It's back baby. Mafia XIII, this round’ll be hosted by your very own Bahamut2000X and Goldenboko! Signups for the thirteenth edition of mafia has begun. Please make sure you read the rules, as there will be rules specific to this game.

How to Play Mafia

The Basics (http://www.sitesled.com/members/mikeburnfire/mafiascum04.swf). If this is your first time playing, read up, and if you just need a refresher, click away!

If you decide to sign up you shall be given a private message when the game starts with a username and password. This will be your anonymous account that you will use to play in the game thread.

Rules specific to EoFF Mafia
Borrowed from a long list of people

Unless specifically mentioned in your Assignment PMs, all Mafia related discussion must happen in the Official game thread. Please do not discuss the game using instant messengers, IRC, Private Messages, voice chats, phone calls, snail mail etc. etc. No, we can't enforce this because we can't spy on you, but we would appreciate it if you followed this simple rule.
Do not reveal your role privately to each other. You can of course role claim as part of your strategy in this thread. Just don't do it outside the game.
Play nice. Even if you are using second accounts, don't resort to flaming and whatnot. Kill each other without resorting to being mean.
Please make all posts in the Game thread under your specific Mafia accounts.
Play fair. Also known as the "don't be an ass" rule. Being an ass includes cheating, diverging completely from your assigned role, going back and deleting or editing all your posts, using asshole-ish methods [M] to find out information about other people's roles, etc.
Do NOT use your Mafia accounts to post in any non-Mafia related threads.
Regarding roles and accounts
All of the roles were assigned randomly to a player and then those were randomly assigned to the character.
Don’t roleplay, it’s annoying. I know it is. Play your character how you want though. There will be no penalty to anyone who does role play.
Don’t share with others who you are or what your password is or what your role is. This makes it lose its fun-ness. Think for your selves guys! You don’t need anyone else.

Rules Specific to Mafia XIII

Do NOT discuss during the night phase. The game thread will be closed, but the signups will be left open if you continue to discuss in the signups you will be warned to stop. 3 strikes, your out. Get it?
Each role will be custom. What does this mean? Vanilla Townies, will not be called Vanilla Townies. Cops won't be called cops. Etc. etc. There will also be some... different roles. Be prepared.
If you don't think you'll play, don't sign up. I'd rather have 12 players who play the entire game, then 17 with 5 who barely post.
You must make 15 posts every two game days. Fail to do this, and you shall be replaced (not modkilled).

Days will be 24 hours long (unless a majority is reached of course), and nights will be 12-16 hours long (note the variable, if it's apparent that night roles are all in different timezones I will be willing to cut some slack).

I'm going to be a black sheep and say I actually like the activity rule. The towns have lost successive games lately because of their silence, and the balance has truly swung in favour of the mafia. Plus, games aren't as fun with everyone being silent! :D Man, I still can't believe people were actually defending inactives in the last game!

Obama, how would you know about a deciding vote if you were supposedly inactive? You came in with a tie and decided to stay there,. But you voted for a townie with little reasoning and seemingly lucked out on who to vote for, the next day the same people who stayed on Eisenhower later spread their votes instead of easily hopping on voting Roosevelt. Could it be reasonable to assume that those who banded together to vote a townie spread their next votes to remove suspicion? You could have used the split to engineer a trick, but the votes never came to the 'Trio of Evil' or Teddy, who we now know is Mafia. Elaborate on how this merely coincidence as well.

Awesome! When you see my role you will see why I did this everyone, it means you get 2 lynches tommorrow. GoBo & Matt. A great setup! I would have just had one more pro mafia role, like a traitor. That would have made the game a bit more balanced in my opinion.

I figured the addition of Self Centered would make it more equal. With that setup mafia could've won if they where sneaky during the day. That's what I wanted, make the mafia think.

Maybe something we could do to make the mafia more cunning is to hand out roles a few days before the game begins. That way mafia will be able to talk before they get thrown into Day 1 all of a sudden. As we've done it up until now they won't get the chance to effectively talk until Night 1 at least, and by then the damage from Day 1 may have already been done.

Outside of EoFF, some do (I think it's a popular rule at mafiascum.net?) and some don't. But outside of EoFF, the hosts vary a lot of rules, though. Like some don't give you a full flip of people who are lynched, some don't let you lynch unless you have a majority, some announce the set up before it begins, etc. etc. Our games here at EoFF are pretty much identical.
