Favorite Version of classic summon

Really any of them from IX, but only because I like the graphical upgrades from the snes titles, and I wasn't really fond of most off FF VII's graphics. Though Bahamut was pretty rad in VII, so I'll give that one to him. :p

As far as non classic, Alexander has, and always will, kick royal ass.

And one time goes to FF VII's Bahamut Zero. Gigantatic intersteller sivler dragon? Yes please.

And I refuse to answer all of yoru questions, just to spite you. :p

It's gotta be Bahamut and Odin for me, Leviathan gets a notable mention because he's always usually the "underdog" of the summons, he's good but he's just not quite "there" yet.

Yay, summons and the pretties they bring!

My favorite Chocobo is the choco/mog from VII. It was just so cute.
VI's Ramuh, less for his use in battle and more for the character... I love his sprite, sitting there with that most excellent beard.
Shiva from X, because of that amazing character design. The hair! The pretty blue-ness! And especially the animation of her dropping her shawl.
Ifrit from V, I love the attack he dishes out. Hot stuff.
IV's Leviathan, for his position in the world of summons. That is one of my favorite battles, timing the wave is fun.
VII's Odin. "I dont wanna fight this random battle." *summon Odin* Yay!
IV's Bahamut, cause he just kicked so much ass. I loved the flare, and fighting him was a pain in the arse, especially if you dont go the reflect route.

Slyph (IV)! Mostly useless, but pretty!

Imp (IV), because again it was useless, but finding it for the first time was amazing. I was still young and this was a while before faqs.

Magus Sisters (X), because of the IV reference. No really, that's the only reason.

I really liked X's version because of the control aspect and the Aeon staying for more than one turn. I really don't use summons much, save to see their animations. I'm impatient.

Odin, although he wasn't in the first two games, I guess that's of no consequences since only Bahamut appeared in FFI and Leviathan in FFII. But yeah, he was always my favorite to find, from getting him at the Shinra mansion, the King in FFIV, the crazy ass underground passage of Galuf's castle in FFV, the weird ass temple in FFVIII.

I loved being able to control the Aeons in FFX. Plus they were so pretty. FFXII, too. The only problem was FFX's summons were overpowered, and FFXII's were useless (though I hear that's not the case with Revenant Wings).

Ragnarok. To this day it amuses me that I thought it was useless as a kid because it didn't really do any damage and I didn't realize it could convert enemies into items. Also it was a pretty cool looking sword and I'm not sure why an Esper would even take the form of a sword. :confused:

Crusader as a joke since damaging myself and enemies is just stupid. Why would I want to ever use it, especially when I can just Ultima things to death? (I realize if memory serves that I could absorb his attack and heal, but I'll still take Ultima and Curaga over it). As a more serious answer, I liked being able to use the Magus Sisters in FFX.

FFIV or V actually. I think they were at their most useful without being broken in those games (I'm looking at you FFVIII).

On a side note as far as the question of why would we want a summons help when we just mopped the floor with them? I was playing through Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 and after you beat Deadpool and he offers to join you you can ask why you would want his help when you just beat the crap out of him. I thought it was a bit of a nice touch to recognize the age old question.
