How many have you seen from this (http://www.listology.com/flogged/list/1001-movies-you-must-see-you-die) list? What would you say is your favorite film in list and why? It's okay if you haven't seen all of those films, you can still have a fav.
I haven't counted, but I figure by the end of this year I'll be around the 400s.
EDIT: The link I gave above cuts the list a bit short.

Some very interesting choices, especially with the contemporary films. If I had to guess, I'd say I've seen around one hundred of those, largely from the '80s onward.

Wow I actually counted and I barely got 100,lol.
I had recognized alot of them, but I've never had the chance to see them.
As for my favorite movie on the list, that's really hard, they are all so good!
Alot of my favorite movies of all time are on this list, lol.
But I'll have to go with Kill Bill just because on this one.

Why <i>must</i> I see them? What will happen if I don’t?
Interesting, I've also seen the list of "1001 Albums You Must Listen to Before You Die"
btw, in case you didn't notice, the list is in chronological order, rather than "quality" order.

Ok, I have seen more than I expected to have seen from that list. Of the ones I have seen my favorite may be, Casablanca, The Godfather, or maybe The Shawshank Redemption.

I've seen about 75 of them all the way through. Probably another dozen or two that I've seen part of the way through. I've never liked old movies very much.

Try a lifetime worth. You've should have started when you four, girly.

Apocalypse. And a huge black bear will come out of no where and maul you to death.
I've never liked old movies very much.
I used to be like that. I refused to watch anything that wasn't in color and/or not a talkie. But after watching many of the silent films on this list (which by the way I had no idea they were on there till now) I decided to give them more of a chance. Lucky number 7, Broken Blossoms is pretty good, but I have to warn people that it has a white man playing an Asian man. He has tape on his eyelids...

I counted roughly a 121 on the list I've watched all the way through. Saw a couple I've been meaning to watch as well like the original silent film Metropolis. Course my favorite on the list is my all time favorite film of Mononoke Hime.

I actually have the book :p My mom gave it to me as a present for my birthday since I love movies.

This list is totally age-biased. all the top films are reallllly old.
I've seen quite a few of the bottom half of the list.

You will be culturally flabby and socially retarded :colbert:

Pretty much anyone does, most people here will have easily spent that much time watching movies in their life :p

That's because it's chronologically ordered.
Anyway I could go through the list, or I could go and actually watch a movie so :monster:

I'd say I've watched about a hundred & fifty of them. In my eyes, the cream of the crop being 12 Angry Men (57), The Apartment (60), The Shawshank Redemption (94), & City of God (02). Little disapointed not to see Death on the Nile in there, I loved that movie.

Browsing the list without actually counting, I've seen a lot of those. There are also some on the list that I recognize but am not sure if I've seen them or not, probably have though. I've also probably seen a lot more than I'd be able to count simply because I don't know the names of most of the old movies on the list.
Duck Soup being on there makes me very happy though.
I stopped counting at around 260 or so. I'd counted 55 movies. I've probably seen the majority of the more recent listed ones.

Pretty good list. Almost all of my favourites are in there. Surprised to see films like Attack at the Gas Station! in there. You can tell the person who made the list knew something about movies.
Best submissions are Aliens, Dawn of the Dead and The Fly.

disclaimer: Yes, I'm bored.
If I reckon I watch about 75 movies a year (one netflix per week, an extra movie every third week, and maybe one in theaters every four months). We'll say 5 of them are ones I've seen before, so 70 new movies every year.
I've seen 50 tops from that list already,
that's 13 years and six months to watch the rest of the list!
And worse, there have probably been 60 movies made since 2003 that would go on that list, maybe 110 if it fits the pattern of about 150 per decade, but we'll say just 60. In thirteen and a half years, there will be another 200 movies, so 260, which is another three and a half years ;_;
ad infinitum~

Oh, i thought it was arranged in "best to not-best" order.

I've seen 154 of those. There are quite a few good choices but some of the films on that list should be changed to more appropriate ones. Still, that's an okay list. :p
Picking a favourite from that list is quite hard (there are quite a few great movies that I spotted), but I'd most likely choose The Lion King. Everything in that film worked well: the animation, the story, the characters, the music. :)

They need to add modern ones to that list which I guess they're still in the process of completing. Death at a Funeral definitely needs to go on there. And less crap films like She's Gotta Have it. That's one of Spike Lee's worse films imo.
Oh, i thought it was arranged in "best to not-best" order.
It goes by the years. The second one, The Great Train Robbery basically used the first techniques of in camera editing i.e. cutting and fading. It's also one of the first Westerns ever to made. I believe it was shot entirely in New Jersey though it supposedly takes place in the midwest. Actually most films that early took place in New Jersey for some odd reason. It's not really anything amazing compared to other westerns on that list like The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Got down to about 500 or so and stopped as I didn't anticipate finding many others that I'd have watched; I counted 100 or so that I'd seen. A lot of films on that list that should have seen. I think I'll make more use of the university's DVD collection this year!

I couldn't be bothered to count. Skimming through, I'd guess at anywhere between one and two hundred. I did see some films that shouldn't really be on there, in my opinion.

I've seen 110 on the list. Disappointed I didn't see Swiss Family Robinson, or Stalag 17 on there.
Would've counted Metropolis but only saw the Anime remake of that.
Some of my favorites from that list: 12 Angry Men, The Haunting, The Godfather I and II, Shawshank Redemption, Philadelphia, Casino
The list only showed me 241 films, and I've seen two and watched part of <s>one</s> two. That's a bit disappointing, but I've got plenty of time to catch up.
I'm interested to see some of the more modern ones on the list though, I dare say I've watched a few of those. Though I'm not a movie buff by any means.
EDIT: Okay, it showed me all of them, and I've seen about 38 of them, and watched part of 20 of them. Though I only know or recognise roughly 200 of them. So I'm missing out :(
