I've been playing FF6 on the gba, the whole game has been pretty easy, but now when the world is messed up, I got completely lost and everywhere I go, I fight hard bosses that wipe me down. There isn't any direction on where to go next. The last thing I did was beat the storm dragon and the ice dragon. any help plz

Which characters have you found so far?

Use a guide or walkthrough to put you on your feet if you need direction. Also the best thing to do to make battles easier is level grinding, I'm afraid. Look and see where you can find your favourite characters and the best weapons on the internet, if you're stuck. There's no point in playing if you're not having fun!

yea, you're right. I need to level grind for my weak party. the next palce i think i need to go to involves breaking my party into groups but I always make a weak group and a strong one. btw I'm missing Relm, Shadow (I heard i left him so hes gone forever), and those two other guys in that pic on the far right
this game really lacks a useful map. how can anyone know where each town is at if the map doesn't say the names.
You need to get Relm before you can get Strago. My advice is to level grind a bit, because a lot of the monsters in the WoR can whip your butt in no time flat.
I didn't really use the map, because I pretty much had all the locations memorised. I'm not sure I could do that now, and describing locations is impossible. I will try and help you to find the remaining three characters though.
Relm - Relm is found in a cave on the Veldt iirc. There are four bandits inside the cave, and she is found in the back.
Strago - Strago is located at the Tower of Fanatics, which you'll probably fly over in the airship a few times. It's the tower surrounded by rocks I believe. You must take Relm with you, and then talk to Strago.
Gogo - Find the triangle island and let Zone Eater swallow your entire party in battle. Just sit there without attacking and it should work. Then make your way through the new area to get Gogo.

Relm - Relm is found in a cave on the Veldt iirc. There are four bandits inside the cave, and she is found in the back.
Actually thats just the sequence you have to go through to activate the quest to find Relm. She is actually in Jidoor, In the big house at the back of town (The one with all the paintings), You have to examine one of the paintings (I forget which) and go through a dungeon and fight a boss at the end where you'll find relm. The dungeon is quite a puzzler so I suggest a walkthrough.
Also some other side quests you might find interesting are:
Cyan's soul - Go to Doma with cyan in your party(and 3 other people) and sleep in one of the rooms. Then you'll go to a sort of dream world (A walkthrough is advised for this as well). WHen finished you get all of cyan's swrdtechs (Bushidos) and alexander esper
Ancient castle - Go to figaro castle and ask the old man to use the going underground device thing. Then when you get stuck go and explore. Go to the prison cells and exit out the back of one of the cells. There are alot of treasures in this place (Including offering which lets you do 4x Hit) so a walkthrough here would be useful too.
Duncan - On the world map there is a set of tree shaped like a + somewhere north of narshe go there with sabin and you should meet duncan who'll teach sabin bum rush

awsome, thnx dudes. I needed this. but why is it so hard just to find your partners again, they're hidden well for ppl who never beat the game. I was disappointed when i got lost because i beat the other FF games with no prob.
btw, i tried the game again earlier today and I accidently beat the earth dragon. i got lucky, he kept attacking and not usin his deadly quake attack. he has a small amount of HP. float would've helped in hat battle

depending on who you leveled in the world of balance, the early parts of the world of ruin can be quite tough because you have limited party members. Also, I think the depressing nature of the world of ruin saps morale.
You're right on the morale-sappin'. As soon as I regain control of Celes I just go ugh. But I force myself to get Sabin, Edgar and Setzer so I can party on the airship. But man, the colours are just horrible. The WoR really blows.
Wolf Kanno
07-23-2009, 05:18 AM
If by blow you mean blows my mind!
The easiest way to level in the WoR is to go to the island northwest of the Veldt that has Damacyan Castle on it. Solo a party member and cast float and vanish on them and have the Exp.egg equipped. You get insane XP and level really quickly. I used it to beef up my lv 50 party to 65 in order to do the Dragon's Den in the GBA version.

Although it is a good spot for grinding all the spells you want without gaining levels; that way you can use any Magicite you want to raise any stats you want without having to think about who's learning what spell.
Or if you happen to be doing a low-level game and haven't set any other limitations for it :P

Relm only ends up with Owzer if you waited for Shadow on the Floating Continent. If you didn't wait for him, Relm will be in the cave where you'd otherwise find Shadow. (This actually led to an oversight in the SNES localization, where a line used when recovering the character in the cave mentions "her," even if it's Shadow.)

wow I'm weak, my strongest party is only lv 35, 36. the game HAS been gettin really heard. grinding will be a pain in this game, wheres the best place to grind?
btw, is Leviathan ever beatable, he raped me with his tidal wave move with over 7000 damage

Leviathan is easier if you get armor that absorbs water attacks. But you should level up more.

The best place to grind is in the forest on the map north of the veldt shaped like a dragons head. The dragons there are strong but give alot of exp. Even better if you have the Growth Egg from Darril's tomb
eestlinc
07-24-2009, 10:04 AM
be sure to save often when fighting in the dragon forest nuke mentions. even the Tyrannosaus can take you out unexpectedly, and the rare Brachiosaurs most likely will kill you.
And be sure to steal imp equipment from the dragons there too.

I cant remember the exact directions in Daryls tomb for the exp but it's the room before the one which leads you into the pool with the turtle (As in the one where the water level falls and you can enter the pool to pull a switch)
What you do is go down the stairs into this room and then keep going right and walk through the wall.
The Dream world is really confusing, a walkthrough is advised because if you miss any treasures you cant go back

A little tip for leveling, if you visit the desert south of Maranda, you can fight Slagworms and Cactuars there. They both give 10 AP. Cactuars give no exp, and Slagworms give about 5000 (?, been awhile, but it's a pretty good amount). They're a nice alternative to the dragon forest, since the monsters are much easier to kill. Slagworms are vulnerable to Death if I'm not mistaken, and they're really weak to ice. Cactuars can be taken out with Tools, Blitz, Throw, even Sketch or anything else with 100% accuracy. I always go there when teaching spells to everyone.
Just be sure to avoid the left side of the desert, one of the spaces there has an extra boss you may not be ready for.

Did you fight an Io when in the dream world? (They appear only in the segment with the Magiteck armor) They are one of Gau's best rages.
The best places for grinding vary on what you want to do. Magic grinding do on the Veldt if you want to avoid getting experience. It is best to do this while getting rages for Gau as that can take considerable time to get a specific enemy to appear. Everything after here is mark in a seperate spoiler.
You also get a very nice amount of AP in the fanatics tower (where you find Strago) but be warned that you should get either reflect rings for everyone and you can't do anything but cast magic. Finishing the tower gets you the soul of Thasma, which lets you use doublecast but also stops you from summoning espers. The Holy dragon is also there.
There is a mountain NW of Kefka's tower. Locke and the Red Dragon are there, as well as a very useful esper.
go under the sand in Figaro castle for another area where you can get Odin and if you want upgrade him to Raiden. The Blue dragon is also there.
The opera house also has a dragon. The final two are in Kefkas tower.
After beating the frozen esper, I can't spell it's name for my life, jump down to get another esper and character.
There are three bosses that were added to get espers in the Advance version. Gigantaur to get cactuar in the Desert, Gilgamesh in the Collesium, and Leviathan ion the ferry. They are all difficult without prior planning and can and will cause a lot of pain very very rapidly. If you missed Mog's Water Rondo the Leviathan battle is the only chance to get it in the World of Ruin. He is beatable, you have to keep spamming curaga on everyone because he hits hard and fast with his multi target attacks. Hastega is also very useful.

I find it interesting that people actually have difficulty in the WoR, not only with difficulty, but with direction. Simply though, the game does give you directions. All the way til you get the airship, it's very linear, then after that it shows the pigeon that you should follow. Then by talking to people in towns, and typically after you get a new character, you are advised on places to go. So while the world is completely wide open, it does give advice on the order to do things.

haha thats true, I just gave up wit the game after i had my ass handed to me by several bosses.
thnx for all the help guys, I'm all straightened up now, I've done everything I needed to do which is grind, beat all the bosses, and find the rest of the missing characters. I beat Gigantuar, deathgaze, red dragon, the dragon on the fanatics tower, magic master, and master tonberry. I'm only missing Leviathan. Beating the Fanatics Tower was a pain in the ass, Literally. I had to go up to the top, then walk back down. I started this topic when I was lv 32, now I'm lv 65 with all the magic learned with mostly everybody.
I'm just wondering what lv everyone should be when I'm going to the last place. Kefka's Tower.
btw, I'm playing this on a gba emulator on my psp :p

Best levels are 45+. The thing that makes the last dungeon difficult is that you need to split your party into teams and they all have to fight multiple bosses through their sections. Thus you need to makes sure you make balanced parties or just over-level.
mattkd
07-29-2009, 06:07 AM
45 huh. I got everyone on at least lv 50 except gogo and umaro. everyone knows mostly every magic. I need help getting into the mountain north of thamasa. and I need help learning Gau's rages. I need an explanation for that, I don't understand how he learns em
Wolf Kanno
07-29-2009, 06:55 AM
Gau only learns his rages on the Veldt. Put him in a party and when you get into a battle with a monster, use his Leap command and Gau you will leave with the monsters to learn their ways. Keep battling and eventually Gau will appear after you defeat a few monsters. Don't attack him and eventually he will talk to you and rejoin. I believe he only learns the abilites of the monsters who were present when you used Leap though I have jheard he learns the abilities of the enemies you defeat when he appears again in battle.
As for Thamasa. Put Strago in your party and return to town and you will hear about an old acquaintence of his. It will eventually get you access to the island.
Also, if you have the Fake Mustache Relic for Relm. Make a party with her and Strago when you are on the Veldt and use her control ability she gain with the relic to help teach Strago more of his Blue Magic. He's actually pretty powerful once you get a majority of his Blue Mage skills.

and thnx for the tips qwertysaur, I appreciate it, now i see why I'm missing so much espers
blackmage_nuke

qwertysaur
07-29-2009, 01:23 PM
The monsters on the Veldt are most of the monsters you find in the bestiary, and will only appear if you have already defeated one in their normal spawning locations. If you missed one in the World of Balance or in the burining house where you get Sabin, then they are gone forever. A couple bosses also appear on the Veldt. (Such as the Holy Dragon)

07-29-2009, 10:34 PM
oh crap, I didnt know every monster appears there, the only monsters i seen was the same monsters I already got. right now I just stepped into the last dungeon, its pretty easy. pretty weak compared to other final fantasy games, in ff7 you need to be at least lv 72
Wolf Kanno
07-29-2009, 11:04 PM
Not really, I'd say 50+ for FFVII as well. Final dungeon isn't too hard if you have Ultimate Equips and the right materia.
As for VI's FD. It depends on your party set-up as well. Its not too difficult either. Sad to say, final dungeons haven't been difficult since IV but that's just mho. ;)

07-30-2009, 03:03 AM
I have another question. Is it always best to have Bahamut equipped since he gives you 50% hp at lv up? Is it worth equipping other espers like the ones that offer strength + 2 at lv up? That seems like a little bit
blackmage_nuke
07-30-2009, 03:08 AM
Yes strength +2 and what not are very useful (+speed from cactuar is also quite handy). Incase you didnt know 50% hp means that if you normally would have gotten +100 hp at level up then you would get +150 hp instead. It does not mean if you currently have 3000hp then at level up your hp jumps to 4500 like many people seem to think.
mattkd
07-30-2009, 04:21 AM
ooo I see. I thought having strength + 2 was useless. I wish it was at least +10
Wolf Kanno
07-30-2009, 05:27 AM
Don't worry about that... Surprisingly, stats mean a bit more in this title than some of the others. +2 anything shows a difference fairly quickly after a few levels. +10 would break the game and god knows VI is pretty easy as it is. ;)
If you are going to play around with esper stat bonuses, I'd suggest building to your characters strength as opposed to covering their weaknesses. It keeps their uniqueness.
NeoCracker
07-30-2009, 06:46 AM
Hey he has some great wind and water attacks as well. :p
He's got a lot of good attacks, its just that with Grand Train dealing Non-Elemental, which works good on anything non-magic resistant, can't remember if FF VI even has any of those types, as well as having higher power then his other attacks, it kind of makes the majority of his abilities obsolete once you get it. :p
Wolf Kanno
07-30-2009, 07:14 AM
Aero and his water spell are more efficient when dealing with enemies since there are like a handful of monsters in the game that are immune to wind and water... Throw in its MP cost they are far more practical until you face bosses then Grand Train is your best friend. :p
NeoCracker
07-30-2009, 07:24 AM

To be on topic, and somewhat less of a jerk: yeah, some of the relics feel almost like cheating, and the game isn't too hard. But the good news is, you now have a bonus dungeon, the Dragon's Den, awaiting you, and it's actually pretty hard. There will be some battles in there you won't be able to coast through, even with all your awesome toys. Glad you seem to have enjoyed the game thus far.
