So does anyone else here listen to The Strokes? Any favorite songs? Or do you think they're an overrated piece of crap?

Personally I'm still stuck on 12:51. Juicebox and Heart in a Cage are also stealing my heart. :D

Their debut album is This It was almost absurdly overhyped, especially in the UK, but thankfully it's still fantastic all these years later - not the best debut album ever or anything like that, but a terrific record all the same. The Modern Age, Last Nite, Someday, Take It Or Leave It - plus in the UK we got the better album cover and New York City Cops on the album :)

Room on Fire was rather underrated I felt, suffered a rather unfair backlash in places, and Under Control especially hinted at a direction the band could take. As for First Impressions of Earth, the first half is very good but it goes off the rails after Electricityscape, and the album is about 15-20 minutes too long, Their strength clearly lies in short, punchy albums, stick to about 35 minutes like you did on Is This It/Room on Fire next time guys!

I'm still interested to see where the next record goes, I hope they still have it in them to make another great album.

I like them, They're laid back type of music, I only own Room on fire, but I've heard the others. Not the greatest band in the world, but worth a listen for sure.

I enjoy them, a good band to chill out to.

Favourite song is either "New York City Cops" or "Barely Legal".

The only thing about them that irks me is how pompous they are in some interviews, and I think only Jules and Fab are the only ones that'll really entertain the interviewers. :(

Yeah as much as I like their music I can see why people might dislike them. They do come across in interviews like a bunch of very rich, lazy gits - but that's because they probably are! :D They're from such well-off backgrounds they can afford to be in a band almost as a hobby really. Thankfully a musician being a git is rarely a barrier to me liking them.

True, but sadly sometimes people have that as a barrier to liking their music.

What I think is, if you're really that into music then how the musicians act, and how their lives are like shouldn't affect you. B)
