View Full Version : So, Republicans, have you been tea bagging lately ?

A most hilarious thing happened here in US: Republicans decided to protest high taxes and high government spending by re-enacting an historical revolt from 1776, the Boston Tea Party, where rebels dumped the king sponsored tea on the Boston harbor.

A nice idea but what could you call such protest ? I guess "Tea Party" sounded a bit girly and childish so a lot of conservatives started calling it "tea bagging" based on the fact that tea nowadays comes generally in bags.

Problem is "tea bagging" has a very naughty meaning:
http://tbn2.google.com/images?q=tbn:Fc9aIWdvOXEQ8M:http://i69.photobucket.com/albums/i45/tylerhasenclever/tea-bag-1.jpg Cat being tea bagged

They had their protest day April 15th and were mocked mercilessly on the media, because just a few came - less than a single Obama rally - and because of their entertaining name for the thing. And now they are up in arms because the rest of the country is laughing at them. Including me :D

So have any of the forum resident GOP fans have been teabagging ? Has it been draining ? Exhilarating ? Did it leave a sour taste on your mouth ? Was it good ? :D

Oh and get this.. Their next protest is 2 million men for marriage, or as craiglist woud say 2M4M . I'm not making this up!!!!

ya for the Brits and other Europeans here :p

Besides, this one is more to laugh at the name than to discuss the merits:

Republicans: Tell us your experience of waving your tea bags around on April 15th

Sane people: suggest names for the next Republican protests and causes:
Dirty Sanchez for anti immigration ?

I wonder if those folks even know what 'teabagging' denotes these days... probably not, I'd guess.

I don't much care for protests that are based on mindlessly mimicking some popular/trendy format, instead of making an actual point about something. The Daily Show illustrated this well: a bunch of protesters bragging about the truckload of one million tea bags they'd bought for their protest. A truly pointless waste of money on a disposable foodstuff, just as set decoration for a protest against... financial irresponsibility?

This little shop is in Urbana, Ohio. When we were coming home my mom's aunt saw it and was wondering why we were laughing so hard. We explained to her what tea bagging is. She was mortified. :D

Republicans, no wait, excuse me, right-wing extremists are funny. At least some Republicans are intelligent.

Nothing beats a nice warm teabag after a long day. I should join them in their endeavor.
