Amazon.com: Used and New: Satoshi Kon's Paranoia Agent: Complete Collection (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0009RQS7I/sr=8-1/qid=1252815235/ref=olp_tab_new?ie=UTF8&coliid=&me=&qid=1252815235&sr=8-1&seller=&colid=&condition=new)

...This is easily one of the biggest damned rip-offs I have ever seen, yet somehow, the world of Anime can get away with this crap. :(

And you know what pisses me off the most? I'm still probably going to buy it. Not this paycheck, but in another paycheck or two. :(

THis is easily one of my favorite anime, and due to past events, I know longer have this series, and need to replace it. I shan't let an anime like this slip out of my collection dag nabbit!

I think the last one I payed for that was pretty damned bad was Ouran High School Host club, marked for 40 dollars per season, at 2 seasons, 12 episodes each.

I payed 80$ for 24 episodes.

Discuss outrageous prices on anime, import gaming and other forms of media.

This is why nobody should feel bad for pirating anime. It's a rip-off and everyone should just watch it illegally.

Also, Xenogears. (http://www.amazon.com/Xenogears-Playstation/dp/B000038IFX/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1252817783&sr=8-1)

No one should feel bad for pirating ridiculously priced anime at least. When you can grab the whole of say, Black Blood Brothers for about 20-25, thats not really to bad. :p

It seems to be rather select titles that really get ridiculous.

Though that game easily outclasses Paranoia in terms of cost. :p

public service announcement

do not buy anime dvd sets from kuala lumpur

Reminds me of the Hong Kong DVDs for Yu-Gi-Oh, where basically some chinese dudes used a machine translator and made crappy English subs and sold the DVDs really cheaply. Here's a sample:
YouTube - Yu-Gi-Oh GX Episode 17 subbed (3/3) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QWl-WXa8YE)

it's a city in Malaysia

anyway now im looking at their website and they now sell dubs
which is tempting
its like 13 bucks for an entire series, without shipping

and yeah the subs are exactly like the ones above, gyrus

i have no idea how these guys stay in business. copyright laws in Malaysia must be very different. they already have a copy of ponyo for sale.

What's unfair, now? (http://www.amazon.com/Cardcaptor-Sakura-Megaset-Collection-Vol/dp/B000MHXCVU/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1252852672&sr=1-5) :colbert:

Yeah, I'm either going to wait for a possible rerelease, or I'm going to buy the DVDs one by one for around $20 a piece.

One of these days. -_-

That Paranoia Agent isn't as bad as back in the day when they had FLCL at $30 for 2 episodes. That's $90 for all six episodes. Although Momiji wins this round.

Don't forget he's our resident import gamer, (At least I think he's one of them, I forget) so he has it rougher than I all around. :p

Nah, I only have 5 or 6 imported games. I'm sure there's some people here with many more than that. :p

You can still get it used in decent condition for $50 or so. Yeah, expensive, but no Suikoden I-II. Or Valkyrie Profile (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00004WMQB/ref=sr_1_olp_5?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1252877817&sr=1-5), for that matter.

Featherman and Explosive Lady? Wow!

I'm not sure if there's a Hasting's where you live but I got Noein and Escaflowne for $30 each from them. They might have Paranoia Agent, I'll have to check next time I'm there.

I've noticed Amazon isn't the best place to look for good prices. Have you tried anywhere else?

Nothing from hastings, and most other places online are so damned cheap I can't help but think they are just Ripped DVDs, and not official releases, meaning I'd rather Pirate them.

One site was seling it for like, 18, but the picture used for the 'Complete Box Set' is just an image of The first DVD's cover art.

Not even Ebay seems to have the official US release of the Box set. :(

It does however have the limited edition volume 1 for 200...

Paranoia Agent - Vol. 1: Enter Lil' Slugger Limited DVD - eBay (item 280384091678 end time Oct-10-09 09:28:34 PDT) (http://cgi.ebay.com/Paranoia-Agent-Vol-1-Enter-Lil-Slugger-Limited-DVD_W0QQitemZ280384091678QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUS_DVD_HD_DVD_Blu_ray?hash=item414831b61e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)

I think how unaccessible it is is what's really keeping me from watching Paranoia Agent. I mean, if I like something, I'm going to buy it, one way or another. Such is the situation for Cardcaptor Sakura.

I did notice that on Amazon most of the individual DVDs can be found used for around $10-15, which I'm fine with as long as they're in good condition. Now if only I had an income...

Anyone wanna buy a GameCube? :P

VexNet

dude.. do NOT buy that.. they sell that complete collection in my local store for only £20.

Keep searching and you will find.
I looked for Shenmue II for years and I could only find online sales for £100+ but then I found it in a game store in my local town for only £12. Never stop looking for a deal!

You WILL be rewarded.

THe problem with local stores, especially around here, is anime is not that big, so to find an older series, even just Paranoia, is difficult, unless of course it's mainstream.

And teh few major fans here never sell off their stuff.

I'm in a horrible area to rely on local stores.

Momiji

Likewise. All of the stores that have anime around here are way freaking overpriced, so I tend to do all of my shopping online.
