I wanna know what peoples opinions are on the darkest/most evil character in the FF series.

Personally I think Trance Kuja was flippin' insane...

The main character in FF4 for ps1 was dark even though he turns into a paladin later on

Sephiroth, he had that "I'm going to kill you in 5...4.. not running?..3.. <draws up katana>..2...1... <casts fire>" in his eyes

For villains: its Kuja, Kefka, and Hojo

The other villians really don't come close to these three.

For heroes: its Leon and Auron

Course the most evil is Nojima, cause his terribly writing has forever lowered the standards of an entire generation in terms of plot and character. :roll2

Kefka was the evilest but he was very bright about it.
I think Yu Yevon was quite dark.

Does Yu Yevon even count? It just seems like a mindless bug to me, no different from your Spider or rabid dog.

I am very depressed that no one has mentioned Zemus/Zeromus. :(

Ouch!

Would it be insensitive to say Barret?

He was a character? I thought he was just an overused plot device that showed up in the last 2 hours of the game, another FF did the same thing, what was it called, Necron?

I second that.

Vivi, he's jet black. But I think the world must be pretty dark from his point of view.

Kefka wasn't Dark he was just mad, and he reveled in his madness, enjoyed it, as much as i like Kefka as a villain he's just not Dark... Sephy was dark in every cliche` way, even when he was a hero he was brooding... Seymour was also very dark and brooding thouh like Kefka he seemed to revel in his insanity a little too much to truly be dark... shades of grey aside those are my favorite villains but only one of the three is actualy dark...

Villain: Sephiroth. Forget going against the grain, he was the darkest by a mile.

Hero: Vincent, or maybe Squall.

if we add heros to the mix don't forget Kain of FF IV he was also dark & brooding...

Seymour of course. Only few people would actually admit to themselves that his character was pretty damn cutthroat and ruthless regardless of how easy it was to beat him...
