The other day I noticed that FFT had been added to PSN for purchase. My first thought was "sweet! I have to get that." Then I realized I already own three physical copies of FFT...

Is it a bad thing if I'm still tempted to buy it?

Nope, this way, you have a permanent copy at that point.

I would probably buy it cause I love the game.

I'm curious to know if its the original Playstation version or is it the PSP version?

It was released as a PSOne classic and without the "War of the Lions" subtitle so I'd be almost 100% certain it's the PSX version. The only way I see the release making sense is for PS3 owners who never played it and don't own a PSP. PSP owners are better off with the re-release if you ask me, but playing it in any form is better than not playing this wonderful game.

Yeah, the PSN versions are all as they appeared on the PSone. I was really disappointed they didn't add the increased resolution for FFVII that the PC version had. (10 years ago...)

I don't want the PSP version due to the slowdowns

The slow down is not that terrible :roll2

It mostly comes from the special sword abilities from Holy/Dark Knights as well as high level magic/summons, the rest plays beautifully and actually having a script that not only doesn't insult your intelligence but also raises the expectations of what the player needs to bring to the game is more rewarding than having to deal with a two second delay from a few overly embellished attacks in the game. Its not like the PS1 port of Chrono Trigger.

Not to mention all the extra crap thrown in is both incredibly rewarding and fleshes the game out even more (extra story missions, playing as Delita, a new side quest resolving Beowulf's storyline).

I honestly never even noticed the slowdown in the PSP version. I might have noticed it more if I were prone to the use of the abilities that cause it or had played the original recently, but it's really not bad like Wolf Kanno said, and well worth it for the other stuff they added to the game.

To be honest...it took me awhile to get used to FFT in general than..before you know it i was addicted, especially the PS3 version, all the classes, leader boards, scores etc..

I was thinking about getting it too considering all the good stuff I hear for the game, but why should I buy this version when there's a much better version available?

The general pace of the game feels much slower than when I play the Playstation version.

I have played this game multiple times, so most of the time when I play it now, Ramza has a special, inaccessible job class. I only play the game using the special characters and a majority of their abilities are affected by the slowdown aside from Mustadio.

It bothered me to the point that I could not finish the game to enjoy the new translation completely. I might play it again, but each battle feels so slow and sluggish as if I am running it on a slow PC or something. If only there was a utility that acted like the fast forward button on ZSNES.

I don't even notice the slowdown anymore when I play. Occasionally something happens that causes it but I never felt the overall flow of battle felt slower. To each their own, but do you think your feelings might be affected by playing ROMs with fast forward features too much? ;) Just asking...

Like most of the games that got hot new translations, I can't bring myself to play the old versions anymore. The original now feels like a bad fan translation rather than a legitimate entry.

Dude, WHAT are you talking about??? That sounds like a crazy acid trip, loading up FFT on the PS3 and logging in to see leaderboards and everything. Actually, that sounds like fun.

I was just saying before i sold FFT for the ds..I remembered all those classes and side quests i still could of done...than i just decided to download it for the ps3..and it's pretty fun. not like the previous game i had, but still fun. it's simple, yet has a bit of a challenge to it. especially adding the scores/leaderboards.
