What is your favorite museum?

I'm positively gay for Museum of Natural History. It's my favorite. I really want to see the MoMa, too, it looks fantastic.

(hey, if any EoFFers are going to be in the NYC area in the next few weeks, I really want to go to the MoMa (Museum of Modern Art) with them. It'd be fun. I highly doubt any of y'all would be willing to travel because I don't think anyone here lives in that area anymore, but it was worth an ask!)

I did love the Museum of Natural History, and I also do want to go to the Museum of Modern Art.

Best museum ever though? Imperial War Museum.

The Museum of Natural History is a magical place. I love it there. :p

Also loved the Smithsonian museums in Washington DC. I could spend days in each of them :D

I've been to the Neil Armstrong Museum in Wapakoneta a few times. COSI in Columbus used to be really good but it's getting progressively lamer each time I go. And there's a museum somewhere around WPAFB that I've visited; obviously it's all about aeronautics.

I've been to the Smithsonian as well. And the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago.

I haven't been to too many museums. I could've stayed in the Louvre for a lot longer than I did though. I wanted to go to the Musee d'Orsay, but it was closed :(

I enjoyed the displays at the space center in Huntsville, and at JSC in Houston.

The trouble with travelling with people is that no one else is interested in museums. I would've liked to visit the Tate or the national gallery in london, but noooooo.

I loved the MoMA. It was really interesting and I want to go there again. I had to stand in long line in the rain to get in, though. Another place I also loved and really wanna go back to is the Metropolitan Museum - just the amount and diversity of art they have in there is incredible! Loved it. All the fantastic pieces of art I saw in those places... Oh my God.

The Smithsonian museums of Washington were also enjoyable, and they're free(!), which is really neat.

I adore museums in general.

I had to go to the MoMa as a field trip for my Literature class this year. There were people sitting on a couch looking at the same video of fish swimming around for hours. And a random foot appeared out of no where. I'll pass on the invitation...

There's an awesome children's science museum somewhere in or near Las Vegas.

I've not visited the Imperial War Museum, but the Science museums are absolutely fantastic. Manchester has a good museum too, as does Liverpool.

I went to London February and visited the National Portrait Gallery which was pretty enjoyable and is certainly something I've love to visit again. The picture that is my signature is something I saw there and was one of many pictures that I really liked.

Museum of Natural History is relatively close to Metropolitan as I can recall. I would preferred to go in there. Though the large totem poles at the Met were pretty cool.

Also, hahaha! I'm skeptical about the Museum of Sexuality. And I've been to some pretty weird ass museums; especially one where they had wax penises in jars...it was like the Museum of Black History or something. It was really smurfing scary.

Yeah, if you ever want to go to Museum of Natural History sometime this sometime, let me know.

And yeah, I know what you mean. I think it's more sexuality MEDIA then anything else, but I'm scared to go because it might have body parts from dead people or something, like the Body Museum. I'd love to go to the Body Museum, but I'm SQUEAMISH. xD

I'll be in Manhattan on July 30 in the morning/afternoon but I expect I'll still be drunk from the night before and mostly focused on catching my evening flight despite my impaired state.

good museum in NYC? the MTA transit museum is pretty cool.

They were mandingos.

why would the museum of black history have wax penises in jars?
That's the same thing I asked myself. They also had wax hands in jars and bloody wax slaves being thrown to the sharks...

maybe they had a sign explaining the reason, but you didn't read it. or maybe those were actually jars of pickles.

There's an art museum in Dayton, OH that I went to many, many moons ago. I remember it being hella tight though.

The best one ever though is Columbus Science Institute, COSI! Or at least it used to be, I hear they made some changes and it's not as cool. But it used to be the tits.

The guy who spent his time making most of the wax figures stated that they were in fact wax penises in jars because I few people asked. But, I like the idea of them being pickles a lot more. :pickle:

Exploratorium. Does that count?

I like history or science museums. Not art.

The King Tut artifacts came to a museum in SF recently, I might go see it.

Ok I'm disappointed in Psy for not having mentioned it, however I can kinda see it's slightly off topic. Recently on meeting up in London for much random fun as can be had in 1 day myself and Psy decided because it was baking hot in Trafalgar Square and I was already burning like a piece of steak we would seek refuge in the National Gallery, however being us we couldn't be normal men in the national gallery we decided to go in with the sole objective, see if we could without breaking any laws or rules get asked to leave the gallery. So starting with the "what can we say about these paintings" tactic we failed though the security was watching us quite closely, I believe because we were actually being quite comedic and several haughty types gave us decisively dirty looks. We then tried the "what random topics can we discuss in here and get kicked out for?" well I have to say, girlfriends, how free people we know are with sex (how loose they can be ect) and then finally but not least we chatted about penises, not just any penises but giant dildo penises and the fake one used in the end scenes of Hostel part 2. Needless to say this had some security guards laughing pretty damn hard but still we never got asked to leave, in the end we had to give up because we had spent around an hour attempting and failing to do this. The lesson learnt, in museums and art galleries even talking about loose women and fake penises will not get you ejected from the premises though it will draw you countless dirty looks from arty types and at the same point countless laughs from security.

I would have to say one of my favourite museums is the Natural History Museum in London though the Museum of Film and TV related things on the south bank near the Hayward center is brilliant too since it had cool things like blue screen technology, a dalek you could climb in to and do the voice and movements (yes it was an original dalek from the original dr who series which was awesome!) and stuff like that it was pretty cool but I can't remember the place's real name.

All I can think of when I read "EoFF hits museums" is a picture of Rye punching a museum. I actually expected a photo of this when I opened the thread.

Disappointed is an understatement. :(

Natural History Museums of any sort are basically brain porn for me. Although I went to this one in America somewhere, and got locked in for the night. Normally this is just a little weird, but everything came alive and I was lucky to get away with my life. Had I not figured out that T-Rexs enjoy fetch, and that Atilla the Hun likes magic, I almost certainly would have died.

I should totally get paid for that clunky little plug there.
