1)On 10-25-2009, long time member Blues Agent aka Agent Proto (THREAD CLOSING MONSTER) created a thread about creating a country. When things are looking up, Blues Agent went ahead and close the thread on his own and abandoned all his people. :(
I for one feel cheated and suffered a deep trauma of what Blues Agent did along with others that posted in his thread. As a Staff of EoFF, what are your views and opinions?

1) Agent Proto has the attention span of a goldfish and the heart of a sea cow. Those who relied on him for fun and possible e-glory during this time have learned this lesson the hard way. There's a reason I personally fired him from the EoFF forums staff. Shame on him!

2) Almost everything I do for EoFF is part of a group effort, and so I hesitate to take credit for anything. Name it and there's a pretty good chance I had a hand in it. <s>And whoever put that I don't appear to do much on my Wiki page is a dick!</s> Any technical knowledge I once had has gotten rusty, but that just means I try to pick up the menial tasks that a <s>lowly</s> CK can't do <s>because they're not cool enough for teh powah</s> but a more technical admin shouldn't have to waste their time with.

Most of our regulars are kinda iffy when it comes to FF. We've all been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Whenever I am motivated to play an FF game, I also post a lot in that game's forum around that time because of all the issues that arise from the story and party set ups and whatnot.

So how about we have a forumwide "Play Final Fantasy (game) month" campaign type thing? Basically we encourage our regulars to all play the same FF game in the same period, that way people can swap progress and I guess if their friends are talking about playing it, they'll be more motivated to do the same. I know I'm a competetive egotistical bastard, so I'd love trying to outlevel certain EoFFers and beat the game before them.:roll:

The Great April Fool's Prank of 2005. Despite being a team effort in it's execution, the initial idea and detailed planning were essentially my brain child.
Eyeson's Next Cid's Knight. I will give a shout out to rubah, who initially mentioned something like this, though I think it was in jest. I was the one who developed it into an elaborate reality-like game show which rivals the Ciddies in terms of it's participation and popularity and resulted in the promotions of Flying Mullet, Shiny, and Wolf Kanno.

When Azar resigned I credited him with being the mind behind Eyes On Plays. Psychotic claims he was the one to initially come with the idea, which is true based on the post quoted. However it was Azar who planned, designed the challenges, and hosted the first event. It was his event. Just like Eyeson's Next CK is my event even though rubah came up with the initial idea. Just like the Ciddies is BoB's event even though some oldbie did it first. I hope that is satisfactory.

The death of that thread shows that you need a good leader who is dedicated to the cause to keep a project like that going. it reminds me of the Gamers' Alliance back when Bleys would flake out all the time and let it die. Which happened with Magestar too. Wow, that thread made me think of Bleys, which is bad. bad bad bad.

my biggest contribution as a staff member is the FF forum section names, Nerds in Paradise, The Quickening, and The Smell of Fear.

Other staff contributions include fighting to bring back the Feedback Forum and giving good advice on tons of issues in the staff forum.

Plus I lighten the mood with random spam threads, and serve as the People's staff member. And I ran a "Best FF NPC" competition a couple times in Gen FF.

Before being knighted, I made the EoFF Elections into something epic and awesome when I was Election Booth for the third and fourth annual editions. (I believe Sakura Yume and Naitsirk were Election Booth for the first two editions respectively). I was given Recognized Member status for this.

I also set the record and broke the mold with repo man, the best second account ever, which was so good the staff played along and let the members try to guess who had made the account. This catapulted me onto the scene back in the days when EoFF was run by an insufferable clique of elitist staff members and associated donkey lovers.

Oh yea, I was also the secret result in Neel's "what eoff staff member are you?" quiz.

1) I reckon that if someone really feels cheated then they should start a new thread up. People should never rely on others - even staff - to make all the fun. I fully appreciate that we have to do our bit, but if we did everything then we'd only be limiting ourselves. Dozens of members over the years have done a massive amount of work for this place without being on staff. Proto himself was not on staff. Instead of feeling let down by the end result of his thread, they should rather continue it on themselves. Be inspired by the actions of others! Why should a simple thread closure stop the idea behind the thread? It is certainly not against the rules to make a new thread continuing on and hopefully providing progress to Proto's initial concept.

2) You say as a staffer, however it should be noted that I did a lot of my work before I was even on staff - much like I believe others should, as per my answer to the first question. So I will list off everything I've done as a member, rather than as a staffer. Being on staff only makes things easier, but even if it's more difficult I still collaberated with staffers to ensure my ideas could go forward. In some cases I don't recall if I started the idea before or after being Knighted so that's the other reason I'm including stuff I did before being recruited...

- Began the first EoFF World Map
- Began the Site Staff
- Coded for the Site Staff
- Helped to create new styles for the forums
- Helped to the main styles would work before major upgrades went ahead using my own forums licences and domains on external servers.
- Paid for the chatroom's hosting for a long period of time.
- Arranged various offline meetings of members in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom
- Attended various offline meetings of members in New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
- Revamped the EoFF Awards into the Ciddies, introducing such things as the nominations round, speeches, revelations threads/chats and other traditions.
- Was heavily involved with many Eizon ventures
- Helped with multiple EoFF Post incarnations, including columns, interviews and forum hosting.
- Lead multiple EoFF Election parties, occasionally winning.
- Came up with and carried out the EoFF Gang Wars
- Started various other forum-based contests in various forums

Doomgaze and Roto13 are the two I probably have most contact with now, mostly through LiveJournal. Roto13 was actually on the staff of omgmygame, my off-shoot site. I'll say him for that reason, I guess.

Other than that I don't think I've done much! I once created a Hurt & Heal thread in the staff forum, but nobody liked it and it got closed. Why would someone even close a thread in the staff forum when everyone can still post in it? I suppose that's how bad it was. The follow up ABC thread wasn't all that much better either. 1) As I expect most everyone does, I try to get an image, if a faint one, of what everyone is like. That often involves getting to know the person behind the screen name, if only a little bit, which quietly brings with it an ounce or two of care for these people. Then there are of course those who have gone a few steps further than that, people who I consider friends, who I care for as much as, if not more, than I do for most of whatever IRL friends I may or may not have! And when it comes to getting to know people, new member or old doesn't make a difference. Then of course there's care for the community, which is impossible to not gain when it's had such a big impact on your life. That brings with it a care for all members, known and unknown (and Unknowns) that might not be as personal but is still as real! So yes, I would say I care about all members here in some fashion.

2) I just try to not take matters too seriously unless they really require being taken seriously! And I certainly try not to take myself too seriously. Whether that results in the odd funny or not isn't quite up to me to say!

3) I will say to Psychotic: Remember this?

4) Something more modern! As charming as our current skins are, most of them are kind of stuck in the 90's and the only thing that really changes between them are colour schemes and banners! A skin can do so much more than that!

A Final fantasy IX theme, starring :quina: :dagger: :zidane: :steiner: :vivi: :salamander: :freya: and :eiko:. It would be one to take the magic of FF IX, and share it with everyone. Little changes to the EoFF style that would be for fun. Warn would be to report the post to :steiner: for example, and the banner would be set that there are actually nine banners, one for each character and the general cast as one, randomly chosen to be displayed each time you open a new page. The colors would be a light brownish orange color that's not too dark but also pleasent to look at.

1) I don't distinguish between "newbies" and "regulars" and "oldbies". It's just people! I have great memories of good people and good times from past years of EoFF, but what counts is the here and now. Honestly, I think EoFF is a better community than it was for much of the past, and I think the lack of emphasis on "newbies" and "regulars" and "oldbies" plays a big role in that.

I know we have fantastic groups of people here. We get the PS3 vs XBox 360 debates in Gen Gaming (which is the new Gen Chat). We have an amazing group of poets posting in the Writers' Corner. We get fun new members and the Wonder Square is a great innovation to feature them. We still have amusing discussions about the old generation FF games. And I hear there is a new number being added to the series in a couple months.

2) elephants are too conservative. but this is not 'nam, we have rules. sometimes I have to enforce.

3) I got two: for Del: "RIP zombone" for Psy: "USA 2 ENG 1"

4) I would make a skin with variable colors depending on your reputation score here. Reds would be increased in your palette if you pissed people off, for example.

I care for everyone who isn't a jerk who tries to ruin the groove. I'm serious when I have to be but there's no reason to be serious all the time. It's fun to let go and cut loose! It probably does get me less respect. In both instances I checked your post to see if you answered my question and I didn't see the answer. And I tend to be a detail-oriented, close reader. I don't think you are going back and editing, so I must be having trouble understanding what you are saying.

Thinking about it, I now recall that I interpreted "Staff that yet to answered round 2 questions can still do so in round 3 along with round 3 questions!" as saying that staff who haven't participated still have the opportunity to participate by answering the round 3 questions, i.e. encouraging the slouches to get involved while they still can. Maybe this came from my understanding that when you say round 2 is closed, that means no more submissions for round 2.

If I had to make a new forum skin it would probably be something along the lines of a chocobo skin. I know, I know, the current one has chocobos - but maybe it doesn't have enough. Another idea would be FFXI / FFXIV skins for people who are obsessed with the respective games. Maybe even FFVI and FFVII skins. Dunno. I already made the one that I wanted anyways... the "work friendly" simplified one.

Its a difficult question, I'm obviously the "newest" member among the people in this contest not only as being part of staff but also being a member of this forum in comparison to my compatriots. I usually try my best to make new members feel welcomed in the lower forums and I'm always free to have someone ask a question or two. I've gotten to know a few of the older members and we sometimes hit it off and sometimes don't but overall I at least try to keep it friendly and civil. Of anything, I am at least mildly entertaining to both groups if not for my keen insight at least its got to be funny when I put my foot in my mouth and make myself look like a fool. Its all in good fun though and at least I'm not boring... ;)

I go back and forth and will usually use humor to diffuse tension or to avoid flaming but I like to think I am funny if in mostly a dark and cynical way (http://forums.eyesonff.com/2646816-post20.html) but I probably get more laughs from my sad attempts at Slapstick humor (http://forums.eyesonff.com/2127786-post1.html). I'm probably too serious for my own good but its mostly cause I don't know how people would react to my sense of humor.

3) If you are allowed to say something to one of the opposing team members,what and who will you speak to? I'm pretty sure our staff are all civilized and well mannered people and won't resort to childish comments won't they?

I love FF related ones and would actually love to remake the Mog skin to add more moogles and make it "moogly". Though it might be fun to create a Tonberry or Cactuar themed skin. Never get enough of that Lantern and Barber Shop mustache :D
