So who has checked it out and what are your early impressions?

I really love the use of traditional MGS cutscenes combined with the Portable Ops/ Graphic Novel art work for the dialogue and scenes. Gives it this really cool psychedelic feel.

The controls are a little weird (buttons to work the camera? D-Pad for inventory and crouching movement?) but I was surprised to see how quickly I adapted to them. I wish I could understand the Japanese dialogue better, if not to understand the plot more but to at least get more out of the nifty (if long winded) tutorial mode. I feel like I'm missing out on the CQC.

The levels are short but pretty fun and the controls feel pretty smooth once you get used to them even if the game sometimes feels like MGS4 and makes "running and gunning" through levels the acceptable way out.

It inspired me to order Portable Ops online (game is damn near impossible to find out here for some reason.) and I'm definetly looking forward to the honorary Metal Gear Solid 5 :D

Alright, the first boss battle in the demo is starting to piss me off. Its a tank battle with an armed escort of guards. These guards are in heavy armor and can withstand a direct hit from grenades and the tanks own shells. That or they respawn like the stupid Crying Wolf mission. :roll2

I was only able to once damage the tank to the point where the commander comes out but finally ran out of rations to keep me alive. The tank takes a crap load of damage and though I went with the version of Big Boss that offered the grenades and RPG-7, I can't seem to do enough damage to take this sob down before his escort cuts me down or I get ran over...

Also, the grenade trick from MGS1 may not work as the commander only reveals himself after you do enough damage to certain parts of the tank. By that time, I was out of grenades. :(

Its still been a pretty fun game though this boss battle finally showed some issues with the funky camera and the reworked CQC...
