Few can doubt the genius of the game in question. Sure, it had it's flaws - like the uncomfortable battle system or the rushed second disc - but there is no such thing as a flawless game. This thread, however, was created in order for us to discuss the game's soundtrack which I personally have mixed feelings for. On one hand we have ingenious, atmospheric tracks, such as Omen (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LPaR9xd_WO0), that plays during the exploration of Merkava and a remixed version plays during the opening (you can even hear its elements in the Xenosaga opening), or The Beginning and the End (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyjgouJLxDk&feature=related), whose Bulgarian lyrics make a perfect atmosphere for the divine ending. However, there are tracks like Singing of the Gentle Wind (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7n3irT3Okpo) or The Sky, the Clouds and You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRf3fG18lYM) that literally make my ears bleed, although the latter less so. Nisan's theme is just so mind-numbingly PRIMITIVE, it sounds like a demo piece on an ancient electronic keyboard.

Phew. :greenie: Now that I've done ranting, feel free to share your opinions on this soundtrack.

Honestly, I love the soundtrack and I feel its quite underrated. I pretty much love every track and Singing of the Gentle Wind happens to be one of my favorite tracks. :p

I pretty much bought the soundtrack for Faraway Promise, and ended up enjoying every piece. Its so experimental and complex with its arrangements and yet Mitsuda still puts in quite a few comical tacks to lighten the mood. I still lol whenever I hear Solaris' theme as this civilization is painted as being this vile aristocracy that feels it has the right to play with human lives. Only to have this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Od9QZcJA94) be playing when you finally get there... Showing how the citizens themselves are just as much sheep as the "Lambs" are.

The game has too many beautiful pieces and all of them are intertwined with the events of the game. Its a soundtrack that I listen to and can instantly remember where the tracks are played. The soundtrack compliments the scenes and the scenes compliment the music. Its just so excellently crafted. Truly my favorite Mitsuda OST.

Great OST, one of my faves. The compositions are mostly above-average, but I also like that there's an in-game jukebox to listen to select songs with. Was always partial to "Bond of Sea and Fire" and "June Mermaid," and maybe a little "Shevat, the Wind is Calling." As said, there's just so many great tracks it's hard to pick a handful.

I prefered Mitsuda's work on the first Xenosaga OST. Pretty good though.
