Best educational show on Discovery Channel, or best educational show ever?

Yes! I've been watching it almost all day. They're running a marathon. They told me not to, but I wanna make a paper Crossbow.

This pepper test they're doing rocks!

Speaking of peppers I always have used Hot Chocolate for my cure. Works quite well(maybe because I put milk in it?).

"No fish have nor will be harmed in filming, they are mainly blown to pieces"
Or something like that... Why does that not reassure me :D?

As for mythbusters... they are one of the few things on TV that I watch. However, a number of things have bugged me in the past. But nothing is perfect.

It was better when Adam and Jamie were doing everything. I don't like Grant or Tori. Kari is tolerable only because she's kind of attractive.

Kari is so hot.

It's because Adam and Jamie are busy horrifying people with that rule 34 image on the internet. :(

Kari is so hot.I'd hit it. :jokey:

It's one of the few shows on Discovery I can watch without being bored to tears.

I've seen every episode of Mythbusters at least twice. I would take a Physics class just to get taught by Adam.

Lol, could you imagine a high school science class experiment where Adam/Jamie were guest speakers/aids. Sadly they probably wouldn't get to blow anything up. Last I checked high schools were kinda cautious about the use of explosives :/

I have faith in Adam and Jamie! Next myth: can Adam and Jamie convince a local high school to conduct explosive tests in a classroom?

Educational? Meh, kinda. Their experiments are rarely actually scientific, as their sampling methods are way too simple. It's still a great show though.

Lately I prefer Good Eats.

It's not really an educational show as Shlup pointed out. It's more like an experimental show on busting myths. Besides, it's one of the many shows I enjoy watching on the Discovery Channel. Another show I love watching is Cash Cab, but that's for another thread.

I like mythbusters, and I would say that it is actually pretty educational for what they're supposed to educate people about, which is if something is actually possible or not. Their testing methods aren't always very accurate, but if they manage to actually do a "myth", they do prove that something is definitely possible. If they don't, it usually shows to the world that a myth is unlikely to be real, but who knows?!

I might be captain obvious here, but I guess it's to seamlessly replace the old guys when they eventually retire.

I cried aloud with mirth and merriment, could you imagine a high school science class experiment where Adam/Jamie were guest speakers/aids. Sadly they probably wouldn't get to blow anything up. Last I checked high schools were kinda cautious about the use of explosives :/

In my year 10 phys-chem class we did an entire semester studying fireworks. At the end of the term we had a prac where we needed to devise an experiment to measure the force of an explosive. It was fairly cool watching the things we had set up explode.
Oddly enough our teacher did remind me of Adam.

I've watched the odd episode of Mythbusters and really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I don't have Sky at home and so haven't really had a chance to watch much more of it, but I'd probably do so if I had the opportunity to. In respect of whether their methods are that scientific or not, I hadn't really paid much attention to that really, but I suppose it's a valid point. I agree with Mirage though, in that regardless it does show whether something is possible or not, regardless of how realistic it is.

I've only seen it a couple of times, and I thought it was okay.

It's a great show, based right here in the Bay Area!

I think the hosts are great and I love their job. The two teams work well together. Some of the things they test are really interesting and the results sometimes surprising. My favorite was when the elephants were actually afraid of mice. That blew my mind that it was actually true.

Like Shlup said, it's not exactly scientific and they do have simple sampling, but they are testing some silly things here and it doesn't take a lot of science to realize a bullet that goes through a guy's nuts and into a woman's stomach isn't going to get her pregnant.

Yeah, you shouldn't take much of what they do too seriously, but it's still entertaining.
