Marvel have already tarnished what we like about Wolverine (Which was wanting to know more about him)... He makes a very lesser leader than the awesome that was existant when he was a sidekick... I still sometimes watch "Wolverine and the X-Men" for the awesome mutant cameos... but yeah, it's all similar stuff (Including the recent feature film based on him).

The swishy character design doesn't bother me so much as what looks like an animation budget of about fifteen dollars. That's always depressing.

At least his claws are shiny.

I thought Kenshin. xD

What hurts the worst is that this is is from one of my favorite animation studios, who has produced some series that range from rather (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6YR4pehBKko&fmt=18) good (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMWIKpLbieM&fmt=18) to absolutely (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VTEMxvCbem0&fmt=22) stunning (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTxhqDtdaRs&fmt=22) quality. What a shame.

What the hell are you people talking about? That looked awesome.

Of course it looks awesome, but that is definitely not how Wolverine should ever appear. He looks too bishie in my mind. He's not supposed to be bishie, ever!

This is Wolverine.

<img src="http://www.derekwalden.com/images/blog/characters/wolverine.jpg">

The one in the trailer for the anime is NOT Wolverine.

Everything but that abomination that's supposed to be Wolverine looks pretty cool, but the fact that they made him look so... generic makes it irredeemable. Thus my disappointment with Madhouse. :-/

um...

*yawn* Japan ruined Wolverine

See attachment.

They did not ruin wolverine.

But seriously, @topic itself: WHAT?

The images themselves appear stylish, but the "animation" mostly consists of one barely-animate object being moved over another. It might as well be a slideshow.

<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pj5HDqipQYw&feature=related&fmt=22">This</a> is what it looks like when animation actually animates.

Yeah, it does look like they're just moving sheets of paper across other sheets of paper, but it still looks cool. At least the oni with the scythe that he killed looked amazing.

this is an animation test
it's not intended to be anything like the final product other than in terms of style
but yes it sucks because that's not wolverines style
check out the iron man stuff instead it's better

Wolverine was ruined the second the recent movie got the green light. All this is is a continuing trend of guys who are too tall and skinny meant to be portraying a guy poorly who could rip either of their heads off.

At least I've still got my comic books where I can often still find some Wolverine goodness.

Oh I just remembered what this reminds me of more than Kenshin. Saiyuki.

You are not making a good case for this.

Maybe it's more like that <i>other</i> "pretty boys fighting evil while running a flower shop" show, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNfbtiUzp60&fmt=18">Weiss Kreuz</a>. That one even had a guy with claws!

You know, <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_ej7ZlS2oQ&fmt=18">it really is</a>.

I never saw Weiss Kreuz, but maybe I should! xD I liked Saiyuki. They were very pretty and gay, indeed.

The Wolverine shown must not be Logan. Because you can't even stretch the truth enough to have that still be canon.

Rather than look at it as ruined, look at it as an alternate take on a franchise you enjoy. :)

Like most appearances of Wolverine.

Since when are animated series ever cannon?

I like the way the animation looks, but not the way Wolverine looks. He looks entirely too effeminate. Way to go Japan.

Yeah he looks too... non-gruff and manly. Basically, the opposite of the fundamental personality of Wolverine.

Ouch!

I just don't understand how the Iron Man one can look so freaking awesome but they can manage to butcher Wolverine so absolutely and thoroughly.

Meh, I think it'll be interesting to see, while it is quite different, it's Madhouse so I have faith.

Though I did I cried aloud with mirth and merriment at the mullet.

And for those who havent seen it, here's the Iron Man one.

>>> Atleast it has the wolverine claws. :D
Well im not surprised about the extreme change, Japanese artists seems to do that all the time (Just look what they did to the PPG).
