Love or Hate?

Which ones do you bop your little Santa hat too and which do you want to throw into the fire?

I am personally a Wham fan but I hate that cover Beyonce has done of the Little Drummer boy! Gets right on my nerves.

Slade is also win, he also used to live down the road when my dad was little!

I think they're mostly alright. Some are horrible, and some are good. Overall, though, they help me get in the christmas spirit, which is neat and stuff.

I'm secretly a sucker for Wham!'s Last Christmas. Don't know why, I just really associate it with christmas and it's somehow a nice song xD

Other than that all the classic Bing Crosby songs and other old christmas songs are great. Judy Garland's "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" is really nice for example.

I love Transiberian Orchestra. :D

YouTube - Trans-Siberian Orchestra - "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo - 12/24" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=alIcwofkrS8)

The best ones:

Fairytale of New York - The Pogues ft Kirsty MacColl (obviously)
Just Like Christmas - Low
I Believe in Father Christmas - Greg Lake
Anything off the Sufjan Stevens Christmas songs boxset

And I have a soft spot for the stuff like Slade and Wizzard. And All I Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey, the only bearable thing she's ever done.

I loved these guys so much :weep: THEIR CAREER SHOULD HAVE SPANNED CENTURIES. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W-eslNwGXrI)

Also Stop the Cavalry, and Il Est Ne Le Divin if we count carols.

I'll think of some others later :) You've got to love Fairytale of New York!

also i hate mariah but anybody who doesn't like All I Want For Christmas Is You is an unfestive scroogeface.

OOH i majorly love Nat King Cole's Christmas stuff! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oqpyfa2EmzQ)

<s>Santa Baby</s> Santa's Baby by Jackie Beat. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZThrYCy9Zzo)Santa's baby is growing here inside me right now, like wow. I'm gonna be the mother of Santa's baby: he put it in me Christmas eve night.

Best Christmas song. Ever. :chuckle:

I used to like some or be indifferent, but they've been playing Christmas songs over the PA at work forever and I now hate all of them.

I love traditonal Christmas carols, my favorite being Angels We Have Heard on High: Glooooooooooooooooria!

My least favorite: Santa Baby (Madonna's version is the most insufferable), this song neatly encapsulates everything that is wrong with the way Christmas has been promoted.

Runner up: The Christmas Shoes: includes anything that Santa Baby left out.

I used to love Transsiberian Orchestra . . . until I saw them live. Way too overtly Christian for my tastes. But the ticket was free (my friend used to do lights for their touring shows) so I can't complain. Yet I do. :P

I love old traditional carols sung in the old traditional way. (Loreena McKennitt has released three albums exemplifying this perfectly) I do NOT like the 1920s-1960s new xmas songs.

And I LOVE Enya's "new Christmas songs" she wrote for her last album And Winter Came.

And I like Sufjan Steven's take on them.

And this version of Jingle Bells: Z.X. (http://zxmusic.net/music.html)
It is NOT me or related to me in any way. I swear it is just a coincidence that we live in the same town.

I just LOVE Christmas music! Is that weird being that I'm practically an athiest?

TSO rocks! n_n I loved their concerts! This is the first time in three years I won't be attending one of their shows. Even though I like the entire thing, the second half of the show totally blows my mind, kthnx!

Singing Chirstmas songs in church always sends shivers through me. I love that feeling.

Otherwise, I love randomly blurting out, "IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OOOOOF THE YEEEAAAR!" when I'm in really crowded stores and parking lots where other people are quite obviously annoyed and otherwise mad. :3 It makes me happy for some reason.

YouTube - "Little Drummer Boy", David Bowie and Bing Crosby (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_zMhSjDqvRs) Can't beat a crooner and Bowie.

YouTube - Last Christmas - Wham! (HQ Audio) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3354flS1KJs) Still the best version

YouTube - Happy Christmas (War Is Over) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb2YSAVHmIE) Prefer Neil Diamond's version but there are no good version of Niels on Youtube

YouTube - Dido - Christmas Day (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMFzQhR9dJw) Nice song and the singing is gorgeous.

I also love Carol of the Bells, We Three Kings, O Holy Night, Christmas Rock, and the Nightmare Before Christmas Soundtrack... Yes it counts.

Do you have the 2 disc version of the ST? Disc 2 has some interesting covers by Marilyn Manson, Fionna Apple and Panic at the Disco as well as some demos with Danny Elfman doing all the voices.

I went to a Christmas carol sing-along at the old folk's home today. It was a nightmare. xD Still fun though.

My favorite carol is O Holy Night.

I love Transiberian Orchestra. :D

... I have to stop liking TSO, now.

I can't stand Christmas music most of the time. I have to be in the mood for it, and often that's not during Christmas.
