Second String: Hey, when do we get to play?!!!

We all have our favorite party members who just about never leave our group, where they are totlally awsome combatants or just your fave characters, we tend to brush off a lot of other great characters cause only IV had a 5 party system and its based on story than player chose. So in the larger casts of FF with more restrictive battle participants, who are the second string players that never get to see the battle screen until one of the golden characters is forced to leave?

FF VI : Terra - because I preferred Celes
Setzer - I never actually gave him a chance...
Relm - because she has the worst special skill
Mog & Umaro - because they are Mog & Umaro

FF VII: Cid - he is cool but not as cool as Vincent
Nanaki - because he's a talking cat
Yuffie - she tends to be very annoying
Cait Sith - nobody likes Cait Sith

FF VIII : Rinoa - least favorite Limit Break
Selphie - 2nd least favorite Limit Break
that's pretty much it...I switch between the other characters...

FF IX : Amarant & Eiko - I found their characters to be too underdeveloped...
Freya - well...you know...I mean,seriously,she's a rat!
Quina - ah, her/his Eat agonies...Not enough HP depleted? EAT IT ALREADY!

FF X : I used everyone due to the game mechanics
FF XII : same as X...

Gamer's OCD requires me to have everyone's level equal or as close to equal as possible. In fact, it's so bad that I try to keep everyone's EXP the same. :p Oh, yes, I've reset Final Fantasy III before just because one character died in a battle.

I hate that you cannot pull Cloud or Squall from your party. :mad:

FFVIII: Zell, just did not care for his fighting style

FFIX: Vivi: i'm not great with magic

FFX: Khimari: did not like that character

FFXII: Used all of them but least of all Penelo, she just wasn't as nice to look at as the others (until the end sequence that is, why couldn't she have been like that all the way thru lol)

VI - Everyone who's not a blonde chick with a sword, a twin, or a little girl with a paintbrush.

VII - Barret and Tifa, after Kalm they're almost never in my party again. Not sure why.
Aeris, never found much use for her after Disc 1.
Cait Sith, never found much use for him ever.
Vincent, don't see his appeal.

VII - Zell, probably the same reason I don't use Tifa.
Irvine, I guess I just don't like gun users.

IX - Garnet, Eiko is just better.
Steiner, kinda iffy. I like him and Doomsday Sword is awesome, but he's hardly in my team for some reason or another.

X - Tidus, for some reason when given the choice I kick main characters out.
Lulu, dolls moved to slow. Annoying limit break, Lightning Dodge.
Yuna, never summoned all that much.
Kimarie, never Blue Magic'D all that much.

XII - Everyone not Vaan, Panelo, or Fran.

I have a bad habit of playing favorites. I usually go through the instruction manual pointing out the characters I want on my final team based solely on looks. And it usually works, especially on these games where the characters are customizable enough to make up for any weaknesses you have by leaving people out.

VI - Never used Mog, Umaro, Setzer, Relm, or Strago. The others just appealled to me more I guess.

VII - Cait Sith - annoying cat
Tifa, Aerith, Yuffie - I was a sexist pig and thought only men could save the world.

VIII - Rinoa - Just annoyed me.
Selphie - Also annoyed me.

IX - Eiko, Quina, Garnet - I used mostly the physical fighters (except for Vivi, who is just cool.)

X - Everyone except Auron, Tidus, or Lulu.

XII - Everyone except Vaan, Balthier, Fran, and Basch. They were my fav. characters in that game (Basch especially).

IV & VI: Can't really remember. I know that my favorite parties by end game were Cecil, Kain, Edge, Rosa and Rydia (obviously), and Celes, Locke, Edgar, Sabin, Cyan...I think.

VII: I never used anyone besides Cloud, Vincent, and Yuffie really. Well, before I had Yuffie I used Aerith, and before I had Vincent I think I used Barret...maybe.

VIII: Haven't played enough to have a strategy...I just know that I will always have Squall and Rinoa in my party. Yay couples!

X: By end game never really used Wakka...I also NEVER used Rikku or Kimahri.

XII: Fran and Balthier got the shaft for some reason.

Kimahri is the only exception. The battles were set in FFX so that nearly every enemy would fall in one hit to a specific character, and Kimahri is just a clone of a character of your choice, so I didn't even have to go out of my way to make sure everyone was even.

VI: Relm, Strago, Cyan, Gau, Mog, Umaro
I try to fit in Gogo, Sabin, Terra, and Shadow when I can, but they are my first tier team for Kefka (because they deal damage, but wind up dying, which makes Kefka slowly bring up my real party).

VII: Barret, Tifa, Red XIII, Yuffie, Cait Sith

VIII: Can't remember, don't have it anymore, though I'm sure if you didn't have some form of insta-gib or multi-hit attacks, you would be quickly removed

IX: Steiner, Dagger, Quina, Vivi (post-game; otherwise, I used who I had to)

X: Yuna, Rikku, Kimahri, Lulu (post-game; throughout the normal phases, everyone had the same number of SLevels)

XII: Ashe, Penelo, Fran (yeah, I'm a chauvinistic prick)

FF1 - Thief - I've never used a thief, don't even know if he can steal.

FF6 - Gau, just cause I use attack a lot. Also I like to keep in control
Relm, cause I hate the sketch and when I do level her up I just make her a mage.
Strago, cause he is related to Relm and I hate the whole family apart from Shadow.
Mog & Umaro cause they just arn't strong enough. Mog is better cause you atleast get to control.

FF7 - Cait Sith, Red XIII, Vincent cause they don't deal as much damage with limit breaks.

FF8 - I use everyone!!

FF9 - Ekio, Vivi cause they're short. Quina cause I'm just afraid of what she/he/it is.

FF10 Well I like to atleast take a swing with everyone while leveling up. In the end it comes down to stats. I keep Yuna, Auron, & Tidu. Wakka is a freak. Lulu is to funny seeing her little mog or what ever attack. Rikku is a little worn out from X.II and I can't stand her anymore and Kimarhi is just dumb.

FF12 - Vaan, Penelo, and Fran. why? Cause I hate them.

FF7 = I've used everyone but the ones i wouldn't use again are aerith, barret, cid, red, yuffie, but red was pretty good though.

ff8 = I've used everyone in this too but the ones i don't use anymore is zell, selphie, quistis cos they have crappy attacks when using aura and thats what i use mainly at the end

ff9 = I've never used Amarant, quina cos i just don't like them and the ones i wouldn't use again are steiner, garnet.

ff10 = I use everyone since you have to use one of them at some point only until i get to zanarkand then i stop using wakka, kimarhi, tidus and auran, then again i sometimes still train tidus and auran to the end but they are not in my main party.

ff12 = Vaan, Penelo, and Fran.

Hardly used Barret but I would level him up quite a bit before he had to fight his friend, Red XIII Dunno why, Yuffie, again I dunno why Cid, once again I dunno why... Let's just say my main party was Cloud Vincent and Tifa, unless I had to have someone else in my party due to the storyline.

VII: Yuffie, Cid, Cait Sith 'cause they don't really contribute to the story or life in general.

VIII: I used everybody equally.

IX: Eiko, she's just weak and pointless.

X: Because of the machanics I used everyone.

XII: Penelo and Ashe.

VI: Gogo, Mog, Umaro, Strago, Relm, Setzer, Gau, and Cyan. I only really used Sabin, Terra, Celes, and Locke, and sometimes Edgar and Shadow. The rest sucked, in my opinion.
X: Kimahri, just because...well, he's Kimahri. And he couldn't do much damage unless he was in Overdrive.

gogo can do everything(except increase his stats) Mog has the moogle charm, gau is possibly the best in the game if used right Strago is a blue mage which is always good and character wise cyan is one of the deepest most brilliant ever created.

I do agree about umaro and relm but part of the reason VI is so great is the different ways to play through it using different characters and the fact that besides terra being the "main" character, almost everyone is equally important in the grand scheme of things.

Of course, your just answering the question but VI is the hardest for me to even identify a second string... Hmm... yeah relm, umaro and setzer.

VI-- gogo's inability to increase his stats makes him noticeably crappy compared to everyone else. Big deal, he can bum rush. It seems awesome until you notice that Sabin is doing 7-8 thousand damage with it and gogo is doing 3-4 thousand. The other is Gau, who really is useful, but I know I'll have to leave someone at the ship at the end, and while everyone is useful, the other characters don't require me to spend a good 6 hours on the veldt.

VII--aeris is a waste of experience. And no one likes cait sith.

VIII-- Zell's limit breaks were harder to pull off

IX- Amarat and Dagger were the only two who weren't God-like.

VI - Usually Umaro and Gogo (except in the collesium) Because they dont get any damn lines!

VII - I like to keep everyone equal but if i had the choice i would chuck out Cloud just to see where things went.

VIII - Same as above with Squall

X - Lulu's limit break was pretty pathetic.
