Anways, we finally have some scans of DQVI for the DS.

http://www.woodus.com/den/gallery/graphics/dq6ds/scan/dq6ds_scan_002.jpg

So to those of you that have played Dragon Quest VI, what did you think of it? Did you have any particularly memorable moments with that game?

I personally liked the characters better than the ones in DQV (too much white outfits), especially since they’re from all walks of life, kind of like DQIV (yeah, I know that three of them are magic majors, but the other three are quite diverse). As for the class system, I liked it quite a lot more than DQIII’s. It took a lot longer to get skills and spells for classes, but you didn’t have to worry about getting reset to level 1. I kind of miss that a little though, since having magic casting warriors and fighters in DQIII felt so much more special, seeing how not many people have the patience to take advantage of the class system. The monster recruiting system was worsened in some ways (like monsters only being recruitable when you have a beastmaster on your team), but better in others (like having most monster levels capping at 99 and being able to change their classes and give them more skills than they’ll naturally learn).

I remember my paladin Metal Babble that I used (it had 17 HP from life nuts I saved for it) for the slime arena. It took quite a few tries to win the final class and get Rookie. I also managed to get Rookie the Crystal breath attack by levelling him up enough and showing him to his former owner (I think I might be the only one who knows about teaching Rookie Crystal Breath).

Also, besides a new playable character being introduced (since there was one each in DQIV and DQV), someone on GameFAQs came up with this interesting theory:

DQIV: Chapters of the Chosen (Chapter 6 was introduced)
DQV: Hands of the Heavenly Bride (Deborah, a new wife was introduced)
DQVI: Realms of Reverie (new realm/world besides the real and dream world?!)

Forget this, I want FFV DS screen shots. :(

But I shall get this one as well, I haven't played VI yet though, but V DS kicked ass, Deborah was the only bride that I even thought was interesting. :p

I've been so out of the loop on these remakes, I was surprised to see the other day that VI wasn't even out in Japan.

Is this using the same art style as the other DS remakes? Not bad if it does, I think they really found something that works for the games.

I actually just beat IV after owning it since it came out, need to get V soon.

DQ IV-VI are the only reason I'm considering a DS right now.

Well I've got to get this game since it has Melchior, Vegeta, Trunks, and Jessica in it!

Forget scans; there's a whole Gpara article (http://www.gpara.com/comingsoon/dq6/090924/).

I haven't even finished DQV, but I'm pretty excited for this; even more than the rest of the series, DQVI has remained an enigma to me over the years. I've heard the supporting cast is kind of blank, but I'm looking forward to seeing how they'll be fleshed out by the party talk feature (which is amazingly effective in DQV).

Knowing that this is the first remake of the game (as opposed to the DS versions of DQIV and DQV, which were based on their PS and PS2 remakes, respectively), I'm also curious as to what extra content they'll devise.

Nice. It's even got more screenshots. :D

But, uh, can anyone translate all of that? :/

I guess the characters aren't very fleshed out. They mostly just talk before they join your team and don't say much after that except for a select few parts. The personalities of the characters in DQVI are much more distinct than the ones in DQV (where everyone was basically perfectly nice, except for Deborah). As for comparing it to DQIV, I'd say DQVI's cast has slightly more personality.

I guess if you want me to I could tell you about each of the playable (non-monster) characters, though some of you might not want the story spoiled.

I really need to finally pick up DQIV and V... Especially now that VI has been announced. I'm so far behind. :(

^ IV is great and the added content is interesting, although I probably won't ever use it.

Although this was a while ago, here's a link (http://www.rpgamer.com/games/dq/dq6ds/screens/dq6dsss101609-1.html) to some DQVI screenshots.

>>> No doubt about it, DQ are quality games (filled with nostalgia an stuff).. I just dont want to become a fanboy because that would mean me wasting more money..

Dragon Quest VI for the DS in now out in Japan.

What sucks is that they've gotten rid of monster recruiting. Instead, you get slimes at different parts in the game in towns and dungeons and the like. They've also kept Drago.

So now you're only limited to 16 characters in the DS Version of DQVI:

1. Hero
2. Hassan
3. Muriel
4. Barbara
5. Chamaro
6. Amos
7. Terry
8. Drago
9. Slime Knight
10. Heal Slime (it's kind of funny since he joins you only because he wants to ride on your flying bed, from what I've heard anyways)
11. King Slime
12. Spotted Slime
13. Cure Slime
14. Marine Slime
15. Liquid Metal Slime
16. Regular Slime (Rookie from the slime arena)

I'm glad they didn't completely get rid of monsters. Though I'll really miss being able to have certain enemies join my team (like Wind Mages, Wyverns, and especially Lamp Demons).

I'm just now starting DQ IV on the DS. I played a bit of DQ VII, but stopped playing for some reason. I'll finish it. But I think I need to play DQ IV-VI first.

I completed DQ IV and loved every minute of it. I'm playing DQ V right now and I can't wait for DQ VI to come out.
