Do people fly kites anymore? I tried to make a kite once and it failed miserably, Has anyone made an eoff based kite? Any fond/traumatising memories related to kite flying? Were box kites really originally designed as a means of drying wet string?

I saw someone flying a kite at gasworks park a couple weeks ago.

I won a "build your own kite" kit from some function in elementary school. I was six years old and tried to build it with no parental supervision, it did not end favorably. Of course, I'm almost twenty-three now and can't build anything without someone holding the directions, handing me parts, and lovingly calling me a retard for attaching things to the wrong side. 8-)

My kites always sink to the ground. Gravity can suck it. :colbert:

I've never successfully flown a kite, I think. Now I want to try again! I bet my doggies would love it!

I remember flying a kite as a kid, but that's the only time I can remember right now. It didn't work well since there really wasn't any wind that day.

It's been a while since I've flown a kite. I think I have one on top of my cupboard.

I flew one in college. :</>D

I remember when I was about 5 these people were making kites and they offered one to me. My parents made me refuse it though because they were like "There is no such thing as a free lunch!" I was sad :p

It was shaped like an eagle and its beak
was made out of polystyrene
There were feathers and talons
It didn’t fly too good, one day my cousin and I
were flying it in the field
It crashed into a tree and stayed there

I saw somebody flying a parachute. The small kind you use with a wakeboard for self-propelled fun.

The wind picked up and launched the two of them into a tree.

Still, I would do it myself if I had one.
