As I am going across the ocean tonight for 2 weeks to study in Cambridge, I was packing my suitcase when it occurred to me that the word "color" has a 'u' in it in their version of English.

So which one is better to use EoFF, color or colour? Firefox says color is better, but Firefox also said Ivysaur is not a word so I have some apprehension blindly following it, and the internet HAS to know the answer. :p

Different wavelengths of light should do.

Colour is the correct spelling, only those pesky colonials drop the "U." Firefox is sypathetic to subversive revolutionaries.

Let me ask you this, qwerty. Does Pokemon have a U in it? Think about it.

The Americans can't help it if they have to dumb down their language for illegal aliens.

Look at me, I beamed right into Logan Airport and all I had to do to slip by undetected was wear a sombrero. Also I may have killed a few people when I landed.

Coulour, oubviously.

And here I thought this thread would be of substance and actually talk about crossing the Atlantic. Sad, sad.

Is it dishonourable to belabour the thought of spelling it 'Poukémoun'?

Yes, very dishonorable. Nobody will Pokemourn your passing. *dodges rotten vegetables*

It's color.

Why do you think those British pansies lost the war?

Because, uh... we let you win! You better not make trouble, or we might have to let you win all over again.

Ergh. With no u, it just doesn't seem right. It's like seeing spelling mistakes everywhere :(

Color (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_(law)) is already taken imo.

I spell it "colour" - I guess because that's what I learned in school, although at the end of the day I speak more American-English than English-English.

Australians are the descendants of rapists and purse snatchers.

I am offended by this because one could easily steal the purse after the rape, or steal the purse and beat the soon to be rape victim with it, knocking them out and making for a hassle free rape. They shouldn't have do to one or the other. Reach for the stars!

They are both correct.

I prefer color on account of my incredible laziness.

Same goes for most places and people :(

That's because you have the US-English dictionary installed. The UK-English dictionary spells it colour. :) As do I.

British English should be considered a redundant title...

I live on both sides of the ocean, so I use both colour and color....Some times the two different spellings are on the same paragraph....Pisses the hell out of Microsoft Word!

Honestly, need we even discuss this? Colour is the only correct answer and anyone who fails to recognise this fact is clearly very silly indeed.

I speak proper English as spoken by the English because the English are the ones who invented English and so the Americans aren't really speaking English*

*As explained by a documentary about the journey of the English language. It was pretty boring

I like the "u included" version myself :D Perhaps because I'm aspiring to re-acclaim the English citizenship that my greatx5 grandpa so eagerly gave up? One will never know :D

Also, England is beautiful. You will love it

@Jiro: My boyfriend is forever reminding me that we don't speak English. It makes me sad but it's true :( We speak American!

manoeuvre vs maneuver too.

I hate British English so much. :mad2:

I dont' think I'd be able to spell maneuver. manoeuvre makes sense from a francophone point of view, however, and thus is easy to spell. Viva standard rules of spelling!

As far as color vs. colour, all I have to say is

couleur
and

houtdoug!

the implication of course is that even the british are doing it wrong, so you might as well go all the way instead of just half-assing being wrong.

Oh and don't tell people to "Just sit your fannies down right there," as a waitress did to a friend and I. You'll reduce all British people to giggling school girls.

Europeans are just jealous because they didn't invent gonzo porn and school bathrooms for transsexuals and more fast food restaurants than citizens and that American football is manly.

Now that's progress!
