Whoa, this is actually one of the few Disney sequels that I haven't seen. Thanks for the link. I'll check it out, especially now that I found out it has Tim Curry in it. Should be fun. :D

Well occasionally they do it right. ;) Really! I'll uh, tell you when I think of an example.

From the DTV sequels* I've seen so far, Bambi 2, Cinderella 3 and The Lion King 2 were the best of the bunch.

Bambi 2 had some fine plot elements, really gorgeous animation (come on, it had Andreas frickin' Deja animating Bambi, so of course it's going to be awesome), great voice acting (seriously, Patrick Stewart really defines the Great Prince) and absolutely stunning orchestral and vocal score by Bruce Broughton. The songs of Bambi 2 weren't that bad either ("There is Life" is very pretty, in fact) although stylistically they don't fit with the soundscape of the music of the original Bambi. :)

Cinderella 3 is another interesting DTV sequel because there's actually some impressive animation here and there, and the story's fine too as long as you don't expect it to surpass the original Cinderella. There are some okay songs but what is really impressive is Joel McNeely's epic, melodramatic score that works wonders. The orchestral love theme is quite beautiful. For the record, McNeely also wrote fine orchestral and choral scores for other sequels such as Return to Neverland and Mulan 2. ;)

The Lion King 2 was actually a surprisingly enjoyable sequel. Sure, the score was ripped off from The Rock (and later used in many parts for the first Pirates of the Caribbean film), but many of the songs are quite beautiful (and Liz Callaway sure can sing!). There's some fine animation and an intriguing plot for the most part. It's not on par with the original TLK, of course, but still worth watching.

I think I should give honourable mentions to Lady and the Tramp 2 and Mulan 2. Those two actually had some pretty neat ideas for plot and characters and a few gorgeous songs but they don't quite rate as highly as Bambi 2, Cinderella 3 and The Lion King 2 on my list. :p

*I'd also like to point out that this analysis is only about the DTV sequels. The Rescuers Down Under and Fantasia 2000 (yeah, I know, but I still consider it a "sequel" of sorts) are so above any of the DTV stuff in so many areas that I'm not counting them in this post's sequel analysis.

I liked Cinderella 3 better than the original. The Little Mermaid 3 is pretty cool. Mulan 2 is entirely watchable. Cinderella 2 is good, but it's not really a movie. I thought Lion King 1 1/2 was hilarious, but it's possible I was on crack at the time.

I got too distracted to watch this today, but tomorrow I need to make an appointment with a Disneyland career counselor and then I'm free for the day.

I'm free for the rest of tonight. Probably not at all tomorrow and I don't know about the weekend.

Never seen this.

The only Disney sequel I really liked was probably The Lion King 1½. I thought it was funny.

This was a decent movie, not great, but decent.

I find that most of the Disney animated sequels are entirely watchable, but never actually any good. Cinderella 3 was pretty good, though. Had a nice moral to it, better than the original's idea of just waiting around for your Fairy Godmother to save you. You have to take your life into your own hands! I liked that. xD TLK2 was another good one. Can't think of any more that I felt were actually of a decent standard in my mind. >.<

Omg Miriel way to wait until I go to bed.

Tonight I'm going to see New Moon with TheAbominatrix and then Friday is movie night with Monda and J and etc (and, yes, the movie did finish downloading).

The Direct-to-video Disney sequels always ended up being a sort of empty mocking imitation of their predecessors to me. This one is not an exception...in fact, it's probably among the worst offenders from what I remember of it.

The only exception to this rule, in my opinion, was Cinderella III: A Twist in Time. I was pleasantly surprised and thoroughly entertained by it! :D

Ugh, random computer animation does not belong in a Disney film. Is that Tim Curry? And why is he super mad about being bolted to the wall but then happy to be an organ?? WTF!

ETA: Good job deciding what to get him on Christmas Eve, ho. I wish I could write a book in a minute and twenty-four seconds.

ETA2: Dissing the Charlie Brown tree?? Unforgivable.

I didn't expect it to be so creepy...

Yeah, Tim Curry. His character is terrifying.

I KNOW! Even as a human he's so super creepy! I love how he starts destroying the castle with his CONCERTO OF RAGE IN D MINOR.

When I first saw the organ's face I fell back a little. Angelique is cute, though.

Edit: Gonna post a screenshot.

Yes, his face will be in my nightmares tonight.

Mm'kay I just now finished it. I laughed when he's all "I'm breaking everything!!!" and the Beast is all "*picks up*" and Forte is all "Oh snap I'm just an effing piano! *breaks*" The end. Lawl.

Yep!

By the way, there's a new Disney Princess art book that looks neat: http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m285/fofonda/disney/back.jpg. Seen it? =O

Shlup

Suuuper neat! Some of them look pretty similar to ones I have in my favorites on deviantART (http://instantpudding.deviantart.com/favourites/#Disney).

I want products with near princess art! For awhile they had a line art nouveau style princess stuff at the Disney store and the art was awesome but all the products themselves were hideous! Denim button up shirt? Ugh.
