I'm planning to get myself a PSP and a DS sometime in the future.
What good games would you suggest? I'm thinking mostly RPG's and adventure games, but other games are welcome. I'm working on a list so I can keep an eye on those games on the net and in stores. GBA are welcome too.

Final Fantasy IV - DS
The legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass - DS
Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings - DS
Final Fantasy Dissidia - PSP (preorder)
The World Ends with You - DS
Chrono Trigger - DS
Metal Gear Solid: Portable ops - PSP
----------------------------------------------------------------

Those should do you well for a good while.

I don't know anything about the PSP, but I strongly suggest:

Trauma Center: Under the Knife
Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2
Etrian Odyssey
The World Ends With You
Disgaea DS
Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/*Platinum (*soon to be released)

Those are all DS titles. Go.

PSP
Brave Story: A New Traveller
Valhalla Knights 1 and/or 2
Star Ocean 1 and 2

and if you like Tactical Games
Disgaea
Final Fantasy Tactics
Wild ARMs XF

I can't think of any DS games that haven't been already mentioned

I already got most Squeenix titles on my list. Here's how it look so far.

DS:
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift
Final Fantasy III
Final Fantasy IV
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
The World Ends With You
Chrono Trigger
Lock’s Quest
Disgaea DS
Etrian Odyssey

(Looks like I'm getting a DS first)

PSP:
Dissidia: Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions
Daxter
Secret Agent Clank
Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness

Oddly enough have I never played any MGS game although my cousins love them. And I've never been too much into Pokémon. I've already played FFVII:CC on a friends PSP, but it didn't impress me.

I'm going to repeat myself and say to at least give the first Trauma Center a try. It's one of my favorite non-vertical scrolling shooter game series (not so into RPGs as I used to be anymore), and I recommend it to everyone who is looking for DS games. :D

How come no one has suggested the fabulous Phoenix Wright series? Its one of the most awesome DS series. I'm also for the Castlevania games and Digimon World: Dusk/Dawn. :D

DS:
Hotel Dusk (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hotel_Dusk)
Trace Memory (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trace_memory) (or Another Code, depending on where you live)
Ace Attorney (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ace_Attorney) (definitely my favorite of this genre!)
The World Ends With You (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World_Ends_With_You)

PSP:
FFVII: Crisis Core is the only PSP game I own, and it's pretty cool. Dissidia's coming up, and that should be a fun game for any FF fan n.n

If you're up for imports, Ouendan 1 and 2, as well as the American Elite Beat Agents are both nice games.

Super Robot Wars W is also good if you want a strategy game, there's a pretty comprehensive translation guide on Gamefaqs.

On the PSP, I thoroughly enjoyed Final Fantasy Tactics: Lion's War, and Jeanne D'arc isn't bad. I'm hoping to import SRW Compact, I think it is, as well as Vantage Master.

If you like Dragon Quest the remakes for the DS are pretty nice. IV and V are out now with VI on the way. And DQIX will be out for DS at some point too.

I think with these games and the ones I'm getting for the PS3 and 360 and with all the new releases coming next year, I'll have enough gaming time for at least a couple of years. I also have e few games I've yet to begin plus many I haven't completed yet(among these FFVII:screwy:.

Some games I haven't seen mentioned, (some soon to be released)
For the DS:
Blue Dragon Plus (if you liked Blue Dragon)
Luminous Arc 2(someone mentioned the first)
Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume (Releases next month)
Avalon Code (releases next month... The experienced Nintendo DS development team behind the Final Fantasy III and Final Fantasy IV remakes, Matrix Software, is at the helm together with the creative minds behind the Harvest Moon and Rune Factory series)
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time (next month as well)

I say wait for the DSi that releases in April if you plan to get a DS.

That is pretty much my life for the next few months. Plus Madworld for the Wii.

I've read a little about the DSi and I don't think I need it. It has a camera? I'm also going to buy my sisters old digital mirrorreflex camera, so no need for that one. I have an iPod so I don't need it for portable music and I want to be able to play GBA games and it doesn't seem the DSi support that. Other than that I couldn't see any specs info that should differ from the DS. And it's probably gonna be more expensive.

yes, but it'll also have internal memory for downloadable games from an online store, just like the Wii. It releases April 5 with a MSRP of $169.99.
The camera will actually be used for games in the future apparently. So there may be DSi exclusive games down the road.

If games will come for the DSi I might look into. But so far I'm gonna stick with the DS. Retrospectivity wins over the uncertainty of the future.
