The cover of 'Don't Let Go' by Deepfield got me thinking. Now, I adore cover versions of songs. I love to see a band showing their own take on a song, and in particular I love to see songs transposed (not in key ;) ) into another genre.
What, in your opinion, are the greatest cover songs you've heard?
Cradle of Filth's cover of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_gmY1vXAhjk">Hallowed Be Thy Name</a> by Iron Maiden is the greatest cover of all time imo. :p
Also Mat Weddle's cover of <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-8nkkOA_AM">Hey Ya</a> by Outkast.

I do love Twist and Shout by The Beatles, originally by The Isley Brothers :greenie:

Darn skippy.
Since the OP mention one of my initial picks, I'll go with........
Holy Diver by Killswitch Engage (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zSsESxSq5M)
Men In Black by Forever The Sickest Kids (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMf3JGITG_k)
Tennessee by New Found Glory(though the lyrics don't really match him;)) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mGWrsfwaLTo)
Somebody's Watching Me by Mysto and Pizzi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xkf95onRgcc)

Marilyn Manson's cover of Personal Jesus is pretty iconic.
Then there's Russell Watson's version of Rod Stewart's Faith of the Heart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGgp21-uHrw), which works for me.
There're undoubtedly more, but these are two that really come to mind for me.
Oh, and William Shatner's attempt at Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is also great, but not for its musical merits.
