Listen to music, that's what I do. And I usually just do stuff until I'm tired.

Maybe put a film on quiet in the background so I have something to listen to. Usually takes hours for me to get to sleep, especially if I'm woken up. Bad times, it's because I think too much!

I usually put an epidsode of a comedy on or a stand up, as long as I know it really well. I usually crash out before it's finished.

I can't remember the last time I had trouble sleeping. Staying awake is more of a challenge.

I just get so annoyed and irritated with myself for not being able to fall asleep that I eventually exhaust myself and pass out.

Music or video games are not good ways to get to sleep. Reading is often recommended, though.

I often have a lot of trouble getting to sleep.

My roomie's dad had pretty much the most amazing advice I've ever heard for insomnia.

Basically, if you can't sleep, instead of letting yourself get frustrated about it and worrying about not getting sleep, just say "Well, I guess I just won't sleep tonight." Make plans for things to do. Play games or watch movies, though not with the intent of putting yourself to sleep. Just do whatever you want with the intent of staying up all night. If you do fall asleep, awesome. If you don't, no big deal. Try again tomorrow.

The biggest part of not being able to sleep - at least for me - is constantly stressing over how I can't sleep. But there's no reason beating yourself up over it and stressing out. That'll just make it harder to sleep. Just do something enjoyable with nothing extra attached to it and let whatever happen.

Yup. Stressing about it is always the worst. I haven't had any real problems with insomnia in quite awhile. I think it's almost directly tied to depression, for me.

If I have trouble sleeping at night these days, it's usually because I fell asleep earlier in the afternoon so I'm not tired enough.

Reading is the best solution, I think.

Word man, it's 5 am in the morning and I got about an hour of sleep tonight.

More than anything else, the only time I seem to write creatively is when I'm sleep deprived. It doesn't help me get to sleep, but it makes use of my time.

When all else fails, you can try;

Wanking has never actually helped me falling asleep.

Me neither, and the time I tried to bore myself to sleep with rugby statistics didn't work either. Although there was the time when I was with my ex when I got him to tell me jokes. They were really bad and I went to sleep pretty quick that night.

The only thing that really works for me, is turn off all the lights so it's pitch black, lay back and close my eyes and just lay there until I fall asleep.

If I start watching a film, I watch it all.

I haven't really had much trouble sleeping lately, I'm always shattered from work so the latest I'm in bed is like 12. :

I don't think my husband would appreciate it if I woke him up by wanking next to him in bed. I stick with the dirty thoughts. But girly dirty, not boy filthy porno dirty.

BJ and I fall asleep every night to an episode of The Office. Before that it was South Park and before that it was The Simpsons. Watching something familiar allows us to close our eyes and picture it in our heads, which quickly leads to sleep.
