It would be interesting but considering almost everyone who worked on the project is gone now, I don't see it happening. At best, we might get a port with new localization and translation and to be honest, I would be fine with that. I don't see the point in changing something that worked perfectly the first time. ;)

The cinematics made me wish that there had been a full length animation based on Xenogears. With more of the Elements. Models kits of the Gears would've been nice too.

As for the game it, I liked it fine the way it was.

Voice acting would be nice. And a more action packed disk 2. Fei and Elly setting in a chair for two hours as the story was told to us was boring. Did they run out of money or something?

Apparently yes, rumor has it that the money was taken from the project and given to FFVIII but I believe the truth is that game was hassled with delays which caused a slim budget.

I like the second disc though...

Don't get me wrong, I liked the 2nd Disk. I just found the majority of it very boring.

I understand, I just get sad when I hear people talk about how they don't like it. I don't hold it against them though.

I'd settle for a re-release as I'd like to play the game but refuse to pay the going price for it used even when I don't know for sure I'd like it.

Not sure how I'd feel of a Xenogears remake. It is too revered. A re-release would be fine.

I remember expecting that the Xenosaga series would be like a remake of what Xenogears was meant to be.

That was originally meant to be the concept of the series: to reimagine the stories produced in Xenogears Perfect Works with a full backing of resources. The actual product ended up being much different and I still wonder if the story of Xenogears will ever make it to another medium someday. I doubt it considering the way that the Xenosaga series unfolded behind the scenes.

Something tells me this idea would be far from profitable for SE.

I don't know. I think it would be a nice side project. I think a remake would be goo for this game. I know everyone is thinking, if it ain't broke don't fix it, but I'm not saying remake the game and change things, I'm saying update the graphics, maybe add some more FMV's and yes maybe spruce up the second disc a little. Don't get me wrong. I loved this game and wish I still had a copy.

As long as it has faster moving text.

There is definitely enough material about the Xenogears story and world to create a series if there was enough interest.

A translation of Xenogears: Perfect Works on Flickr (http://www.flickr.com/photos/29956195@N08/sets/72157616593453778/) gives you an idea of how much writing and planning goes into the creation of a game environment. Surely, if there was interest internally in Square Enix, a project like this could be created.

Yeah, but most of its staff is gone and now estranged from each other, so the likelihood of the product feeling like the old game is slim if it were to be remade or continued under a new team.

A port like the Advance series would be great though I doubt they would be able to add much extra content (maybe the ability to play the Gera battles AdHoc or online though...) but mostly I feel the game needs a better translation and a few tweaks to the audio and visuals to make it not look like an eye sore at times.

From what I have noticed, a lot of remakes have little of the original team aside from a producer or a scenario writer because remakes are mostly graphical updates with a few new scenarios added. The Final Fantasy IV DS update had one of the original scenario directors, but most of the material is there for them to work with. I'm sure if Square Enix wanted to contract Tetsuya Takahashi or Soraya Saga for a Xenogears remake that they could make that happen, so I would not completely discount the possibility, but I do think it is very unlikely.
