View Full Version : When you eat

When you eat, do you find that the words you think have to match the rhythym of your chewing? For instance if I think the word "Superlative", it gets broken down to "Su-per-la-tiv" and each syllable corresponds with a chew. If I try and think faster my chewing just speeds up.

I... what. xD

I dunno, because if I chew consciously, I apparently eat too LOUDLY for some people. :colbert:

I think that's happened a few times to me. I'm always doing things like that though. For instance, I can't leave the volume on the TV at an odd number, or can't walk on the lines on the street. :freak:

Thats... thats odd... but I am most likely guilty of it. I also have a habit of chewing ice, and whenever I do it in a loud room it always gets quiet as soon as I start to do it... :shifty: bastards

Hux, whatever you do, take comfort in that you'll never be as weird as a person who tattoos the Mario Bros. on the soles of their feet.

Yeah, I find that to be pretty gross.

However, people have noticed that I sometimes wrinkle my nose when I eat. I don't notice it myself, though.

When music is playing in my head and I'm walking at the same time, the beat has to match with my footfall

That's incredibly weird, but it wouldn't surprise me if I do that subconsciously.

This sounds like the kind of thing that make OCD people go crazy, like the fact that you should chew your food 32 times when eating. :D

But no, I don't do that particular thing. Though can I ask why you were chewing to the beat of "superlative"?

Just thinking about which words are most appropriately applied to me I needed a slightly longer word than usual to test out exactly what happened when I tried to break the cycle.

I've never heard of anyone doing this before, however
