Okay, I keep seeing these booths in the mall advertising them. They are the douchiest things since the Ed Hardy clothing line was created. What ARE they? What IS an e-cigarette?

What is the lamest new creation you've encountered lately? :greenie:

They're not bad and have a lot of benefits. They're little vaporizers with flavor cartridges that you attach, so when you inhale you get a vaporized flavor with or without nicotine. The upside of it all is that you get the look and feel (though not exactly flavor) of a cigarette, with full nicotine delivery, but with a lot less risk than actually filling your lungs with most of the crap that comes out of regular cigs. I kinda liked it when I tried my friend's set out.

Wait, so is it like hookah, except not hookah tobacco and in the shape of a cigarette? What?

wait you can get cigs without the balls taste but all the nicotine you body cant live without? where can this be found only in new york cause indiana is bumpkin....dammit i knew it

It was in Rhode Island too, and Rhode Island is pretty much a tiny dead end little bumpkin state. Keep looking, I guess? They look pretty dumb though! If you need nicotine, get the patch, dude! If you don't, when you get older you're be all wrinkly and cough up all of the time like my parents!

I just saw this at the mall today too! The guy running the stand was just standing there with one of them in his mouth and I must admit, he did look quite douchey.
I dunno, I mean what's the point of smoking really if it looks like you're playing with candy cigarettes?

Rye
08-24-2009, 04:06 AM
That's what I think. It's like... you smoke because you enjoy SMOKING, or you smoke because you're addicted. In that case, if you just want the nicotine without the unhealthy tar and tobacco, just suck on a lemon drop and get the patch! It makes no sense! But then again, it makes no sense to me why people wear Ed Hardy! Paradox~ D:

They're to satisfy the urge to hold a cigarette and also the addiction to nicotine if the user is addicted. It also enables the user to feel as if they're socially part of a smokers' circle.

I think they're a good thing. Smokers are going to put nicotine into their system regardless of how it gets there, so anything that cuts down on the toxins they and others around them receive is good. Seeing a few of my friends who are smokers, I realise that smoking isn't just about getting a fix; it also provides a reason to socialise or a talking point between themselves and other smokers, so by retaining the appearance of a cigarette it's not cutting them out of the social smokers group.

Some have been said before, but I'll go ahead and list off some benefits to theses.

1) It doesn't cause anywhere near as much damage to your health, while still feeding ones addition to Nicotine.

2) In the long run, it actually ends up costing you less the Cigarretes.

3) It creates more completion for the Tabbaco industry, and more competion is good for the economy.

4) I'm surprised no ones mentioned this, because it's probably the biggest reason I like them. They don't have the smell. I wouldn't smoke them myself, but I have a lot of friends that smoke, and overall these can help make them more pleasant to be around. And it kills off the reason I refuse to date a girl who smokes, the smell.

My friends giving up a smoking habit of 20 years. For him it was the social side of smoking that was the difficult part to give up. He swears by these elctronic ciggerettes as he can now be with his friends in a social situation and not feel out of place.

Im a month into giving up smoking, ive been doing it for 8 years myself.
All of my friends are smokers and i feel really out of place when they all go outside for a ciggie. I may get one of these.

I can't fathom this. I've never seen/heard of it but then again I have been on a farm for a month.

Personally I can't imagine it would be the same as a regular cigarette. I'm kind of interested but skeptical.

xXsarahXx
08-24-2009, 09:58 AM
It looks exactly the same as a normal ciggerette, and you inhale smoke (well steam vapour) like a real ciggerette, only difference is it dont contain nicotine.
I think its a comfort to people who are stuck in the habit and to make giving up not so much of a huge life and habit change.

Tbh anything that helps is great, its difficult giving up.

Hers a vid of it in action..

Wow. That's kind of weird.

I guess it'd be cool to try one. Are they expensive?

xXsarahXx
08-24-2009, 10:09 AM
I just found the kit in the UK with 10 refil cartriges (aprox 200 cigs worth) for £20 + £3 postage so no thats actually really cheap if you compare it to how much a smoker spends.

1 pack of 20 cigs = £5-6 ish.

I haven't seen these, but then again I live in the middle of nowhere in Tennessee. I quit smoking a while back, mostly because I wanted to and partly because Nikki would have kicked my ass If I hadn't quit. I still get a craving every once in a while, especially driving past the tobacco barns that are currently smoking their crops.

We could just shoot every cigarette smoker in the world and solve a lot of problems. Less homeless people, more jobs (particularly in the crematorium business, I'd imagine) made available, less pollution, less mouths to feed, less cancer. Solving all the world's problems, me? Well. 8-)

Thats a little narrow minded dont you think?
Your putting smokers on a par with people who really need to be shot, ie rapists and murderers.

Smokers arnt bad people.

Most rapists and murderers smoke. Most car accidents involve young men. If that kind of link justifies forcing me to pay ridiculously high insurance costs, then it totally justifies mass....smokericide.

Loony BoB
08-24-2009, 02:01 PM
There is the downside that I'd probably lose two pretty close friends. But I figure if they start shooting other smokers then they'd probably quit pretty quick. Well, one might not, but she's just angry and believes in freedom, which we all know is a silly thing to believe in.

Quindiana Jones

An angry smoker is even more likely to be a murderer, so we should definitely shoot her.

Because it contains the chemical you crave but not the nasty rat poison.

Oh a one hitter? Yeah those come in handy. I had one that looked like a pen. But who smokes a pen? I mean besides people who hollow out the metal ones and turn them into crackpipes...not that I ever did that or anything.

Don't shoot me, Daniel. :(

One of my friends at work got one of these. They work out so much cheaper than real cigarettes, and you get the nicotine and the social side of things. I think they're a good thing, but I haven't thought about buying one myself.

A lot of people buy alcoholic beer, especially if they are limited on what they can drink because of health issues. Not really a great analogy.

Well from what ive been told non alcoholic beer has all the bad parts like bad taste but none of the good parts like getting drunk these e-cigs seem to be the reverse of that in that you get the good, nico, but not the bad stuff so i can see why theyd be good

You think beer tastes bad? What have you been drinking? I mean beer is a waste of money if you're just looking to get drunk, there's liquor for that, but imo most beers taste pretty good.

My friend has one. A couple near where we live imports them from the USA and sells them.

You're talking about 'happy vapper' (sic) right? A battery operated hookah cigarette? They are pretty neat.

It's not too silly because it can help with quitting smoking, which while I argue to be a harmless activity should not really be something encouraged ;D

However I don't think I would ever get one because I would be even more pretentious than I am.

Well I certainly won't argue with the second part, and yes some beers do definitely taste like ass but with so many different varieties it's hard to find at least one you wouldn't like.

Personally, I'd recommend Guinness, warmed up with some black coffee and a hint of Wild Irish Rose or brandy. That'll wake ya up in the morning.

Seriously though that combo I mentioned tastes surprisingly good, and I wasn't a huge Guinness fan or coffee fan for that matter either. Guinness is meant to be drank warm or even hot imo, as are most dark ales.

My buddy's brother told me that he tried the e-cigarettes, and that he'll never do it again.

Maybe he'd been doing it wrong or something, but he said that if you don't hold it vertically all the time, the nicotine eats away at the battery, but if you do, you basically suck on liquid nicotine.
