What TV Series was this theme from? (If any)

For years I have been trying to remember, a TV show which has the following lyrics in its theme - It is obviously one that I watched or at least knew about (It may not have even been one I liked - I can't remeber!) as a young child, because I hear the song when I think of all the shows I used to watch.

The only lyrics I remember are;


Welcome to the real world
is this what you wanted?
is this how you thought it would be?

Strange lyrics huh? I can't for the life of me think what they mean - I could have even gotten it wrong, I tried Google and nothing.

Any help would be appreciated.
