View Full Version : The EoFF Set Swap

Welcome, my fellow EoFFers in arms!!

(realizes how awkward this sounds coming from me, and decides to sound more Evastio-ish)

Yeah, so basically I've decided to run an EoFF Set Swap. So you're probably wondering what is a Set Swap? Well the general idea is to have members switch sets, so that people will be confused as to who's who because they are so used to that member having a certain type of set. For Example:

http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii157/Kyudi/ForExample.png

Also, it's your choice whether you want to make a set "that represents you" for someone else to use or let them use one of your previous sets. What I also plan to do with this is have EoFFers try to guess who's set each member is using. We might do multiple set swaps depending on how things go.

So who's interested in joining this? You can either state you want to join in this thread or PM me saying you want to join.

...How? xD

Thanks Psychotic for both stickying this thread and getting it back on track.

And just like o_O said, we'll be PMing each other the links (or code) necessary to copy each others' sigs. I know it'd be easier just making a thread where we help copy each others' sets but I'm wanting it to be secret until we all officially swap sets, and also because it won't spoil the set swap guessing game.

And so far only Sagensyg and qwertysaur (at least his post implies that he's joining) has signed up. We're going to need a lot more EoFFers participating than this guys.

qwertysaur

Yup! Tell me when you have the images saved and I'll make that post make no sense ;)

Also it might be a good idea to but spoiler tags around the sample you have to keep the opening post short. If you type="text" in the opening tag, you can control what the spoiler text is instead of simply Spoiler. :cactuar:

Okay, I've got the list updated and I'm using qwertysaur's suggestion to shorten my first post.

So although a lot of you probably have a good idea as to what sig you're planning to let others use, I've decided to make a few suggestions that'll help you decide what direction you want to take this in.

- There's the typical "swap your current set with someone else" idea. This is probably what you'd want to do if you're wanting to confuse other members with your sets. On the other hand, it's a dead giveaway for the Set Swap guessing game.

- You could also give someone else one of your previous sets to use. Though it might not confuse members as much as the first suggestion would, it'd at least give you an edge in confusing others for the Set Swap guessing game, especially if you haven't used that set in a long time and it doesn't fit your current set style anymore.

- If you feel up to it you could also make a set that's "your style" and let someone else use it. It wouldn't give you away that badly for the Set Swap guessing game (unless you're really into anime or chocobos or something like that). It may not confuse members an insane amount, though it may throw some of them off.

- And lastly, there's the evil "make a set that I'd never use and swap it with someone else" plan. This would probably be the most effective way to mess people up with the Set Swap guessing game. As for confusing members with the set swap, I guess it'd depend on the type of set used and which member is using it.

You don't have to use any of these suggestions though. I just decided to post them so you can easily put the Set Swap guessing game and the confusing member parts into account before deciding how you're going to do this.

Also, I'm trying to decide whether people should be assigned members to swap sets with randomly or if people should choose their partners through PMs. Randomly assigning people to swap sets with would be easiest, though I'm guessing a lot of you would want to choose your partners. That'd kind of complicate things though, since people may not be able to find someone to swap sets with in the end, making it unfair to people who aren't online during that time. I want to hear your input on how we should assign people members to swap sets with.

If anyone is wondering if you're supposed to keep "who swapped sets with who" a secret, once everyone is using their swapped sets, I guess that's up to you. I mean, something like Sagensyg with a strawberry set is a little too obvious to be able to keep a secret. Though at the same time, you don't want to be helping out people too much since you're giving away your chance to win the Set Swap guessing game.

I also forgot to mention, even if you aren't swapping sets with anyone you're still allowed to participate in the Set Swap guessing game. Though in a way, you're at a disadvantage compared to the members who are participating since they automatically have one right answer from knowing who they got their set from.

I'd suggest assigning and then letting us know through PM's. Otherwise I'll completely forget I'm doing this.

I guess we'll stick with the "assigning people members to swap sets with" plan unless we get enough objections or someone can come up with a way to easily have people choose partners.

We'll probably do the actual set swapping sometime during next week. I'm planning to keep it open for a while longer so we can have more participants.

Okay, May is almost here so if you want to sign up for this now, you've only got a few more days.

Alright, I've PMed all the participants telling them who to give a set to and who to receive a set from. Since it'll probably take a while for everyone to swap sets we'll probably be holding the SSGG a few days after today.

My set is that sexy, I've decided not to give it back to qwerty and keep it for myself.

With Ranty just been knighted, it would make it a hat-trick from the Scandanavian 4ever group if I were to get become a CK. TRIPOD :monster:

So to all of you participating (and for those of you who want to join if we decide to do a second set swap), what do you think we should do regarding the set swap? Should we just keep using our swapped sets until the Ciddies are announced? Are you interested in swapping sets again?

I'm personally leaning towards swapping sets again, but I'm not sure if we'll have as much participation. Also, I think the Ciddies will be starting soon.

Okay, since no one else is objecting I guess I'll officially end this Set Swap (this thread can be unstickied now).

I'll hopefully be running another Set Swap eventually (or I might let someone else run it for me).
