Just saw the news. It's about time:
Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39N-vV-9xO0&feature=related) and Graphics (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lm3-RRgXtnI&feature=related) (not playable demo, apparently, but it showcases the combat style, which seems the same as GS and GS: TLA, and it shows off the summons).

I loved the first 2, and now finally... after 5 long years...

6 long years. And I agree. The first two games were brilliant, and I'm really looking forward to a return to Weyard, and all the characters we know and love. That did look like Isaac in the trailer, so we should be continuing his story. His, and Alex's. :)

Aww... That's not as much fun, but oh well. It should still be a good game.

Well both Isaac and Alex got part of the power of the Golden Sun, so at the very least those two should still be alive. Piers probably went back to Lemuria as well, so he would probably be alive as well. If it's direct descendants, then they are all probably still alive.

It's funny how they look almost identical to their parents/grandparents or whatever. Who knows, we might be looking at a couple of generations difference?

Maybe its a ruse and those are them and you start out the game with them and like MGS2, an hour and a half in, you switch out permanently as the story jumps ahead (to their kids?)

The character who looks like Garet looks like a man, which means it could be our original heroes in the future. After all, they were only 17 or 18 in the first two games. They look pretty cool regardless
