As I'm far too lazy to actually write all this stuff down, I'm actually going to quote two people for the rules. I will be playing by Gobo's rules and by Qwerty's searching rules.

And trust me, you don't want me to make the questions that hard.(I have the game guide)

You've been warned.

So, Goldenboko used to hold these trivia contests a while age, and here is the return of them in time for this Glorious Eyes on Plays. (A Jewish on time is always a bit late :p)

You are not allowed to search the internet to find answers for these questions. There is no way I can control you, but I trust you guys. Play fair. If I suspect people of searching for answers, I'll give you warnings and probably make the questions a lot harder.

So here are the rules, copied from Gobo himself.
One of these threads was once closed because of off topic chatter, so no of topic chatter UNLESS its paired with an answer or a question about the thread... (I prefer it if you keep chatter to a minimum.)

Ex

OOC: lol yeah right.

Hey qwerty, I thought _____ was right as well
The point system works like this
1 point for... Answering a question correctly, or Noticing an error in my question
2 points for... Noticing an error in my question, and answering the question correctly.
3 points for... Finding my answer to be incorrect and providing a correct answer and a source to back up your correction.
I will wait a little while and declare all who answered it correctly with points... please though hide your answers in spoiler tags, unmarked answers=No points. (Also It makes me have to toss the question if it's not marked :()

Remember, spoiler tags are the  button in the area above where you type replies.

Question #1: After arriving at the trainstation and beating up the gaurds there, you can find a number of items in this area(Reactor No. 1 and surroundings). What items are there and how many of them?

edit: I will give half a point for each correct item.

Play it?

I thought I'd start off with a toughie.

espritduo

I know a couple off the top of my head - You can check one of the fallen guards at the train station for a Potion, there is a Phoenix Down where Biggs and Jessie open the doors for you, there is a Potion in the room where Jessie gets her foot stuck, and there is of course the Cure materia in the reactor room where you set the bomb. If you're including your escape back to Sector 7, there is also an item(I believe another Potion) in the large open area of Sector 1 where there are billboards and electricity and people running around.

But let me get this right - It's alright to actually boot up the game and play that part to get the answers if you want to?

Aerith's Knight
03-02-2009, 03:05 AM
Sure, seeing as people doing EoFF plays would otherwise have an unfair advantage.

Levian
03-02-2009, 03:37 AM
I've played that part so many god damned times, I should know it, but I probably don't.

2 potions, a hi-potion, a phoenix down, Restore Materia

Jiro

Two potions, an ether near Jessie, Phoenix Down and Restore Materia iirc

Carl the Llama
03-02-2009, 10:56 AM
Your question is possibly wrong...

The first two Potion's can be picked up before the fight with the guards... or did you mean exactly what you said in which case the answers are: 1 Phoenix Down, 1 Potion, 1 Restore Materia, an Assault Gun and a Potion.

FFIX Choco Boy
03-02-2009, 12:50 PM
3 Potions, 1 restore materia, 1 phoenix down, and if you're indeed including the area with the Loveless billboard, then the grand total is instead 4 potions, 1 restore materia, and 1 phoenix down.

Aerith's Knight
03-04-2009, 04:29 PM
The answer was 3 potions(2 on first gaurd, one with Jessie), 1 phoenix down and 1 restore materia.

Also, the question was wrong, because Cloud didn't fight the gaurds. KaiserDragon had that right, and I'll grant it this time, but

When you say a question is wrong, you say it as thus: "The question is wrong". If it is right, one point will be given, if not, one point will be taken.

1/2 point given for each correct item, and 1/2 be taken off for each wrong one.

Point count:

KaiserDragon - 3 points
FFIX Choco Boy - 2.5 points
espritduo - 2 points
Levian - 1.5 point
Jiro - 1.5 point
sora_lion_heart - 1 point
Goldenboko - 1 point

Next question:

What is the name of the item that creates the images on the waterfall in the Ancient city?

espritduo

That would be the wonderfully translated "Key to the Ancients".

Saber
03-04-2009, 05:04 PM
the question is wrong. Its a key item not a regular item. right? anyways I say "Key to the ancients"

FFIX Choco Boy
03-04-2009, 07:03 PM
Key of the Ancients, found underwater with the submarine inside of an underwater cave, somewhere "Not even the sun can reach."

qwertysaur
03-04-2009, 07:47 PM
Key to the Ancients. Also the restore Materia can be argued because while it is found in the Sector 1 reactor, it is not actually obtained until the sector 7 slums :p

It cannot, seeing as I said find, not obtain. You can obtain ethers, assault guns and a bunch of gil by smacking around security gaurds, but I didn't ask that.

Skyblade

A Black Chocobo named TEIOH whose rider is Joe. Although, actually, that is not necessarily the hardest one. TEIOH's stats are based on the Chocobo that you are racing with, and if you have one with a poor top speed, his can wind up being too slow, even with its awesome stamina, to win.

* I'll give you 3 points if you can prove it with a screenshot, because I don't believe a chocobo with that bad a stats can enter S-class

I can do it with a series of screenshots. The last one shows the decisive loss.

The lowest I've ever seen Teioh was a top speed of 88 in an A Class Rank, when I had a (not so) Good Chocobo with a top speed of 80.

Teioh's top speed is always 10% higher than yours, and his stamina is always 25% higher than yours. His sprint speed seems to be the absolute max no matter what, though.

Oops, almost forgot my answer to the new question!

No, it does not. At other times, it allows you to fight random encounters in the room with the alarm. During the raid on the Underwater Reactor, however, those encounters are activated anyway. The only change is the noise and the red light.

Aerith's Knight
03-10-2009, 01:28 AM

This of course, proves you have no life, but kudos, the points are yours. xD

jk, good job.

FFIX Choco Boy
03-10-2009, 02:20 AM
No, it does nothing.

Saber

yes it allows monsters from the underwater reactor to be fought. Good exp for early on.

espritduo
03-10-2009, 06:58 AM
The only thing sounding the alarm does is activate random encounters in that room(and make the officers training there run off like a bunch of scared rabbits). You can actually do this the first time you enter the room waaay back on your first visit to Junon and fight much more powerful enemies than you're supposed to, gaining levels like crazy.

Jiro
03-10-2009, 07:42 AM
Not apart from making the noise and lights, because battles are already enabled. Usually there aren't battles there, in which case the answer would be yes, but you were specific.

Ugh, I just killed one. 1600.

espritduo
03-20-2009, 06:15 AM
I'm giving the mistranslation because that's what it is called in the game. It's not called the Tough Ring at any point in the game, it's called the Touph Ring, just like Aeris is never called Aerith and the Demon's Gate is not called the Demon's Wall. I'll always give the most correct answer I can, even if it is a victim of mistranslation. If you're honestly going to dock me for being more accurate than other people's answers, well...I don't even know what to say to that, but I'm certainly not going to lower my standards. Besides, if you don't want people acting "smart" and picking apart your questions, don't openly offer bonus points for it. Anyways.

The Ghost Ship gives 1600 exp.

Aerith's Knight
03-20-2009, 01:52 PM
It may have been mistranslated in the original ps1 game, but I'm going by the PC-version and game guide.

And if it really was mistranslated in every way, neither would it be Tough ring in the game guide, nor in the other 7 answers of the people above you(It's still Aeris in the Game Guide). I'm not going to debate answers between the ps1 and the pc version, nor does that matter in this game anyway.

It wouldn't even matter if you just called it Touph ring, or Demon Wall, or whatever. It does matter if you give half a page of explination of the fact that the ps1 version sucks in translating, trying to score bonus points by pointing out the difference between pc and ps, because we all know that by now. By bonus points in picking apart answers and such, take as example the chocobo one, because Skyblade clearly proved the answer wrong.

D - 3 sources

Aerith's Knight
04-14-2009, 11:56 PM
The correct answer is C. 2 sources (magic and gaurd)

The Power source you might be referring to is in the cave a long way away from the actual city. But I grant that it is still in the same general area.(just not the city) However, because it is a grey area, I will grant the points to those who said D, and give the C answers an extra 1/2 point.

DarkBahamut

B. 40,000. I would think 50,000 would make the fight too hard. 50,000 times 2 =100,000= Enough HP for a boss + Ruby Weapon = Two boss fights (A hard one and normal one.)

And 30,000 can be killed by a simple 4xCut.

Saber
04-15-2009, 10:15 PM
b around 40,000. cause I used the brandy guide and used bahamut zero and 4 time magic which hit 9999 * 4 = 39996 and they were dead although thats really close to 40,000. Darn it.

the numbers are really close.

Alright, the first of may seems like a nice date to start things up again. The second round has begun people, and there can only be one winner. I am currently trying to negotiate a prize for the winner.

The answer was of course an Ether, I won't count pride as a full point, because.. you know, he never had any to begin with. This is the first and last round I'm giving such points to joke answers, btw.
