Who else will be getting this?

Being that what the initial SFIV has given me already (even once I've unlocked all the content) is more than substantial in terms of soul consuming time spent... I'm totally grabbin' this one.

Juri is clearly the most wonderous creation ever~

Juri does look cute, but what in this game is going to convince me to buy it? Are there going to be new stages, new game modes, like maybe finally adding in the car or barrel breaking. Also what about rebalancing because even one of the Japanese guys admitted he made Seth and Sagat too powerful. Sakura also seems a bit lacking in power and Viper's Ultra can easily be counter be hurricane kicks, lariats, and a number of other things. Dhalsim's Ultras also has a weakness to being thrown as well which is pretty bad. Also I think they should have put the character music on all the stages rather than having to play arcade or challenge mode to hear them.

Did Capcom announce when they think they're going to ship this out?

Looks like it's just been recently announced, so there's currently no word about any new stages. However I have learned it will feature eight new fighters to SFIV, and we know three so far. (That being T. Hawk, DeeJay, and Juri.) I also found out it will be released next year during the spring for both PS3 and XBox 360 and it looks like it will be cheaper than SFIV, because it is originally intended to be an update.

Looks pretty good. My only hope is they add new Ultras cause Ryu needs his True Shen Long move back :(

I heard everyone will get 2 Ultras in this game. There will be new stages, music, bonus stages (that Ono was not able to add in before), and other perks. I think Ryu and Ken are redesigned too(Ken looks too comical in SFIV).

I think there will be releases of new characters and tibets in their blogs every week being released. Rumors is that Guy, Cody, Adon, Ibuki, Dudley, and other characters are being added along with the 3. But only time will tell.

Ono seems very passionate about this game, i hope for the best. Its also slated to not cost as much as a new game would, like it wont be $60.

^ This is in another language, i dont know what it means,if anyone does that would be awesome. The only things i understood was that near the end it sounded like he was going for a revival in the Darkstalkers franchise, along with a push for Capcom vs SNK 3. :D

Ill need to see some more info on SSFIV before I even consider purchising it. A couple added stages as well as Deejay and T-Hawk is a tough sell for me. It really just comes down to content. But I did absolutely love SFIV so Ill be willing to re-buy the game even if the added content is pretty thin.

3S was basically an unknown game until around 2004 when Daigo did that parrying feat. Tiers are also whack. The game is more liked by the hardcore crowd, and i think IV appeals to a more broader spectrum.

I think IV is alright, it has its quirks that makes me think CvS2 is an infinitely better game, but it gets people into the oldschool SF mode and thats tight. Genre has been revived by this game....

The 90s called. They said "DON'T FALL FOR THIS TRICK AGAIN!"

No, really, I might buy it but not until it's price drops. I don't see myself paying full price for it when I already paid full price for SF4. In fact the only thing that will probably make me buy it is if everyone else does and stops playing the original online.

Maybe I'll buy it for 360 since I bought SF4 for PS3. :D

Lionx
01-10-2010, 12:25 AM
Balrog's new costume is pimpin!!

Also alot of the new Ultras are released just search for them on Youtube. Some are pretty good, and some are still being adjusted. Balrog's new one used to be broken s othey are tweaking with it.

Rad Bromance: The game will come out and cost $40 off the bat instead of a full $60. I already dropped the original SFIV pretty much the minute Super was annouced because its just better in every way with every character being fixed (Abel's Change of Direction being unable to be uppercutted on block? Already reason to drop Vanilla SFIV).

I did hear that the 360 version has better online competition though than the other two platforms.

Depression Moon

I don't wanna try and see too many of the new ones because there won't be anything left for me to look for when the game comes out in March???

Cody looks like he will be a fun character to play with. i hope they will fix one thing that irritated me last time and that's the controls. I broke my new PS3 analog stick in three weeks because of this game. It wasn't fun having to jab it back in place or trying to persuade Best Buy to give me another one.

Yep controls need less complication and more friendliness.

Flying Arrow

Should consider getting a joystick Depression Moon...SFIV already has REALLY easy controls compared to all the other SF games that came out(i can prob list a bunch of stuff...). I do know you were using Viper though...so even more reason to get a stick!

And yes it got delayed until early Summer.

Depression Moon
01-11-2010, 10:10 PM
Summer? I guess that's the best. the longer they work on it, hopefully the better the game will be.

I read a while ago that one of the producers left out the part in the car smashing scene where somebody would come and say OMG my car because he didn't want to imp[ly that you did something bad. That sounds stupid to me. Aren't you doing something bad when you're beating up someone to an inch of their life?

I'm not getting the use for Rose or Juri's ultras though.

Lionx
01-11-2010, 10:36 PM
Rose's new Ultra i don't see a point yet...but they are still tweaking so theres hope. Juri's Feng Shui Ultra seems to allow you to do chain combos like Darkstalkers or something so it can see it being pretty damaging especially if they decide to remove damage scaling when you do it. To me it has alot of potential and hopefully not broken like Custom Combos are.

About car smashing...of course its bad!

Actually the release date is supposed to be anywhere from April 6 to the end of May. At least that's how Capcom made it sound. They did make clear that it would be out before summer.

Also note that....well, since Capcom pushed back all their games that weren't already coming out this month or next (due to several huge games coming out), they want to release one big game a season. SSFIV was meant for a spring release, with DR2 and Lost Planet 2 coming much later in the year.

And Depression Moon, the thug coming out and saying "Oh my god!" was actually only in the arcade game Final Fight, which was also released by Capcom. (hell SF2 never even had anybody coming out after the car was beaten up) The utterance was left in all arcade versions, however when ported to Nintendo systems, Capcom had to change it to "oh my car!" because they feared mentioning God would make some families mad. Same reasoning for the name changes from Damnd> Thrasher and Sodom> Katana.

As for SSFIV itself, it's looking really good. The only bad part is people complaining incessantly about a lot of the new Ultras involving some form of spin.

There's already some meaningful tweaks in the game such as Sagat's combo damage being nerfed, and his Tiger Uppercut damage being nerfed. However they added the super taunt Sagat had in A3 to his arsenal (the one that raises power on the next Tiger Uppercut slightly).

Cody, one of the new people in the game, got a couple changes from his appearance in Alpha 3. Most notably his V-ism dodge is gone and replaced by a move called the Zonk Knuckle (which is a punch that's kinda like Balrog's turn punch, where you hold the punch buttons). I think Lionx may know this but the reason they took the dodge out was because they found it to be too powerful, which is almost the same fate it befell in Alpha 3 during beta testing (his dodge in the beta A3 was a little too good. Capcom tweaked it down to the form it is now).

Dee Jay seems beastly so far. EX Sobat causes Focus crumple? Damn.

More thoughts later.

Bad? But isn't it fun complaining about Ultras?

Juri and Cody look to be the craziest ones in. There's still four more new characters to go. I can't imagine what they are I haven't played SF since the first Alpha and that was just a one week rental.

Lionx
01-14-2010, 09:48 PM
I thought the most complaining thing people did was say the new Counter Ultras for Fei Long(which already had a bad first Ultra) and Cammy and how much they suck. I agree with them though, they are completely useless as they are now.

But yes its true, they took out Cody's V-ism dodge because SFIV has a much more simpler design in engine than SFA3 which you have to admit, was pretty out there as far as SF games go xD. If they allowed him to keep his dodge in the form it was in A3, then he would easily get free throws, and workarounds to zoning characters in the SFIV engine.

So then the Zonk Kunckle was introduced...but i really don't know how this will work out in the final build so i won't say too much about it.

Dee Jay's EX Sobat does not crumple in the current build @_@ So...yeah sorry...

The rumored characters for Street Fighter IV are Dudley, Makoto, Ibuki, and a new character named Hakan. This rumor was leaked shortly after the announcement of Street Fighter IV and nearly everything on the rumor list has come true. Ibuki, from Street Fighter III: 2nd Impact and Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, is nearly confirmed as there was a screenshot in a volume of Famitsu that showed Guy using a Focus Attack to block one of her kunais.

The original list of rumors for Super Street Fighter IV (http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2009/sep/24/rumors-more-street-fighter-4-upgrade-notes/) is posted at EventHubs.com. Most of these have been confirmed by Yoshinori Ono, the executive producer of the Street Fighter IV series, or by representatives of Capcom. Keep in mind that Dudley, Makoto, and Ibuki have not been announced officially as of the time of this post.

Rose's new Ultra i don't see a point yet...but they are still tweaking so theres hope.

Yes, the build that was most recently played by North American players was an older build of the game from late 2009. Soul Satellite, Rose's second Ultra, has already had its properties altered slightly, but there are currently no details available.

Makoto's ultra 1 is a little bland. I think it would've been just a bit cooler if they threw in 3 xtra punches before the finale oh and Dudley's VA sucks bad. I would pay for future DLC for an alternate voice over.

Ultra 1 is supposed to only have five hits since, well, it's called Seichusen Godanzuki; it has "five" right in the name ("Go" in that case means five). It also only had five hits in Third Strike as well.

I like Dudley's new voice but it's gonna take some getting used to. Also it'll take some getting used to to hear Dudley with a Japanese voice, something he's never had before (kinda like listening to Alex in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom compared to his SFIII self).

I saw that super in 3S still looks bland over Ultra II.

Dudley's Corkscrew Ultra looks like Looney Tunes, I don't know what's up with Capcom giving people goofy ultras Akumas would've been fine without the stupid spinning legs.

And nope i won't ever get used to Dudley's voice. Would rather get an alternate. It will bother me every time I play.

Dudley's Corkscrew Ultra looks like Looney Tunes, I don't know what's up with Capcom giving people goofy ultras Akumas would've been fine without the stupid spinning legs.

I disagree. Like I've said on other forums, as long as the move itself doesn't look silly it's fair game. And it certainly doesn't. Akuma's is another story. The move itself looks silly therefore it is.

But Dudley does make his opponent look quite silly with the move, spinning them around like a washing machine. Hell that's what Dudley is built around, is subtle humiliation. Countering big attacks like high-priority uppercuts with a simple mach-speed punch, throwing roses to KO opponents, and fighting like a gentleman against most of the other male characters (seriously, being beaten by a gentleman if you're uncouth is the worst thing ever!). I think the Ultra fits.

JKTrix
05-04-2010, 07:44 PM
Stay out of grab range. If you're close, she will grab you because that neck choke thing is one of her best moves. If you're fast you can poke out of it or counter-throw, since the throw itself is slower than a normal throw (when you're counting frames).

You can focus attack absorb the Hayate (dash punch), it is not an armour breaking move. Which sucks, it'd be perfect for that. In any case, just like a bigger grappler like Zangief, you want to keep some distance from her if you can. Otherwise, it's just a match you have to play a few times. Makoto is quite different from most of the cast.

(Mak player)

Lionx
05-05-2010, 06:01 AM
I also play Makoto and i would just say have no fear when playing this matchup, her Karakusa is throwable (even EX). Normal Throws beat Karakusa, so if that person is plainly obvious in doing Karakusa setups like in 3S, just throw the bastard. They have to give you reason to start blocking before they can Karakusa you, otherwise you have no fear.

The only way it could be fearsome is if they Kara-Cancel it but you can probably still toss them. Also learn to block and tech all the throws. Its good to keep a clear mind when fighting Makoto and try to zone her out. She is only good up-close.

Basically, learn to block and throw more often. Treat every Karakusa as a normal throw and 'tech' it. Try conditioning the Makoto instead of letting her condition you into Karakusas. I don't think its that hard a match up for Juri. Mak just doesn't seem as strong as her 3S counterpart and has to be more tricky in this game to get in.

Depression Moon
05-05-2010, 10:02 PM

Lionx

I don't think characters have longer throw ranges than others...at least i don't know as of now. I know that character's hitboxes tend to be bigger (like Juri's since she is able to be infinited by Fei Long). If all else fails just backdash, Karakusa has long recovery frames.

My friend got this game and let me borrow it while he went out of town to mac on some chick. I've been playing it since the weekend. And I'm thoroughly in love with Juri, her playstyle is exactly what I've been looking for. Unfortunately a good portion of her moves have no precedence. And her recovery time is horrible compared to Ryu and Guile who can basically keep from getting punished for blocked moves. I try to punish them and end up getting it myself 'cause their recovery time is almost instant. So far those are the only two I've had the most trouble with. Other than the throwing people, but Zangief has always been cheap in that regard so its not a surprise or anything. Getting grabbed out of a move/combo even after he takes the first hit.... Ridiculous

Either way I definitely love this game. And just like the original IV I'm tempted to finally get a joystick >_>; Expensive bastards

JKTrix

If you like Juri you should probably give the King of Fighters series (before XII) a try (says the man with a KOF avatar). She and Viper seem to be characters designed more like a KOF person.

Command throws do generally have a larger range than normal throws, however Makoto's karakusa is much shorter than Zangief or T-Hawk's special throws. Probably shorter than Honda's too. The HK karakusa does have the longest range of the 4 grabs (the EX Kara is shorter), but the distance gained is mere pixels.

There is a very dangerous carry-over from Street Fighter 3 called Kara-canceling. If you're familiar with the training stage, Makoto's Kara-Karakusa extends the range of that grab by nearly a whole 'square' on the floor. It takes longer to come out because it's basically canceling one move into the grab (and it's also not super easy to do--though I can pull it off 80% of the time), but the range of it will surprise you. She can 'kara' into some of her other specials to extend their range by almost one 'training stage square'--her EX Hayate (dash punch) can basically make it across the entire screen using that glitch.

I haven't played with Juri much so I don't know if she has any good moves to do it with, but Makoto has one that greatly increases the range of many of her moves.

Lionx

Then that means you arent doing combos. You aren't linking them with the right timing and the other guy is mashing 360s. You can easily punish them by jumping instead.

----

I personally found HK Karakusa to grab someone 3/4 of a body away. It just has more startup frames compared to every other version to compensate for it. A good way theoretically to grab someone is to know the frame advantages and disadvantages of certain moves, then compare it to Karakusa's startup frames. You can then try to combo into a Karakusa due to the long startup frames(i think its 7 for a Normal version?). If you can somehow frame trap them to under 3 frames, then you cannot get thrown by them teching.

I think her standing light kick is kara cancelable in this game. Also you can cancel into a fake Hayate during a combo to reduce the frame gaps and allow you to cancel into things never before possible. She is funkeh!

As for Juri's Kara-techniques i would have no clue. I don't know her that well, but a good way to see if she does have one is to first find a move that moves her forward, then see if it is cancelable into other moves without it having to extend all the way (which is the definition of a Kara(empty) Cancel, you cancel from hitting nothing).

Heres an example of Ken's Kara throw:

Ah... yeah. I'm so paranoid about jumping. I usually punish jumpers, rather than be a jumper myself. But I guess you gotta face different enemies different ways. And you're right. I'm still learning combos with her so as far as straight up brawling in their face, I'm extremely vulnerable so I try to avoid it if the other player seems to know how to use their character

As for the KOF suggestion, I've only ever played one. But I can't remember feeling very at home. But I don't think I tried a lot of characters. Kinda like Guilty Gear. Being a huge Street Fighter fan, I should probably love that there are other great 2D fighters out there. And I do love the idea of them. But I found myself struggling hard core. Maybe I need to take a second look and get deeper into the mechanics

On a side note back to my previous post. I have discovered a way that Juri can potentially hardcore punish fireball spammers. So grapplers might be my only problem anymore. I haven't done a lot of practice, but she's got a move that works like a focus attack, except its more of a dodge. It only works on "certain moves". Which appears to include all fireballs. It makes her dip past them either forward, backwards, or up in the air. I didn't realize its potential in the challenge trials. But that mode is horrible about giving you practical information. Once it has you do moves, it really is just more about testing you than teaching you anything. I've tried a few characters, and heard complaints from a few SF vets that agree attempting a lot of the stuff you'd learn in trials will probably get you a foot to the face if you tried it in a match. Aside from the people who have Ultras that make them combo happy

Lionx
05-06-2010, 09:48 PM
Its just very easy to punish someone once you figure out all that they are doing is spamming 360 motions. Just do a string of weak attacks and then hop up and smack them on recovery. If they are any smart they will vary it up...but the fact that they vary it up means that they can't mindlessly spam anymore hoping to get you in those gaps and you can try more gutsy attempts like walk up throw or other punishes.

KoF has a different combo system compared to SF in general. Think of it as a dynamic more offensive based street fighter with lots of subsystems.

Juri IMO already has a good answer to fireball spammers, which is her Dive Kick. If anyone throws them out randomly you can easily divekick them, hopefully EX into Ultra 2. The "Parry" move i found little use offensively during the time i played it. As Makoto i would just stick out another poke and combo Juri upon recovery of the move. I feel its more of a runaway/mixup move more than a fireball workaround.

You would have to be close enough to get hit by the fireball and if you are at that range you could probably just jump over it. The only application offensively i can see is maybe if you can spot a gap in their blockstring that leads into a fireball that you can sneak past them...but spammers i think there are more effective punishes since they are going to do fireballs at unsafe distances.

As for Trials, some are useful actually. But others are garbage. Take it as a way of you being able to figure things out. Like what other combos can i practically use these moves in? What setups can it make or alterations to them can i make if it is blocked? Don't follow them like a book, use them as guidelines and go a little bit deeper into them. Everything else is experience and knowing the opponent.

Vyk
05-06-2010, 11:54 PM
The dive kick used to be my answer for a fireball. And online that's probably what its best for since they're forcing her to jump and she's deadly in the air because of that. But I trained against the computer and Ryu and Guile have instant recovery once their Hadoken/Sonic Boom leaves their hands they're ready to knock me out of my dive attack. Its ridiculous and I don't know if a human is capable of reacting that fast but if they are I needed something else. The dodge forward is quicker, though less reliable. Its a lot less frantic to jump over a fireball. But I see the dodge having potential. Since you have to use a low punch for dipping forward, if you hit it more than once then you're already starting a combo the moment you're in their face. But like I said, I haven't actually tried it out yet. I just needed a second option for Ryu/Guile

Lionx
05-07-2010, 04:45 AM
Against the computer i wouldn't have a clue. But against humans just mix up the timing of the Dive Kick, like don't just fire it off all the time, fire it off a little later so they are recovering because it is hard to always reaction uppercut your Dive Kick. Mix it up with just jumping up and doing nothing too along with your own fireballs.

You can also use Dive Kicks to chase after people who are knocked down by you far away. Close the distance so they can't start their mid/long range game.

I guess i personally don't like relying on the Parry move too much because it makes you commit to something. But i can try that out next time i get around to it to see if its any good. I just know i tagged my friend alot after he used that move.

Vyk
05-07-2010, 04:53 AM
I did some training with it earlier. It worked maybe 25% of the time. Its really hard to pull off on the fly for me for some reason. More often I'd just stand up and jab their fireball lol Which isn't very productive. Its hard to make my mind react offensively to a fireball rather than do the instinctual block or jump

This is where I wish I had more offline friends who knew how to play a decent round in a fighting game >_>

Lionx
05-07-2010, 05:10 AM
At such a close range where you can dodge the fireball and still punish them in recovery, it would be hard to react to anything. I also think its unsafe to do fireballs at that range since you can easily jump over them so most good players would just stop throwing them at that range anyway.

If you were to get it to work though, it would have to be because you 'know' this opponent that well and the lil quirks he has to be able to pull it off. You can't do it reactionary imo during a match. Try setting your dummy to ALL BLOCK and record it throwing a fireball...then see if the distance you do it in can tag the dummy or not.

Sometimes its best to not try to escape every situation, but deal with it. Its okay if you block the fireball or just neutral jump it every now and then trying to inch in to that perfect sweet spot where jumping in is a good idea to make them stop tossing fireballs.

Vyk
05-07-2010, 06:13 AM
Good tip for testing. I'll have to do that. I agree with pretty much everything you said. My problem wasn't really that people throw fireballs. I can live with that. My problem was the computer set on hardest difficulty would catch me instantly everytime I tried to punish it for spamming fireballs. Your suggestion is a great way to see their limits. I assume if they can't block then I'm probably doing it too fast for them to throw a move as well. But now that I think about it I'm pretty sure they always got me with an EX Flashkick/Dragon Punch. I don't know SF -that- deeply so it wouldn't surprise me if EX moves come out a lot quicker so stuff like that can happen. Maybe I'll just have to condition myself to let them go when they have an EX bar or two built up

Lionx
05-07-2010, 01:51 PM
The problem with the computer is that, they probably won't throw out a move until you already thrown yours out in your situation. Its basically finding what they are weak against and abusing it. I personally wouldn't play the computer since it gives you bad habits. But you just gotta experiment if you do.

Certain EX Moves come out faster and are stronger, others are just a different version of the said special move. They are different depending on the character.

Examples:

- Abel's EX Tornado Throw cannot be hit out of, but can be beaten by normal throws. This is in contrast to the normal Tornado Throw which cannot be thrown (by ANYTHING, even Ultras) but can be jabbed out of. Does the same damage as hard punch Tornado Throw, not more and has worse recovery than if you didn't EX.

- Makoto's Karakusa starts up in 5 frames instead of 7 and gains one hit of super armor.

- Ryu's Red Fireball fires out faster, has better recovery, hits twice, and juggles. Ryu's EX Shoryuken has full body invincibility on the way up and does less damage to trade off on this advantage.

- Guile's Flash Kick comes out faster, hits twice, and has more invincibility on it compared to regular one.

---

Sometimes its not that they come out faster, but they just have certain properties that are beating what you are doing straight out due to them spending meter.

Viper's Ex TK sucks though. It's the slowest of all the tKs it's the slowest to cancel, a lot easier for someone to punish if they see it coming. It's only bonus is that it's long range and that it stuns. It would've been great if it came out faster though.

EX Thunder Knuckle still gets you behind the opponent when it's blocked. Not completely safe/out of range of a retaliation, but better than being in recovery right in front of them.

Theres definitely uses for EX Thunder Knuckle. If someone misses a Rush Super like Balrog or Chun, you can jump over it and then while they are all the way across the screen, just EX Thunder Knuckle in for a free Ultra.

Its also good for people that like to charge up a Focus Attack and then dash away at the last minute. It doesn't matter if they tried to dash as long as you started your EX Thunder Knuckle motion, it will break their armor and free Ultra or combo.

Dudley, Ibuki and Guy are characters that have notable 'Gatling' combos (called Target combos in SF) if those will help. For the most part, comboing normal moves requires actual timing and counting frames, as it's not an automatic combo dialing like it is in ArcSys games and most 3D fighters.

It definitely takes practice, and knowing what moves give you a big enough 'advantage' to let another move hit. Easy example being the basic Heavy Jump Attack > Heavy Standing Attack > Special. That works for any character in the game. Rose example: Jump HK, Stand HK, QCF HK (drill) should combo easily if you get the first hit.

If you ever get time to play it on your own, there's a whole set of of 'Trials' for each character that will let you practice specific combos.

A lot of those combos aren't practical though. Some for instance require you to do several links into a special move into a super. The damage output for that is smaller than if you did two links and a super or two links, a special, and a super.

The focus attack combo things into supers or ultras also do less damage than if you did it without the FA.

Damn, I swear I don't sound like that in real life. The camera's altering my voice.

Is anyone still playing this game or arcade edition?

Play arcade edition casually, that is all though.

I still break it out for company just for a change of pace once in a while. And I'm still always interested in the game(s). But I never play it by myself anymore. Fighting games don't have that lasting appeal with me

I don't see a point in me playing it when I don't have net for online play and playing against the CPU is boring.

Yes, I play Super Street Fighter IV competitively in the Southwest Region of the United States. The competitive play around Super Street Fighter IV is slowly declining because of the lack of availability of Arcade Edition and the upcoming release of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, however.

I am not sure if I can say I play it competitively, but I have gotten back into the game quite a bit over the last few days. I took the last few months off from the game and got back into it with the release of arcade edition. Although I am a pad player and thus with the Honda nerfs and getting used to playing with a stick has caused quite a few frustrating times in the arcade.

I am still trying to get my bearings back and would love to get some games in with people who play tournament style games online (not the random players on ranked who love to do unorthodox as :bou::bou::bou::bou:). If you have live add me sometime to get some games in I'd level to start leveling up by playing high level competition.

I can say for sure that I'm not good enough to play competitively. I mean, I only played against Depression Moon twice: the first time, he couldn't even figure out how to do Chun-Li's moves (and I taught him in real-time), the second time he'd switched to Viper and beat me for the majority of our games.

I poke around in practice mode now whenever tournaments are on, which is pretty much every other week these days. I don't play much against real people (my friends suck and don't play fighting games), but if you want a sparring partner who doesn't do online shenanigans I can hook up with you from time to time. Maybe I'll get better.

I'm always down for a friendly game just add me on live and we can get a session in.

Yes, I can add you on Xbox Live the next time that I have a practice session. Where do you live? I only play people that live in North America due to latency issues.

I remember that. That was the first SF I've played in since more than a decade. I had to basically relearn everything and I doubt I was really doing anything but button mashing back then anyway.

I could go and enter tournaments, but it would just be like giving away money for no reason. I can't practice at home online, so the only practice I can get is from the AI (which is useless) and from casuals the day of the tournament which isn't even close to enough time. I did enter a Tekken 6 tournament and did fairly well despite my situation. I'm guessing it might have to due with the superior AI in that game and the fact that I've been playing every main Tekken since its creation.
