I honestly thought it was some unknown Kate Bush track when I first heard that song. I liked it. Not something I'd buy, but I downloaded it on my phone. :)

The reason I discovered her was because I was reading Kate Bush's wikipedia page (because I'm so cool) and it had a little thing about Bat for Lashes citing Kate Bush as an influence. She really reminds me of Kate Bush, lyrically moreso than musically (although her second album is very Kate Bush-esque). She also looks exactly like Lily Allen imho.

I love bat for lashes. Fur and Gold is the only album I've heard, but off it, Tahiti, Trophy, Prescilla, Sarah, and Horse and I are my favorite tracks.

I've heard that Daniel song on youtube and they've come up on my Pandora every once in a while.
She does look awfully like Lily Allen, I'll have to agree.
Not a bad thing imho :]

Natasha Khan is tha shizzz!
No seriously, I've been a fan of Bat For Lashes ever since her first album, "Fur and Gold", came out a couple of years ago. The Donnie Darko-esque music video of "What's A Girl To Do?" is wonderful.
"Two Suns" is currently one of my favourite albums, and Bat For Lashes is undoubtedly one of my favourite artists. And yes, she does sound like Kate Bush's little sister or something.

Yes, I've been a fan for a year or so. I haven't listened to her latest album a lot though.

Yeah, apparently he was her first crush or something.

I fucking love Trophy and Horse and I. The piano (?) in Horse and I is just brilliant, and the lyrics for Trophy make me
and @Breine, I was wondering what that video reminded me of, and it's definitely Donnie Darko.
Does anyone know how involved Natasha Kahn is with the actual music? I mean, is she the lyricist and musician, or just the lyricist, or maybe even just the singer? Because I hear people refer to Bat for Lashes as a "band" in the traditional sense, a lot, and then some people talk like it's just Kahn who does all the work like a solo artist or something.

She writes and composes all the songs I believe. She's one of those solo artists who operates under a different name so people wonder if it's a band or not (see also: The Streets, Bon Iver). But I imagine she does have certain musicians she uses more often than not for her songs.

Basically what charliepanayi said. She is a one-woman band, but has a live band line-up, and like any other solo artists out there she hires musicians to play on her records (or she probably just uses her live band members when recording).
According to wikipedia (yey!) she plays the piano, guitar, harpsichord and the autoharp herself.

At the same time???
Everything Moon Rabbits said is what I thought when I first heard and saw her. She's the spitting image of Lily Allen, and sounds very much like Kate Bush. Both good things, IMHO.
