I think of Nick Naylor everytime I see Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight.

Probably because they are the same actor.

Yeah I know but Heath Ledger's Joker doesn't remind me of another Heath Ledger character...hell he doesn't even remind me of Jack Nicholson's Joker Heath was just a completely different character all together.

Heath Ledger was a pretty big method actor and did a lot to get into the role of the Joker. I don't know if Aaron Eckhart is the same, but really, Nick Naylor and Harvey Dent are pretty similar characters even if he is taking the method approach. They're both cocky, have a pretty firm set of morals that they push, do a lot of public speaking, etc. Luckily Eckhart is good with that kind of character and pulled off both of them wonderfully.

Eckhart didn't immerse himself in the role like Ledger did. Ledger spent weeks, if not months, preparing himself to take on the part of Joker. Eckhart did a pretty good job, but Ledger threw himself into the role and made himself almost unrecognizable.

It also helps that Harvey and Naylor are both pretty regular guys. Heath Ledger doesn't play a maniac with face paint in his other movies.

I enjoyed both films. Yeah they're similar characters, but Eckhart plays it damn well. And he becomes a homicidal crazy guy in one film, which is different from the other film he's in.

And you deserve a better avatar than that Little Mermaid crap. :D

Anyway the reason why I started this thread is because I just wanted to point out that it seems like Aaron Eckhart wasn't playing Harvey Dent it's like he was channelling Nick Naylor through Harvey Dent instead.

I'm saying I think Aaron Eckhart was channelling Nick Naylor's personality through Harvey Dent instead of portraying the comic book creation.

Is that suppose to scary me? Because the only thing that picture does is make me smile. :D

I agree with you. When characters in Dark Knight would talk about how Harvey Dent was the hope for Gotham, I just couldn't believe that Dent was an honorable character because Aaron Eckhardt reminded me too much of his much less honorable characters in Thank You For Smoking and (even more) In The Company Of Men.

I didn't see either of those films so I didn't get that feeling, but I've seen previews for TYFS which had 'til now slipt my mind. So, yeah, I kinda see that now. Still, I didn't even recognize Heath Ledger in that makeup. I've never heard him talk like that before either. I'm used to him being the hunk-lead-role like Josh Hartnet. Although I was surprised to find out he played that agent on Z-boys or Dogtown whatever the hell that was called.
