Am I alone in wondering where the heck Necron came from?

IX was awesome. I loved it in every way. But Necron is probably the most spontaneous final boss they've ever had. I mean, his appearance was completely random. As a matter of fact, the whole last disc was random, but most of it was acceptable.

However, I never got what the point of Necron was. He just showed up and you started fighting. He's not even that tough, if you equip your abilities properly.

Personally, I wish they had just made Kuja a helluva lot tougher, and made him the final boss.

Does anyone know what the reason or thinking behind Necron was?

He's put in simply for the badassitude of his speech and his theme.

Tribute to the randomness that is the Cloud of Darkness, Chaos, NeoexDeath and all the other spontaneous Final final bosses? :p

Various theories.

One of them is that he is spawned from Kuja's fear.

The Lifestream.net site recently began translating the Ultimania for FFIX.

Here is the article about Necron and the truth about his origins. (http://thelifestream.net/final-fantasy-ix-ultimania-translations/1894/world-establishment-development-materials-continued-p-43-of-the-ffix-ultimania/)

For those too lazy to read, yes, he is like Zeromus and is born from the Fear and Hatred within Kuja.

Though that makes sense, I still like to call Necron the Biggd Lipped Alligator Moment of FFIX.

Except nowhere near as awesome as Cloud of Darkness.
