, and the second one said 83 :</>D!

At least seventy without many errors. I can't be arsed to try that site to find out something I already know; I've been typing at this speed since I was like seven. I learned to type without being able to look at my fingers and never really bothered using home row or anything like that, so when they taught typing in grade school I was always really frustrated.

I should learn Dvorak one of these days.

Gah, I know! They made me take it 3-6th grade, and then again in 8th grade! They make you start over every time and it was so annoying >.<

wow, that's tough, jesse.

i guess if you were using a laptop, you might not want to pop out your keys, but you could still just not look at them!

Your speed was: 66wpm.

Congratulations! You made no mistakes, practice does make perfect.

I heard the QWERTY keyboard was designed to slow typists down so that they wouldn't jam up typewriters back in the day...
Yes, that is partly true. I do wonder how the keys on the typewriter are connected though because I always found it surprising that the "e" and "r" keys are right next to each other.

I love qwerty and I'm never going back. I don't care if I can type faster, because I'll have to reassign all of the stupid keys in video games and I'm old and crotchety :mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:

I should be able to type above 70 wpm but I can't be bothered to find out. It's not higher than 90-100 for sure though.

I think whoever designed the qwerty layout was trying to come up with a new pick up line because he put U and I together

xD

I type fast enough. I've taken loads of test and my typing speed has varied a lot over the years depending on how I feel and what test it is. Some of them I feel I've typed really fast on and got something like 60-70wpm, others have me at over 80wpm even when I feel I've done badly. So yeah.

wow, that's tough, jesse.

i guess if you were using a laptop, you might not want to pop out your keys, but you could still just not look at them!
External USB keyboard ftw.

EDIT: According to the test linked, I type at 96wpm with no mistakes. I find this slightly sub-par, though, as there were mistakes that I had to replicate... in one test they had "he" where a "the" should be, and in another one they skipped a comma when using multiple descriptions.
