View Full Version : GeoCities will close on October 26, 2009

That's next Monday. Every GeoCities page will then cease to exist, forever, except perhaps in some half-incarnate zombified form with broken images courtesy of the Internet Archive.
So, if you've ever loved someone's homely yet charming little corner of the web, please use the next four days or so to come to terms with this parting, save pages for posterity, and make archivalists of yourselves all.

I had a Sailormoon page back in high school, they GeoCities still had like neighborhoods and addresses. It was just on jpeg and a midi. It was awesome.

I wouldn't care were it not for the fact that my ruddy portfolio is up there. Now I've got to find somewhere else to put it AND update all of my sent-out CV's to reflect this. :mad2:

This is actually pretty huge for me. I remember building several different webpages (mostly about Final Fantasy and porn, never mixed though) when I was in high school. My teacher once yelled at me for making a webpage as part of his assignment. He thought I was playing a video game because it was about Final Fantasy VI.

Everything other than the free accounts is getting transfered over to another server anyway.
Hahaha, I remember my first Geocities website. Awwwww.
