View Full Version : Interesting sampling
Most interesting use of sampling you've heard, go!
YouTube - Jason Derulo - Whatcha Say (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQa60u1zPdE&feature=related)
Imogen Heap = Really catchy hip-hop song? Never would have seen it, but I love this.
That song has only led to great things. Besides Hide & Seek being a genuine good song, and this sampling, the SNL skit destroyed me.

I posted this before in the lounge, but it is by far the most interesting use of sampling I can think of: Kutiman (http://forums.eyesonff.com/lounge/123535-kutiman-vs-youtube.html) :shobon:

Posting from my phone so I'm not sure that link will work. If it doesn't just Youtube Toxic rhythm and it should be the first result.

Whoa, I love it.
It's not the most innovative one, but the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6oUz1v17Uo">Picard Song</a> is rad.
Also my favourite is <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uE-1RPDqJAY">they're taking the hobbits to Isengard!</a>
Also <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8BWBn26bX0">Frontier Psychiatrist, by The Avalanches</a>.
Also <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BrXZPLSWfMw">Machismo, by Gomez</a>.

Don't know if it's the most interesting I've ever heard, or even if it's a sample per se. But here goes. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iG4b9GKX9Q)
By the way, it's "Where is my mind" by The Pixies that's being incorporated here.

The Kutiman set is pretty friggin' amazing.
Amon Tobin is the master of piecing samples together in beautiful, wonderful ways. Example. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlYBPuHeZxw) Though I think he's moved away from sampling other musical pieces to composing or doing foley studio work for his tracks.
mc chris has had a lot of his tracks remixed by snobots, which purely sample other songs, and for the most part they're awesome as crap. Fett's Vette (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6JQbUjYh4o) is pretty good - I wouldn't have thought of Duel of the Fates working as well as it did, though my absolute favorite snobots mix is OMC, Back to the Future style. It's a pretty groundbreaking album, so that doesn't surprise me.
