Just looking for a little advice or a model you made of some good characters

Im thinking i want a job of somthing like a dark knight mabey but what should i sub, best race for this, ect, ect, im going to look into it now but any advice on good character creation is greatly appreciated.

This (http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/index.php/Main_Page) is my favourite site regarding FFXI. I'm just starting up now (going through some payment problems, but I'm pretty sure I know what's wrong), but I did a ton of research before even considering playing the game.

I think everyone would agree that you should pick the race that you want to pick. The race differences mean pretty much nothing. Statistically, the Tarutaru makes the worst melee class. However, due to the amount of equipment and stuff you can get, the difference between the Tarutaru and Elvaan warriors becomes almost indistinguishable. Pick the race that you think looks coolest, and pick whichever job you want.

It is mostly noticable when it comes to HP and MP values. I'm a mithra and it is terribly awesome.
