I adore this show so far. It's like an ironic High School Musical.

It's ridiculous and funny and full of talent. Lea Michele is the star, and she was the original Wendla in Spring Awakening, and basically one of the most talented vocalists I've ever heard. The songs are fun and over the top. I'm not really sure what the plot is so far, but I don't care.

OMG I WATCHED IT TOO! I knew I had to watch it when I saw the amazing rendition of 'Rehab' in the commercial.

It was sooo funny too! My favorite part was when she was like, "I have two dads, and I was born when they mixed their sperm together and injected a surrogate with a turkey baster. To this day, we have no idea which one is my dad." So funny!

I can't wait for fall!

I finally watched it. It was hilarious. I definitely recommend it.

I like when the Akron school's glee club is sweetly singing the word Ohio three times and then they spontaneously break out into singing Rehab. xD

Freya

If you go to hulu.com they have the pilot and the second one up right now. The third episode just aired tonight so just hop over to Hulu before they take em down!

It had a strong opening but the second episode wasn't that great. The singers are all very good in their own right but I don't think they mix well with each other. It turns into an overly corny jumbled mess and the choreography of the dancing appears lackluster. If it was less about the singing and more about the lives of the members of the Glee club, it wouldn't be as bad, as the writing is witty and charming most of the time. But it's more about singing than that.

I'm really enjoying it so far. I love the slightly subversive humor. The humorous stuff works really well, but the show kinda crumples when it tries to deal with things like teenage romance. The picnic scene was kinda cringe worthy. But I like the singing, and it's fun and snarky. And I always love me some snark.

See, that's where this show gets me. I couldn't tell if that scene was SUPPOSED to be so horribley corny that you were meant to cringe, or if that was supposed to be acting. Because that's how I feel about a lot of this show - it's so over the top.

I love it though! Though, by the third episode, I'm losing interest. They have to spice :bou::bou::bou::bou: up a little. My favorite song thus far was the "I busted yo car" or whatever. Fucking classic.

"Oh Bambi. I cried so hard when the hunters killed your mom."

Oh my god, I just about died from laughing at Kurt and that one line. Also:

"We'll get you sobered up... and find you some panties."

&

"I bet you thought Bert and Ernie were just roommates too."

xDD

Kristin Chenoweth is amazing. Now all they need to do is get Idina Menzel on the show as Rachel's biological mother. It would be perfection. The love triangle stuff grates me, but I love the humor. I love the singing and dancing. I listen to the songs from Glee all week long.

I think this episode was better than the previous two because it didn't have the wife in it. There wasn't the stupid baby crazy woman thing going on and they we'rent so much pushing for a moral.

Hahahaha I love Mr. Shushter (?)'s wife. She's bat :bou::bou::bou::bou: insane. I hope they take the baby stealing plot line further, its classy.

Anyway, I totally loved the last episode. I think the show's first few episodes (ie. 1 and 2) were good for what they were, I really didn't like episode 3 that much ... but I think the show's starting to find it's "groove" as it were, and episodes 4 and 5 were fucking classic. CLASSIC. I love the drum choruses going on in the background whenever dramatic :bou::bou::bou::bou: is going on, its just great. I also hate Rachel, there are no redeeming qualities about her character. So far the stuttering asian girl (who's name i don't know), the gay kid, and the ghetto-fab girl are my favorites. I wish that they would do some more episodes where they focus on a specific character (a la the Single Ladies episode), because, while this plot driven stuff is good, I think some character driven drama would be betttttttter~

Soooo happy that so many of the storylines have finally come to a head. Only gripe is that the song selections aren't as good as they were the first few episodes.

But still, I think this is the most quoteable show on TV right now.

"They weren't singing, they were like... honking"
"I am reasonably confident that you will be adding "revenge" to the long list of things that you're no good at. Right next to being married, running a high school glee club, and finding a hairstyle that doesn't make you look like a lesbian"
"I'm taking you to Sue Sylvester Express. Destination? HORROR."

That was awesome. That Candy chick talking about the deaf glee kids made me lol probably a little too much. xD

I wasn't super excited about the songs they ended up doing at sectionals, but I was happy with how they were handling it so whatev.

After Mercedes's solo I had to pause the episode and look up once and for all if they do their own singing and dancing, and they totally do so now I <3 this show even more.

I like the show but its advertised really badly here in Aus, they pretty much show the closing number for the next episode in every advertisement its a major spoiler fest and has ruined the series for me unfortunately. Not to mention they advertise it every single ad break they get so by the time the episode comes on your sick of the song.

For some reason that's incredibly important to me, so I looked it up after the first episode. If that wasn't the case it'd probably have killed the show for me.

Anyway yeah, I wasn't crazy about the final song choices but it was still really nice. And having that Quinn business cleared up felt good. :-} Looking forward to a new season with new great performances.

I can't wait until season 2! I am SO glad they finally go that Quinn thing out of the way like Rantzy said, cause that was really bugging me that Fin was left in the dark and yet everyone (except Rachel, Schuster, etc) knew about it. That was just uncool.

Also, I <3 Mercedes. Rachel shall always be my favorite though :D

LunarWeaver
12-11-2009, 09:11 PM
I'm glad Mercedes finally said something to Rachael about her vocals. They go on and on about how Rachael is the best voice when I have always found her second best. Finn has got to be the worst. That :bou::bou::bou::bou: is autotuned like mad.

Anyway, I liked the finale. Very Glee. And wrapped up a lot of storylines instead of throwing cliffhangers left and right. That was really nice to see in a show for once. Truthfully, the lack of cliffhangers makes me more excited to continue than if they had frustratingly left a bunch of new or current storylines tensely open. They left some stuff open to be continued, but not a ton.

Where is Quinn living now? She was living with Finn, but I imagine that's become awfully uncomfortable. She should live with Kurt since they're both bitchy-nice and could do each other's hair.

Freya
12-11-2009, 10:24 PM

Re: Glee Cast Being Real Singers

I'm sure you've already found your answer, but there are several videos of the cast going around promoting the show, singing the US National Anthem at baseball games and stuff. They are good.

The principal is still my favourite character.

I absolutely love this show. Having been in Show Choir in Highschool, they clearly have taken a lot of liberties. Solos are NEVER that prominent, and it's more about the group than soloists. That said, they hit the drama on the head. A lot of people think this is over-the-top, but if you think about it, a lot of highschool drama really is THIS ridiculous. Not really the stuff with Schuyster and his wife, but the actual kids, it's fairly accurate, even though it is somewhat farcical and over the top.

Glee got nominated for 4 Golden Globes.

Best Television Series Comedy or Musical
Best Actress Comedy or Musical - Lea Michele
Best Supporting Actress - Jane Lynch
Best Actor - Matthew Morrison

Yay Glee!

Jane Lynch for sure deserves a win for her work on the show. She's fabulous.

I'm no judge of acting ability, but Matthew Morrison seems pretty damn solid to me. Hell, all three of them really make their characters amazingly lively. Sue is one of my favorites; she's dastardly but has just enough good moments to keep her interesting.
