Hello, I haven't posted on these forums much at all and I registered this account quite along time ago. I generally just like to read things, but the other day I stumbled across this amazing production on youtube lead by a user who goes by 'Actorman999'

I know there is a lot of these video game fandubs out there, but Ive never come across one that is actually this well done. They have some top notch voice actors involved, one of which (Sean Chiplock) who plays Stiener in every episode after 1.4 was actually the winner of the AX idol 2009 for voice acting.

So far they are very regular with updates, and manage to create an almost movie like atmosphere in each episode, including the fights (the ones that get left in). There is some excellent filler done by the actors.

I just thought a good number of you (at least in this section of the forum) would really enjoy watching these if you have not yet seen them.

Here is a sample episode to get a feel for the quality:
YouTube - Final Fantasy IX Dub Episode 3.4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_00kW2XknCM)

Hope you can enjoy it like I have ;)
You can find the whole list of episodes currently finished here (http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=DFD14D562C2A2842)

I remember watching that a couple months ago. I always wanted to participate in one of these, but never got the chance, mainly because I don't have a mike.

Oh, nice to meet you, btw! :)

EoFF actually had its own project to dub voice acting over FFIX, back when the game was still new. It was called Wings (after the big scene with Alexander), and despite a lot of enthusiasm, it never really went anywhere. I auditioned for Steiner (for some reason) and Salamander (as you might imagine). Maybe Zidane, too. :salamander:

I can't say how good Wings might actually have been, but this one seems pretty all right, if still markedly amateurish.

I'd love to do voice acting for stuff like this but I don't have good enough recording equipment. It's so annoying when you watch something that a lot of different people have recorded and the quality varies from line to line.

In any case, I find dubs of game dialogue really awkward to watch. Even though the writer knows that people are speaking, they always seem to be writing in written English rather than spoken :/

This is pretty well done. I especially like Steiner's parts.

That was pretty good. I'm never really satisfied with voices for Vivi. They either sound like a hollow speaker phonmes or too kiddish. it's probably too hard for me to establish a voice for a character with no face. The Zidane actor, spoke a little too softly at some points where I could barely hear him. I thought the Dagger girl and Steiner actors were funny.

I rather enjoyed the RPG Maker sound effects as substitutes. :)

I'm enjoying this. It doesn't take as long as playing it either :D

my gawd i wish i didn't click on that link, most fan-dubs are bad and i was actualy hoping this one was good cause of the crazy FFIX fans devotion to the game, but i could not get through 5 minutes of it, the acting and pronunciations especialy of Zidane's name was so utterly horrible i had to stop it...

Yeah, it's definitely not for everyone lol:p Nice to see some others who also enjoy it.

Zidane was pronounced correctly, as far as the English language goes.

Sounds like it could've been a really good project. Pity it didn't actually come off in the end. Despite having never heard your voice, I imagine you as a Salamander or Kuja type.
